We always enjoy Flamant. In the last year we have dined there at least 5 times. We do not dine out often and we like to support local businesses and restaurants. Our waitress, Taylor, was prompt, efficient, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. We were a party of six and everyone was pleased with all the appetizers, entrees. We did not order desserts.
One couple has wanted to go to Flamant since reading a review in the Washington Post and they were pleased and will return.
Only one opportunity for a first impression. There was an issue with my husband’s meal and it was not handled gracefully - the person argued with him about the matter. At this price point in Annapolis, the meal and the service have to be great. I would return with other companions, but he will not go back.
Can’t say enough good things about this lovely neighborhood Bistro! Everything about it makes me happy! The space, the people, and always the FOOD! We are so lucky to have this level of cuisine in our own backyard. We’ve been coming here every week for about a year and have never tired of the experience. Chef is very generous in sharing his innovations. Seen in the photos is a hot smoked salmon with steamed cabbage and because he over heard me say saying “next time I’m ordering the crab cake with broccoli “, he added a mini version to our dinner! The week before he made seared scallops with deep fried crepes filed with celery root purée. Everyone needs to give this place a shot! And it’s the perfect size space, little need to worry about catching a virus!

I loved the menu, the quaint setting and the energy of this restaurant. Plus we dined with an 19 month old and they were very accommodating.
This restaurant never disappoints! Quality of food is at the highest. The sauces that accompany each dish truly elevate the experience.
Wines offered provide beautiful pairings.
We had a great time, service was excellent with Austin. Steak Au Poivre excellent but the pheasant was just ok. Sauce was lacking flavor, brussel sprouts were not cooked well enough, they were not even warm. Coffee was excellent. Last time here, we dined in the back room which I think has far more ambiance and less noisy.

The only complaint is that we were seated right by the kitchen and the space was tight in order for the waiter and the server to reach the table next to us kept brushing my shoulder
Our waiter was very attentive 👍 and the service was very efficient
We tried the Crispy Crab Rolls, Duck confit, Salad and share the Beef plate it was very good the French fries was just an average
And the Cote D’Rhone was very good
Service was slow. Took ten minutes before someone showed up to take our drink order. Also, took along time for food to show up. Had to send the fish back as it was not cooked, still raw in middle.
Went on Saturday night for my husband's birthday. We haven't been since the restaurant first opened a few years ago. Loved to see the expansion into the back room- ambiance was really nice with a crackling fire. Reservation at 6:15PM, we were seated right away but the service was SLOW. We weren't in a rush, but overall the dinner took 2 hours and we didn't even have dessert. Hubs liked the cocktail menu and the bartender was nice enough to make me a mocktail (7 months preggo). We split the crispy artichokes- right on the verge of too salty- and lobster bisque. This was NOT a bisque. More of a smooth broth with not a ton of flavor. Hubs had the pheasant vol-au-vent, which was like a deconstructed pot pie, and I had the crabcake. Pheasant was okay, not bursting with flavor, and the frites that came on the side needed another minute in the fryer to crisp. The crab was great, but the $46 price was outrageous for what was actually on the plate. We wanted to get dessert, but had already been sitting for 2 hours and didn't want to continue to wait. Love that we have this fine dining option in Annapolis, but overall the food is okay.
High hopes - dashed. Overall, the food quality and quantity was fine but not for the price. For 4 people - Appetizers, drinks (mostly beer), dinner and 2 deserts set us back over 550. With the exception of the crab rolls, which were great, food was “fine “ and very small portions. Probably won’t be going back even with the dearth of good restaurants in Annapolis.
I go here frequently and love the food and service every time. It's a great place to go for a delicious meal and excellent service!!
I love their food, especially the fois gras! Their Valentine’s Day menu was alright relative to their typical menu but it was still an amazing night.
Beautiful unique dinner, great special occasion place. We will be back.
I realize it was V-Day but price and food were out of balance - IMO as well as my table friends.
The food was very good but not good enough to warrant the price. There are many other restaurants I would choose over this when paying premium prices. Enjoyable Valentine's dinner but doubt I will return.
We were surprised by the fairly good ratings this establishment held. In our experience on a Thursday evening, the service was super slow with limited engagement by the waiter. It took a long time to get our bottle of wine once ordered. Overall the food was extremely disappointing. The lobster bisque, if you want to call it that was nothing less more than bouillon broth with some sort of a paste added in that did not even mix well with the broth. It was tasteless. The place was clean and bright, but the seating was not comfortable for leisurely dining. They had some good wines on the menu as well. We liked the location. Easy to get to, but off the beaten path. But overall, a disappointment and we would not return unless something changes for the positive.
Imaginative, complex, and delicious dishes. Highly recommended!
Brilliant food and atmosphere.
This was our first visit and we were so happy with our experience at Flamant. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. It was nice to be able to taste unusual things such as pheasant and venison. We will definitely be back
Flamant holds the title for the most phenomenal meal that I've had in a long time. It's situated in an adorable renovated home near downtown Annapolis, and boasts a clean, modern interior. The wait staff was exceptionally diligent and gracious, which was especially impressive given than several of them looked as though they were high school aged. My sweetheart and I had the Crispy Jerusalem Artichoke, Blue Crab Rolls, and Duck Confit Duck small plates and savored every bite. We shared the Grilled Barramundi entrée and I am still having dreams about it. (The Belgian Fries didn't taste much different from traditional boardwalk fries to me, but they were a nice addition to our meal.) The Pecan Speculoos Tart dessert was made with thin layers of phylloh dough, similar to baklava, and was amazing accompanied by the Dutchman's Nightcap. And, the Black Machete cocktail is a must-have for mezcal lovers. I cannot wait to return!
New favorite restaurant in Annapolis
Great dinner - we were celebrating both of our birthdays; we noted that on Open Table but restaurant did not do anything or recognize it - that was the only disappointing thing about our experience!
The good news: food was good and the menu was creative. The service was fair, but it was a busy night.
The Bad news: We were seated at a table along the wall in the bar area. It was awful and here's why:
1. Wait staff constantly walking past, often bumping into my chair.
2. The glass shelf was next to my shoulder and I had a waiter constantly leaning over me to either place glasses on the shelf or take some off. Very annoying
3. The bar got very full with people waiting for tables and they stood right next are table while we were eating. Not very nice to have someone's backside so close to the table with food on it.
4. It was very loud and hard to talk.
5. The table seemed very small.
Suggestion: Do not use that table in the bar.
My wife and I are long-time diners at Flamant, but it was the first visit for our friends--both vegetarians. Just as we'd expected, all four of us were delighted with our starters, entrees, and desserts. If you're a foodie, Flamant is hands-down Annapolis' finest restaurant.
When we made our reservation we were not informed that the restaurant had a limited menu that evening- they had a tasting menu for $140 a person. When we arrived and realized the situation the manager said he would charge our card for 2 out of the 4 guests before we could leave. Meaning, they wanted to charge us $280 without even reviving any food. They eventually let us leave but I was very put off by the customer service response to a misunderstanding, particularly since their website did not say anything about only offering a limited menu that evening OR the price of that menu.
Food is artsy. Went there for New Years Eve Dinner. Did not like the Squab and several other items. I had much better lobster bisque at other places. I love lobster bisque and was dissappointed. My husband was still hungry after we left after spending $$$.
I want to give it more stars, the food was good, the atmosphere was nice, but the service was disappointing. We sat with our plates empty, napkins on the table, trying to make eye contact and waiting for our server to check in on us for what must’ve been 15-20 minutes. He was able to check on the two tables right next to us three times (asked if they wanted more drinks, “make sure you weren’t waiting on me”) before he came to us, and didn’t even ask my husband if he wanted another beer or offer a dessert menu. We would’ve gotten dessert but decided to skip since we didn’t want to spend another 45 minutes waiting on our server.
Spectacular on all levels. Wonderful culinary experience coupled with down to earth, attentive service.

