I really love this pub. I sat in the potting shed and there were just a few other people. (It was Monday!) The bench had cushions it was very comfortable and we were looking at the rolling hills in the sunshine. The staff were all really friendly and kind to my dog. I had asparagus which was very good followed by the Five Bells Goan chicken curry also delicious. Then we went for a walk in the fields. It was all lovely.

Ambience very nice. Nice pub setting with style and busy but cosy atmosphere. Food is very good perhaps slightly on the small side. Service was OK. Friendly although we ended up being served by 4 different staff. The two male waiters were sadly uninterested in our enjoyment of our night. No table water unless we asked. When we ordered mains no questions for sides? When the arrived they were just left and hecwas gone! No concern if we needed sauces etc. I had to get up twice to get service. Both males had to learn to smile...it was more a reluctant grimace like wind?! Finally we had to change our wine but both were added to our bill. Manager was very polite and friendly but was putting out fires and looked under pressure. Would visit again but would be more prepared in respect of service

Our celebratory lunch with family members was a lunch to remember for all the right reasons. Staff were very welcoming, polite and most professional. Food was delicious and plentiful. We will return.

Food excellent, price reasonable for such an attractive establishment, but service could have been better. Slow delivery of food, but we were in no rush. However, a couple of extra orders needed a prompt. Disappointing response of ‘very busy’ with no apology, then instant delivery after the prompt.

The food was generally ok, but just some points to make. The beef pie was good but the accompanying vegetables were very meagre: just a small scoop of mash and small amount of cabbage. Prawns were good in the curry and plenty of them, but sauce had rather more heat than expected (maybe the heat level should have been noted on the menu). Those who had the apple crumble felt it was not very authentic, as the topping was more like crushed digestive biscuits and too crunchy, and the accompanying cream was very thin single cream and not double cream. We generally had a good night and the ambience was very relaxing.

The experience was consistent with all of my previous visits, in that the food and service were excellent. This place definitely qualifies as a 'local gem'. It's well worth the five mile walk each way from Sellindge 😊👍 Thanks to all the staff. The main part of our service today was by Irena and D'Arcy but all of the staff were friendly and welcoming thanks 👍 Kevin (and 'Ben' the Labrador)🙂

We visited the sister pub (The Woolpack) to The Five Bells Inn yesterday for Sunday lunch and were so impressed that we decided to visit this pub instead and it did not disappoint! All the food was delicious along with the attentive service generally - Chloe did a wonderful job of looking after us. A shame we don't live nearby as we would definitely love to visit again. Thank-you!
