Middle America Italian. Nothing to write home about, nothing creative, but it won't kill you and will fill your stomach adequately. Pleasant service.
Convenient walk from our hotel We were very pleased with our meal Loved the lobster diablo
Ridiculously expensive for the quality provided. It wasn't "spit it out" bad, but it absolutely wasn't 50$ for a piece of salmon good even though they priced it that way. Also so absurdly loud my throat still aches 3 days later from trying to have a conversation in that setting.
Service was hugely overwhelmed - I don't blame the servers but the restaurant should have had more staff on hand, it was obvious it was going to be a busy weekend.
Good food at a great location. They do play music through out the evening. So it's kind of weird eating with a loud dance soundtrack playing at the same time. Recommend for the food
Most fun night we have had in a long time! The service was great - food excellent and it was a great evening - everyone around us was having fun too!
The music is way to loud. We had to yell to hear each other.
Everything was good, and I recommend everyone to try DC restaurant week menu. Really worth every bits of it
Food is excellent and the waitstaff is fantastic. Had a wonderful time. Great for birthdays!
Visiting the DC area, we chose this restaurant in Georgetown to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary. We discovered that it was Georgetown Restaurant week. Flavio was a wonderful restaurant; food, service and ambiance. We ordered from the restaurant week menu that included appetizer, entree and dessert for a very reasonable price. Between my husband and myself, we had the eggplant and bruschetta appetizers, the Lobster Diavolo entree, each with a different sauce and cheesecake for dessert. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. We are not "spicy" eaters, so we asked the waiter about changing the sauce on our entrees. He told us we could have it prepared anyway we liked. I ordered a vodka sauce and my husband ordered an alfredo sauce. Both were amazing! The cheesecake was also delicious; we enjoyed it later in the evening at home. The "non-traditional" bread, sort of an Italian pita, and bread dip was also delicious. I had a glass of wine which was nice and, as in all restaurants, very expensive (this is not a complaint just stating a fact). Our waiter, his name escapes me, was so friendly, courteous and his attentiveness was just right. We left him a VERY generous tip! We will most likely return here on our next visit to DC.
I can't say enough positive things about Flavio! I came here with my WHOLE family after my graduation ceremony and they were incredibly attentive. They met us with so much excitement and were so gracious that I started to believe they were also a part of the family! There were many different items ordered by the family and everyone said the meal was absolutely delicious! The only critique is their wine is a little too overpriced but the ambiance, pleasantness of the staff, and overall quality of the restaurant really impressed me! I recommend everyone come to Flavio!
Our server (Alex) was very attentive and provided excellent service. Would definitely return.
We were seated and handed only a special New year's Eve menu which was a fix priced dinner. This was not advertised on the website anywhere and took is by surprise. We then later saw others being handed both the regular menu and special menu so they had the option. We felt very taken advantage of by being led to believe we had to order off the special menu. The service was mediocre at best. Our food was delicious though.
Food and service were excellent. Alex was great. Will go back
Great! Perfect for what we were looking for
Unbelievable food. Had the giant meatball appetizer and it was out of this world. Juicy Center with baked ricotta topping. Pizza was perfectly cooked with crispy pepperoni and sausage. Will definitely be back...YUM
Food is delicious. Beautiful place
Went for Dinner in Xmas day. Called several times, before our reservation, to see if they only had a pre-fix menu or would they also have their regular menu. Both times I was rushed off the phone after being told pre-fixed menu only. They had both menus. Our reservation was for 7:00. We were sat promptly at 7:00. The waiter was very nice. Told us that they were already out of several main courses and a dessert. The appetizers were really good, the main courses were okay. Six out of our 8 received our dinner, the last 2 didn’t get theirs until 15 minutes later. Very awkward.
There seems to be a problem in the kitchen. The chicken dishes were overcooked, the salmon was very good (but ever-so-lightly overdone)
I did asked for grilled ceaser and received...placed in front of me...just lettuce/not grilled.
And a seasoning on another dish was to be adjusted due to allergies and it was not, so that person had to wait while everyone was eating.
Getting a dessert as a gift because of the problems is nice, but did not solve the issue.
The wait staff was excellent and attentive. The problems we encountered seemed to be from the kitchen.
Great service. Portion sizes were huge! Birthday firework candle is amazing!
The customer service was great
Would have been 5 of 5 for food but they forgot the chicken in my penne arrabiatta. They did comp desert though
Pros: the atmosphere was fun - very lively. My meal (chicken parm) was excellent. The prices were reasonable (especially for Georgetown).
