They have changed their menu to fixed price with 3 or 5 courses, just was here in February and totally different menu. Not as good now and way more expensive with more food than you need or want. Have been here many times since our daughter started at CU. Not sure we will be back for dinner...maybe drinks on deck.
Quality and variety/menu options have dropped, and prices have risen with new chef/GM. Our salt covered filet and potato entree kind of killed the even, and the likelihood we'll be returning. $300 disappointment. (for 2 of us)
Best place to celebrate a special occasion in boulder - great service, atmosphere and cuisine
41st anniversary and visiting from Alabama
Flagstaff house still remains one of boulder’s top restaurants
Amazing food experience as always.
Service was great when we had it. I do believe they may have been short staffed the night we were there ? (Mar 18). We waited soooo long for our food (leftovers) to be packed and soooo long for then check and then soooo long to get our credit card to be returned. All was great except for these moments.
The Flagstaff house offers the very best combination of quality food, outstanding views, and fine dining service Boulder has to offer. Every employee was outstanding in their level of service and desire to make you evening perfect. The wine list is extraordinary. The food delicious.
Absolutely outstanding. Meal of a lifetime!
Took my hubby here for his birthday. We are both new to the area from Florida and absolutely loved this place. Service was on point, and the food was out of this world. Two very happy customers that will definitely be returning!!
I brought my husband here for his 50th birthday. Our server, Chris, was amazing. The food was outstanding! You can’t beat the views. Definitely special-occasion worthy!
We went there for My Birthday last weekend and everything was beyond amazing. The wait staff were courteous, very sweet and extremely knowledgable about their menu items. They made me feel so special for my birthday it was perfect!
Absolutely wonderful service and the chef was incredibly accommodating of dietary restrictions. Definitely worth every penny as the food and service were five stars.
We we're a bit crowded at our table for two. My husband had to move his seat so the person seated at the next table could get up and out of his chair. Great views of Boulder, but only one of us could see out the window. We switched seats halfway through the meal.
Lovely dining experience. Old-school attention to detail and professional, thoughtful service of a kind that is very unusual in Boulder these days. Many thoughtful touches, from the amuse bouche to high-end salt and pepper grinders on each table. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. A truly memorable experience.
Beautiful restaurant and spectacular views, service was great but food was a bit lacking. As my son said, “if you could eat with your eyes the food would be spectacular but that not being the case it was only fair for the mouth”. Still a wonderful place to go for the experience but for the food there are many great restaurants down the mountain that my taste buds longed for.
We hadn’t been to the Flagstaff House for a long time so I don’t know if this was an off night from the kitchen but we still had a good time given the great service and wonderful ambiance.
Our group of 7 (family) took my mom to the Flagstaff House for her 80th birthday. We have been there several times in the past for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries and the Flagstaff House never disappoints. The setting is lovely with a wonderful view of Boulder, the staff are top notch and attentive, delivery of food professional and well-timed, and the food is excellent.
sorry, but we missed Crystal Wine Glasses - at this wine prices
Amazing atmosphere, great recommendation for wine, food service was polite and well mannered. Meal was prepared well. Definitely a place to try once. However I will be there more often!
Fabulous as always! We are making this a new habit*
What a fabulous place to eat. The server was amazing! Aly? was terrific . What a beautiful view! All the lovely details , the bread was also a lovely treat!
Well , the lamb at $68 was pretty good, but not divine. Also the vergys were heavy and the whole plate was brown. I needed green in there and a light vegy like asparagus or even a wonderful potato dish.
We had an amazing experience at The Flagstaff House. The service and food were incredible!
While we were disappointed with our “time out” corner seat (so many tables with amazing views, none of which we were seated at), the food and service more than made up for it. Flagstaff House is a true dining experience-from the many small tastes that were served between courses, to the very attentive and perfectly choreographed table service. While the menu price is slightly expensive, it is well worth it when you consider the amazing service and all the extras. And the view.
We ate here on out last night of vacation. We are from Ohio and requested a table near a window with a view. The Flagstaff House accommodated our request. They were very polite and we didn't feel rushed at all during our dining experience. I will say to come hungry as with any traditional upscale dining experience they serve an amuse-boushe and a pallet cleanser before your meal. They have a top notch wine list and the food was excellent. They views are stunning.
Excellent in every way. Pricey but good for special occasions
Looks just like it did 20 years ago. The only thing they have going for themselves is the view. The menu/food prep was nothing special and for the incredibly high price, absurd. marginal all around...at best. Bummer, but it all came back to me once we sat down.
Unbelievable experience. My daughter and I had the best evening together at Flagstaff. Food and service were exceptional. I highly recommended! (Must try the lamb!)
