Restaurant is excellent the food is fantastic I would recommend anyone to go to that restaurant and experience authentic Caribbean food the owner is always present and very hospitable we have been to that restaurant several times and the food has always been excellent.
AMAZING customer service by Anthony.
Curry chicken was really good. But the fried wontons were cold, a bit disappointing.
Customer service is awesome. The food was delicious. Would recommend anyone visiting the city or a place to frequent for the locals.
Good food, good environment, good service what your do you want.
FYI, its a BYOB!!
It was great to try a new type of cuisine!
We had a Friday evening reservation. Seating was done quickly. The person serving as our wait person was friendly and she did a nice job of appearing when needed. Expectation vs reality is truly the way to sum up the food experience.
ONLINE MENU VERSUS RESTAURANT MENU
The menu online and the menu we were given were starkly different. Honestly it felt like bait and switch. There was no Phoulourie on the menu. There were no Roti dishes or Buss Up Shut dishes (which equates to 10 missing items). There were 3 sides missing from the menu (Callaloo, Rice and Beans, and the Boiled and Fried Cassava). The menu had no drinks. I don’t know if they actually had peanut punch or any of the others. I asked if they had sorrel tea and the wait person advised they would check because they weren’t sure. They did have it.
It was OK. A bit sweeter than others I have had.
Quite tasty. Looks nothing like the photo online, this was more of a puree.
I don’t know how long it was sitting around. Mediocre at best.
Served room temperature. I am not sure why it wasn’t served hot. The pumpkin puree was good. There were 3 green beans on the plate. The chickpea portion lack flavor. I spent a lot of time pushing it around on the plate. The rice was edible.
CHUNKY VEGETABLE CHOW MEIN
Served cold. Overly sweetened sauce.
SWEET CINNAMON PLANTAIN
Served cold. I have had these before elsewhere. Cinnamon is usually an enhancement not the overkill that existed here.
It was good. Unfortunately, it was also served cold.
I have to wonder if food is being made or if it is just sitting in hot plates not kept up to temperate. The it was quite a disappointing experience. I would expect the food to be served at temperature and have some flavor. We ate what we could because we had an event to go to and no opportunity to get anything else for the night. What I do know is that we won’t be going back again.
The food was cold, the rice was hard. Drinks had too ice so by the time it was time to drink it it was watery. The attendant told us the food would take 20 minites and we didn't recieve until 45 minutes later. Horrible customer service and food
We had a reservation but when we arrived, we were told there would be a wait, which is okay. Another couple who also had a reservation arrived after us and was also told there would be a wait. There was one very small table available and one table that was set for four. The waiter/host asked if we wanted the tiny table and we declined, as did the other couple. After about 25 minutes waiting, we asked if we could sit at the table for four and we were told no because it was reserved. A member of the staff brought another very small table out to the floor and paired it up with the tiny table, trying to make it a more usable table. The two tables were uneven but the staff put a cloth over them and reset the table(s). They asked if we wanted that and we asked again about the empty table for four and were told no for that one. Because we were going to a show and wanted to eat before the show, we took the tiny, uneven table. A few minutes later, the couple who arrived after us but were still waiting for their table was given the table for four that we had requested. The service was slow - we had to request water, even after initially “ordering” water as my beverage. Our meals were fine but not as good as we had hoped. Nothing wrong but just nothing special either. We had ordered the macaroni and cheese pie as a side dish to share with our entrees and we were almost finished our entrees when it finally arrived. Just an unpleasant experience and food that was nothing more than average. I do not recommend this place and we will not go back.
Ran out of one the appetizers (mussels) service was slow, cooked vegetables served cold(not explained) oxtails were too tough to bite through and waited so long on dessert that I had to cancel my order. Not a good experience at all, very disappointed!
This place has lovley decorations, the atmoshphere is great, the setting it awesome. The waiter and staff is very friendly and caters to your needs. The food taste amazing and is a good quantity for the price. I drove from Delaware just to taste their food and it was worth the drive . I definetly will be coming back here soon.
Where to park should have been more clear
Curries and wings were delicious! Goat was very good and not too boney. Servers were pleasant and nice. VERY convenient to the Met! Quant and relaxed atmosphere and you almost feel like you are in the Caribbean when you are in there.
We decided to try Flambo despite a few negative reviews on here and we are glad we did. The food was excellent and we definitely didn’t have to wait long to receive it.
Save room for dessert- the carrot cake was really good!
Food was authentic and delicious, and they were able to accommodate a vegan diet! Staff was very friendly and warm, love the energy and intention behind this restaurant
Very very grateful for your business. Thank you
Being that my wife is Jamaican, we were comparing the food being served v. her cooking..... Not even close. The collalou was canned, not fresh....the Escaveech red snapper was scorched/burned on one side, the toppings were not properly sauteed in vinegar......the rice and peas had no flavor...not even the rosemary was present... the peas did not taste like they were cooked as dried beans....they tasted canned.....
So sorry we couldn't rate it higher. She did NOT like this place. The service was excellent. The young lady was very polite, smiled a lot, good eye contact.