Cons: it was very noisy (we were at a table for 6, and it was hard to hear anyone but the people sitting next to you). My husband's meal was only OK, and my friend said that her meal wasn't as good as what she makes at home. The service was also incredibly slow (though they were busy).
The food came out before we even got our drinks. The quality was so so.
This is our go to spot in Georgetown and it never disappoints. They always have terrific food and service. Go for it, you won't regret it.
Just simply not worth it. Food is band and Overpriced
Food and atmosphere was awesome for our occasion. We loved the mushroom ravioli and chicken piccata, along with glasses of rosé and moscato. However, service was subpar and took longer than necessary. The busser knocked over my full glass of ice water into my lap and apologized, then walked away. I wish we were given some sort of formal apology.
Food was solid, hostess was in over her head, service was mediocre at best. Our appetizer came out at same time as our main entree, bread basket interestingly came out last.
The only thing that could be improved is the hostess. I had a reservation and when I arrived the hostess didn’t even check for my name and I was told I needed to wait at the bar while they figured out where my table would be. The restaurant was not packed at that time. I arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday evening.
There is always a wait at Flavio even with a reservation. The manager seated us by the front where a cracks in the doors made it very drafty (felt like AC blowing on us the whole dinner - the other couple had their coats on). When we asked to be reseated they rudely refused and told us people had reservations (we did too!). The (tall) manager could be seen yelling at the wait staff which made dinner awkward - we felt bad for them! The food was very good, but such a bad atmosphere that we won’t be returning. Too bad!
Despite all the lavish decorations, the restaurant had a “club” feel to it. The music was very clubby and quite loud. The service was just okay. The bread for the table came in small pieces, almost like pita bread pieces, and it came with pesto and olive oil, which was not good. Regular olive oil with Parmesan or balsamic vinegar would have sufficed. We ordered the charcuterie for appetizer and it was delightful (and the reason for the four stars). I ordered a penne arrabiata and my date the fettuccine alfredo. The pasta was pretty good, you can tell that the sauce was homemade—I could taste the fresh tomatoes in the arrabiata sauce and the milk in the alfredo. Overall, I felt that the restaurant could’ve been better if the ambiance was better. The music was very off-putting. For the price that we paid, I felt that it could’ve been a bit classier.
This was our 4th and likely LAST visit. Waited 25 minutes for our 7:30 Saturday night reservation for 8. Sat us at bare round table for 6 and small table for two stuck at end. No tablecloth? Mason jars for water glasses- weird colored lighting flashing all night-
Though waitress was sweet also totally inept, clearly not trained- had to fill our own water, salads came out same time as appetizers, had to ask for more pita? bread (think they must have run across the street to Moby Dick for bread! ) dinners came out in two shifts- they had no idea who ordered what. Never came back to see if we had everything. Check placed on table just a slip of paper like at a McDonalds. No checkholder- 4 credit cards charged. 1 pen so had to wait to sign check. Service and indifferent managers made pretty good food, a lousy dining experience- 8-(
Will not return until I see these easily fixed problems FIXED! Too many other choices within easy walk to waste time and money on Flavio—-
If this is how they are now operating-
Food was good. Too much noise so we sat in the back which was much quieter, i ordered the chicken piccata which was 5/10 could have been way better, person i was with got it with Parmesan which tasted way better so w/ parm/ i give it 7/10
Service fair, food nothing special. Specialty of the house Lobster Diavolo was flavorless (unless burnt tasting bland was the desired outcome) and other dishes pretty blah.
Food was outstanding, service was not great. Seemed to be understaffed and wait staff was not particularly prompt. Took about 30 minutes to be seated for a reservation that we had made a week in advance. Still, would recommend this restaurant due to the quality of the food.
The food was mediocre and the service terrible. As an example, we waited 15 mins trying to check in for the reservation, and no one was available to help. Eventually I asked a waitress who got someone to help me, and he said that he would try to help me but people with reservations had been waiting over an hour to get seated. I definitely Italy will not return to this restaurant.
Hip but very loud.
This restaurant felt more like a night club than a restaurant. Flashing colorful lights, concrete walls, white curtains everywhere? It wasn’t a very inviting atmosphere for a family dinner. The food was pretty good, but the service was lacking which can probably be attributed to understaffing. I didn’t appreciate how no one came over to ask how our food was and the fact that we had to ask multiple different people to bring over Parmesan cheese which took 10 minutes!!! The waiter also brought over our check when we were about to order dessert, which was simply unprofessional and rude. We all felt like we were being pushed out and that this restaurant was more concerned with churning out patrons and filling tables than actually making dinner a quality experience. Would not return
Restaurant was great, but open table had overbooked them big time.