The best restaurant we have been to in Boulder. Our waiter was wonderful and took such good care of us. He made our anniversary a special night. Wonderful and beautiful restaurant.
BRILLIANT! Consistently SUPERIOR food, service & presentation. ‘Classic elegance’ is a gross understatement. The Queen of England doesn’t get spoiled as reverently as you will be at Flagstaff House.
LOCATION, location, location. ‘Billionaire’s Private Estate’ open to the public - and it sits atop Boulder with a God’s-eye view of the misbehaving heathen down below.
MAGAZINE-quality presentation of each and every plate. And if they charged by the plate, this would be a $1,000 meal. Each treat is elegantly presented on a stack of plates layered with style.
FEELS LIKE they stole the staff from the Taj Mahal or Buckingham Palace in order to ensure that you feel like a King (or Queen, if so ‘oriented’). The staff magically transforms your table into a banquet. If you blink, you’ll miss the slight-of-hand. We must have had no less than a dozen staff engage us, directly. Ask for the bathroom? Get an escort! On the move? Doors are opened for you. Old Skool royal treatment all the way.
Did I mention the food? OUTRAGEOUS. My palate has just been to Disneyland for the fireworks show.
WHEELBARROW required for exit. When the curtain falls on this production, you’re gonna need assistance to the door, because these portions aren’t delicate in size.
SPECTACULAR, BEST-IN-CLASS, heck; BEST-IN-STATE, as far as I know. The absolute BEST dining experience of my life. Makes Chop House and Ruth’s Chris look like Carnival food.
A Fantastic experience. Service, food, wine and view were exceptional!
Food Temp was biggest issue consistent through the night. Good flavors - just not hot.
Back when I moved into Boulder, the Flagstaff was *the* high-end restaurant in the area. 30 years later, and there's now a ton of offerings down on Pearl, all around town, and in Denver if you want to go that far. New places like Frasca and the Black Cat are the hot tickets now.
Still, the Flagstaff still does not disappoint. I know we rarely talk about "value" when judging high-end restaurants, but I have to say, in this case, it's worth mentioning. Although it's certainly not a cheap evening, you get a lot of value for your money at the Flagstaff - a few that can't be beat, impeccable service, a relaxed, convivial atmosphere where, hold the phone - you can actually *hear* your dining companion speaking at normal tone of voice, great food, and a variety of little touches and extras that turn an evening out into a celebration.
I went there once or twice in the past on special occasions, and then, for some reason, never went back. This weekend, I wondered why. We'll definitely be going back when we have occasion to celebrate - maybe even when we don't, but just want to celebrate life.
We love the Flagstaff house when we want a nice meal with an amazing view of Boulder. They staff attends to every need and the food is pretty darn good. We will come here year after year for our fancy family events
This was a great place for a special occasion. Very good staff. Amy our waitress was amazing and we had a later reservation so she really spent her time with us. She even took the time to write down the wine I had on a special card.
Our second visit was even better than our first a couple of years ago! The only thing better then the fabulous view was the incredible food and outstanding service. We went an hour before sunset and just enjoyed watching the valley light up and the lovely sky. It's a really easy drive up...not to be missed.
This place has always been a great date night place for me and my Fiancé. We love the views and the staff is great.
A lot of restaurants have great tasting food and Flagstaff House is certainly one of them. So, go for the food, but what sets them apart is how the staff makes you feel special, the amazing view out over the Foothills and Boulder, and the romantic ambiance.
My wife and I have been to Flagstaff House at least half a dozen times and each visit has been fantastic. This time we decided to start at the bar for cocktails and then get seated for dinner. There are many tables by windows and we once again got a table for two with a great view as the sun set and the lights of Boulder began to shine. Dinner was excellent and included palate cleansers between courses. Dessert was creative, on fire (literally, for a few moments) and quite chocolatey.
Flagstaff House has it all: great food, very rare location and view, superb service, and a truly romantic atmosphere. Here's where you can dress to the nines to make the evening that much more special. Savor your time at Flagstaff House and share the moment.
Once again we were not wowed by the service or the food! In the early 2000nd we come to the Flagstaff House several times a year! It was our go to place for birthday, graduation, teams winning the champion. But the service dropped and the menu was never updated. So we thought we would try one more time! The service was not very good and we had to wait a long time for our main entry to be served. The wife ordered the filet and asked for it to be medium rare on the rare side! It was medium, the trout was boring! We have always thought highly of the FlagStaff house but we will not be returning again for a long time!
My husband and I have a tradition of going to flagstaff house for our anniversary since moving to Boulder and we absolutely love it. We look forward to this dining experience all year, it’s our favorite Boulder restaurant.
Wonderfully romantic restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Plus the beautiful view! What more could we ask for.
Very nice restaurant with good food and service. Perfect for special occasions.
