About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Dog-friendly
Nestled in the picturesque village of Lowonsford, on the banks of the Stratford Canal, between winding country roads that used to be part of the Forest of Arden, The Fleur De Lys is the very best kind of country pub. Packed full of quaint charm and quirky corners beneath its C16th wooden beams, The Fleur is a cosy haven in the winter and an extensive paradise in the summer. There are so many tiny wonders packed into this historic building that you will always find something new to fall in love with when you visit. Our garden boasts an acre of land to run riot on and a low level wooden children’s playground, alongside over 30 tables and benches. We’re ideally situated for walkers and ramblers who wish to explore the canal towpath or a variety of local walks. If you’re intending on zooming through this part of Warwickshire on a bicycle, The Fleur makes an excellent intermediary watering hole to fortify you for the ride ahead.

Wanted to try here for a long time and finally made it. The staff were very attentive when we first arrived asking us what drinks we would like and food order etc. As soon as we had finished our dinner we waited and waited for our plates to be cleared and never once was we asked if we would like to see the desserts menu. In fact we waited that long we had to asked for the bill. For the food I was very impressed but the service in general wasn’t the greatest and I wont be rushing back anytime soon.

It's always a joy to eat at the Fleur. We were in the downstairs bar area, where it was very quiet, despite the pub being extremely busy both inside & out. The staff were kept very busy getting their steps in , but as always were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. Food is consistently good, however busy it is & I can wholeheartedly recommend you try it out if you haven't already.

We had the fish & chips offer which was good value however had we paid the full price we would have been very disappointed. The fish was smallish & the batter soggy. I understand times are tough & I am grateful for the monthly offers however food qualitative balance at their new pricing structure is not value

Despite the good reviews, the Sunday roast was really poor. Everything was overcooked, and service was pretty standard. The pub itself is very nice, but probably more a place for a drink rather than food.

Disappointed with the Beef Sunday lunch. Yes, it was plentiful, but it was not as nice as similar Sunday lunches I have had elsewhere recently. Not as well presented. Prefer separate dishes for serving up the veggies rather than having it all piled up with a Yorkie plonked on top. Vegetables weren't cooked through properly, roast potatoes were hard to cut through (let alone eat) and beef had fat on it. Didn't have a dessert as the selection on the menu was samey and uninspiring. Probably would have been better, in hindsight, having a pie. Also, probably £5 more expensive compared to similar places I have eaten at recently. It's a nice pub and I can understand why it attracts a lot of custom, but not for me thanks. Sorry.