Outstanding food from a very creative Belgian chef (Tom) with a menu that changes with season and food availability. The Blue Crab Rolls and Duck Breast (for 2) are outstanding signature dishes that usually available. We also had a delicious cauliflower velote (soup). Other menu offerings looked so good that we wished we could try all of them! Our server, Austin, was very helpful and appropriately attentive. Very good wine list at decent prices. Happy hour includes drink and wine specials in the bar area. We'll definitely go back!
Dinner with a friend who wanted to try the restaurant
The food and service was outstanding. This is the perfect venue for a business meal.
We were happy to bring two bottles of wine, a white and a red, and pay the corkage fee (The wines would have been at least $200 on a wine list.) The white wine which I had asked, and the server agreed, to be poured with the 1st several courses. It was poured very late; I should have done it myself! The red was handled well.
Most of the food was good but not jaw-droppingly so. The endive-Prosciutto had very little flavor. The mustard-grapefruit short rib was a poorly trimmed, unattractive piece of meat - most of which was left on the plate. The Blue crab rolls were good, but in essence, Taquitos. The Chestnut Veloute was very good as was the wild boar Bolognese. The roasted duck was upstaged by the presentation and the delicious vegetables that came with it. Desserts were good.
I'd like to go back and try this place again.
Went for advertised 'date night' menu, but they decided not to serve it. Three items we picked instead were all pretty good (esp. corvina) but things were very slow - well over an hour.
But they did comp us the fish after I noted the delay, so will give them a third try sometime.
We showed up early (and they had misplaced our OpenTable reservation), so it wasn't that busy. Guess they just got backed up with later arrivals.
Delicious, innovative food. So many interesting dishes, I want to return many times to try them all!
This is definitely a place for foodies who love great wine and a casual atmosphere. The menu is challenging but interesting. Nothing necessarily tastes like you think it might and that's a very good thing. The chef challenges you with minimal descriptions and delivers excellence at every bite. Four of us went for the first time on Saturday night. It was busy but we never felt that. A nice fireplace was nearby; lots of friendly customers sharing suggestions; very good and positive vibe. We all loved our meal, the service and the place. We will be back!!!!