The passion fruit beverage good. We weren't expecting it to be freshly made.
Menu selection was VERY limited.... to be advertised as being "Caribbean (Trinidad) and Chinese", the only thing that resembled Asian fare was the Lo Mein..... we saw zero fried rice options on the menu...the appetizer selections were not indicative of any Asian fare.....the only reason why we decided to try them was because the restaurant was in close proximity to the jazz show we were going to see later that evening....
We felt the meal was not worth the $85 paid. I gave our server a nice tip only because she earned it. She had no control over what came out of the kitchen.
My girlfriend liked it - she had sex with me afterwards.
Food was ok. Service was slow. Some food came out cold. 1 meal was delivered almost after others were finished eating. No roti because it was event night even though the restaurant wasn't full.
Food was okay. Service was extremely slow despite the fact that there were very few people in the restaurant. It took forever to receive our entrees, which if they had been amazing might have been worth it. And we never received the drinks we ordered. Food simply wasn't worth the wait. Nothing special.
Amazing food and amazing staff, looking forward to returning!
Stopped here for dinner before a show at the Met (very close by). Interesting little place. My wife enjoyed her seafood dish, I was less impressed with the curry chicken which was a bit dry and a bit bland for a curry dish. I wish them well and will probably give them another try.
Stellar. Delicious. Awesome. Absolutely the best in every aspect. Can't wait to return!
My wife and I went to Flambo last Saturday night and though service was slow until the team decided who should be our server. Though the restaurant is small we got the feeling that the kitchen was slammed. Once the server issues were resolved our server was great. The food was very tasty and creative. We will go back.
I love Flambo every time I go. I wasn't aware that they have a more limited menu in place on nights when the new concert venue (the Met) has events, so people may want to keep that in mind. Two of my favorites were not available. However, the food we ordered was amazing as usual, the service was great and the owner came by to say hello. Loved it!
Food and service were very good. I only limited my food rating as I think they could use a broader menu. Suggested to owner they consider having 1 or 2 specials that are a little different than the option son the menu, but with a Carribbean flare.
When we entered, there were people leaving that had been waiting an hour and still hadn't had their food.
Music level was too high but good food and reasonable prices
Nice place that is somewhat unexpected. The food and service is good. I would definitely recommend this spot to others.
The food was interesting and different, the Curry sauce and the sauce for the Oxtail entree were very good. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, even reminding us when it was time to get to our show at the Met.
Stellar in every aspect. Upon entering the restaurant, you can feel a positive ambiance. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Service was outstanding. The food is beyond amazing: authentic, beautifully presented, and delicious. I look forward to going back. I highly recommend Flambo Caribbean.
How kind of you to say these words of support. It means alot, we only opened two years and we are learning the business and working hard to keep it up! This is my passion and I want to be very good at it. Thank you again.
Average service and average food, chicken was poor cuts of meat. Wings were great.
Hello Heinrich, because of you we change the meats to boneless and now some are giving us a hard time, but I agree with you. It is very difficult to please everyone.
Came on a Sunday night and practically had the restaurant to ourselves. Sever was sweet and attentive. Food was fresh, like literally everything is made to order, so expect a wait but so worth it! Owner and chef came out at the end of the meal and engaged my whole table in a wonderful inspirational conversation. So sweet. It was a perfect meal for my mum's birthday. As an island girl, I and my family approve, an we will return soon! We do wish there was some more vegan friendly options, there were a handful though. Also WHERE ARE THE DOUBLES!!! Add that to the menu and I will stop by daily! Overall if you are itching for authentic Trini cuisine or just Caribbean cuisine in general which is almost impossible to find in Philly, you will NOT be disappointed :)
Lovely service and out of this world snapper. Great to have a Trinidadian option!!
It was an excellent experience; from the service to the food. Alyse was an excellent host/server. Will definitely go back.
Made this reservation and when my husband and I got to the restaurant it was closed...
Not sure how I was able to make a reservation and they were not open.
Not certain if they are out of business or not.
Very unhappy about getting dressed up; ubering there and trying to open a locked door!
Really good food. The people were very friendly and service was great as well.
I wanted to enjoy this place because I love the style of food. We were the only people in there and yet it took a while for every course. The wings we're lukewarm as if they have been sitting which I find strange. They served me oxtails that looked like dog food, they were cut into the tiniest pieces I have ever seen. The chef came out to explain that he was sorry and that they hired a new meat cutter who went too far. It appeared to me in an effort to save money they basically took 3 oxtails chopped them to bits in order to stretch them and still turn a big profit. Once Upon a Time this may have been a good place, but now it's pretty dingy and the food is mediocre.
Absolutely delicious! Went for a longer lunch with some colleagues to introduce them to some wonderful Trinidadian cuisine and Flambo did not disappoint. The curried shrimp with buss-up-shot (a Trinidadian paratha bread) that I had was wonderful. My colleagues all enjoyed their curried goat, curried chicken, pelau (rice, pigeon peas and chicken), oxtail and macaroni pie.
Definitely check out Flambo, you'll love it.
