    Terrible service, took forever to have our order taken and to get food even though they only had 6 tables seated in the entire place. Over-rated and overpriced. I had really been looking forward to it and it was such a disappointment. Food was bad on top of the other issues.

    My husband and I both ordered filets medium-rare. When we cut into them, they were both grey all the way through, very tough to cut, overy seasoned (very salty) and cold. My husband paid extra for the crab on top. It was also cold and a very small amount for the price. We've never sent a steak back at a restaurant until this time. We called the waitress over and she agreed the steaks were not cooked right and she brought them back. We waited a long time for our 2nd dinner. The manager did come out and apologize and said they were still training the chef. They've been open many months. We were given to complimentary Caesar salads...no offer to discount the bill or ask us if we wanted an appetizer while we waited. The 2nd steaks were much better, but still not medium rare...they were a little pink in the very middle. But we went ahead and ate them, not wanting to send a steak back a 2nd time. The 6 oz filets were $28 and came with 1 side. I ordered the mushrooms, and there was about a tablespoon worth of mushrooms on the plate. It was a very expensive meal for the quality. There are better restaurants in Fredericksburg with better food and at a more reasonable price. We actually went to another restaurant after dinner for drinks, dessert, and coffee.

    Wonderful experience! A bit of a slow start with the host who seated us. For the atmosphere, a tidier appearance would have been more impressive, but the person was pleasant. Our server was interactive with a little bit of a reserved sense of humor. Having us sample the wines before finalizing our decision was a very pleasant surprise. The food was phenomenal! Hubby had the Hanger Steak. It was cooked perfectly, delicious and melt in your mouth. The ribs had a wonderful and unique barbecue sauce. We also enjoyed the pork betty appetizer. The desserts, flourless chocolate cake & caramel macchiato creme brulé cheesecake were underwhelming but, admittedly, I'm extremely hard to impress with desserts. Overall, the atmosphere was relaxing and seemed to fit every occasion from casual to more upscale.

    Food is mostly excellent - if somewhat expensive. But the ambiance goes a long way towards making that easier to deal with. Don't sleep on the Chop House Cobb Salad or the Port Wine Demi-Glace.

    Steak was lukewarm. They put it back on the grill which advanced the doneness past what we ordered. Also the Grits were completely Bland, no flavor, not even salt. No manager came to check on us, as I would think would be customary for such a failure of basic supposedly “high end” food preparation. Disappointing. Won’t be back.

    Overall it was a nice environment. The issue was that we had to consistently flag down wait staff for simple things like water refills, salt & pepper, and even a steak knife. The food was ok.
