Really nice local restaurant wonderful food and service. Really appreciated the owner stopping by our table to thank us for coming out in these uncertain times. Will definitely be back
What a treat to be pampered at Flea Street. So lovely with THE BEST food! My salad was the freshest, gorgeous veggies and lettuce with exactly the right amount of fabulous dressing. My friend had the amazing vegetarian tastes and I got a couple of bites and was almost jealous but my short ribs were so delicious. We were sorry not to have room for dessert! Jessie continues to serve the most creative and wonderful food.
The food is creative and outstandingly prepared and presented. We have been going to Flea Street Cafe for several decades; it is part of the culture of this part of the Bay Area.
The noise level was higher than past visits due to a larger party seated next to us and another adjacent table with two small children. Not the fault of the restaurant.
We always enjoy the food at Flea Street Cafe - excellent service and staff. Corkage is atrocious!
One of our favorites on the peninsula. Owner takes real pride in place and food. We love it.
Delicious seasonal menu. I have never had a dish here that I didn’t like. The server was excellent; she was very knowledgeable of the food and helpful in selecting a wine. Always a top-notch experience.
I had been to Flea street about 4 times, including a graduation part, prior to this last visit and have been thrilled with the experience. Each visit provided a very pleasurable and memorable meal. Unfortunately, my daughter and I found our meals last Friday night (Pacific Coast Catch and Marin Sun Farm Short Ribs) to be average at best, well below our expectations for Flea Street.
I will certainly give Flea street another try when I next visit Palo Alto and hope that this meal was just an anomaly.
Always a wonderful dinner and evening!
Interesting menu. Outstanding food!
One of the best restaurants on the peninsula. Consistently interesting and superb.
I can't believe I've lived on the Peninsula for 15 years and have never been to this amazing restaurant. I will have to come back as everything I tried was amazing.
Vegetarian assortment entree was uninspired, tasteless and expensive. Husband described short ribs as okay but not good enough to consider ordering again. Very disappointed in restaurant where we have enjoyed many tasty meals. Cocktails are still delicious.
Beautiful dining room; attentive waiters/ service; menu offerings/ choices excellent; and, very elegant & savory meal. Highly recommended restaurant!
Much, much better than it appeared to be from the outside!
One of our favorites! Great local spot to enjoy a date or conversation w friends.
Fresh interesting food.
Very good food and solid service. Took a awhile to get served but the place was busy. The food was VERY pricey although SOME of wines were "reasonably priced"... I know it is Menlo Park/PA but come on man.
The food and atmosphere at Flea Street is consistent and delicious. Always worth a trip back!
We know when we made our reservations that the food would be beyond good. The service exemplary. The price just this side of breathtaking. And it would be worth it. And it was.
Lovely meal, perfect service. A bit noisy for me, but survivable. Pricey so maybe best for special occasions.
They had a set menu the evening we went and no advance notice of it on the website or when we made the reservation. The food was good but definitely not worth the very high price of the set menu. We have eaten at very nice places and had more interesting flavors, and as fresh of ingredients as we had here for half the price.
Food was fantastic and great wine recommendations from our server, Henry. My only suggestion would be to lessen the tables available. It felt a little cramped, which also made the environment louder than it needed to be.
We had been to Flea Street on several occasions over the past years and we had always been pleased. We were used to the short but well executed menu at reasonable pricing in a cozy atmosphere. Expecting a similar experience, we booked a table for 4 (double date) over the Valentine's day weekend. We were happy to invite and show our friends this hidden place. What a terrible disappointment! The menu was a unique prix-fixed for $150/person not including drinks, with added 22% gratuity. I thought the price was way more than what Flea Street usually charges but well, they've been good in the past, hopefully they can pull it off with something more sofistiacted for the occasion. When I pay this kind of price, I know what to expect. And I don't mind paying that much or even more for a good dinner when the quality is there. But what we received was no better than causal dinning. The wine pairing, in addition to being ridiculously priced, didn't match the food well, the filet mignon was flat and not very tender, and the wine reduction had way too much vinegar. Their "Love Potion" seemed to come directly from a random probiotic drink an gave both my wife and I bad belly aches for most of the night. Hapy Valentine! Among the 4 of us we tried the whole menu, and none of us found our food any special. When you end up spending $1000 for the table, about $250/person all included, that's ridiculous. For 1/2 that price, save yourself the trouble and go get the 4-course tasting menu with wine pairing at Alexander's in Palo Alto! At least they know their food and pairing and service is perfect with more space on the table. Unfortunately, Flea Street should stay in the casual dining category and didn't win us over for a more sofisticated experience.
Valentines Day
The black truffles were exceptional!
Flea street never falls short of perfecting flavors and serving them with care and respect. We always feel welcome and at home in such a calm, inviting atmosphere. Thank you...and keep up the exquisite tastes!
Anniversary
Flea street has interesting, delicious food and impeccable service. We shared an appetizer of crab cake on a bed of mushrooms, had an entre for two of half a duck and shared one lemon creme dessert. All were delicious but I hesitate to give more than 4 stars overall as it is extremely expensive.
Our 33 rd anniversary. We’ve been going to Flea Street for 37 years and it is always exceptional.
We dine here about once a year for special occasions and every time we swear it gets even better (and better!) This evening really knocked our socks off. Gnocchi with fresh shaved truffles. Ohhhh! Oysters. Halibut cheeks. Amazing beet and goat cheese starter. Donna, our server, was a true culinary professional. Knowledgeable, and confident in answering questions and guiding our decisions. Made for an exceptional evening out.
It was great. Food and service. Excellent.
Flea Street Cafe never disappoints! The food is delicious and innovative. The service is exceptional. It isn’t cheap but it is so so worth it.
We had an outstanding experience. From the kindness and relevance of the staff, to the amazing food, the perfect level of noise, the nice little surprises we got throughout the dinner... This was amazing, thank you so much!!!
We had a lovely experience Sat. night at Flea Street! We got to have the truffle gnocchi which I was very excited to try! Our waitress was superb. Love the whole thing! I wish we lived closer because it takes an hour for us to get there, but we'll be back. Best, Mary Ellen McTamaney
We ate at the bar. Eloy, the bartender, is a wonderful human being with drink skills to match his charmingly warm personality. Dinner was spectacular. This will be our new go-to on the Peninsula. Beautiful ingredients, cooked with love, perfectly flavored, in a warm and pretty environment where you can actually hear each other. And warm and gracious service from everyone. More European human charm rather than nouveau riche American glitz. Such a welcome and refreshing break from all the over-priced restaurants down here that only pretend to have good food.
Been going there for 20+ years for special occasions. Jesse never fails to disappoint!
Great food but service a little snob and condescending by Timothy. No effort to slow down to speak with French customers and overall not too friendly.
ALWAYS ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE AT FLEA ST, GREAT FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE
We had a lovely dinner in this very special place. Every aspect of our experience was terrific and memorable. Thank you so much!
We could smell fresh citrus as we walked into the restaurant. Every dish, every drink, was fresh and balanced - the crudo made us both groan with pleasure. Flea Street made our wedding anniversary very special and we hope to come back every year.
