five: a new american restaurant
We enjoyed light dinner and drinks on the patio while watching the town Christmas parade. Such a fun time and the staff were amazing and engaging! Great time!!
Much better than expected. Have eaten at a lot of restaurants locally. And despite Five’s relatively newness; the food was delicious and prompt. Service wasn’t too bad, and neither were the drinks. Would recommend and look forward to returning.
Restaurant was a little noisier than usual at this time/day…but staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful when my husband had a mild panic incident.
service great as always
be cautioned that because of the fresh, seasonal nature of menu, they sometimes run out of a few dishes
Great staff and food was awesome as well!
Food, service, ambiance are great.
The noise level is usually perfect.
Last night it was too noisy; it was difficult to have a conversation. Still I love this place. It's one of my favorites!
Sunday morning brunch date, food and service were amazing as always! Love the frequent variations in menu to keep things new and interesting!
The Sunday brunch menu was limited and the food was bland. Benedict eggs were initially undercooked but after second try the eggs were slightly better but seemed like they just heated the whole dish because when brought back the English muffin was so dry and tough that it couldn’t be cut, the ham was also dry and tough. Last but not least they were “out” of decaf coffee. Overall, overpriced and very disappointing.
This is always a nice restaurant. It has a very "upscale" feel without being pretentious. The service is always great. The food is very good...little pricey but the overall experience makes it worth the cost. The acoustics are not the best so when it's full it sounds very loud...but again...not horrible...very energetic.
My salmon was absolutely excellent!
Not good. Do not go here. Chef didn’t even show up so half the menu wasn’t available
The food was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors was spot on. My steak was cooked to perfection.
Everything was great except we were anticipating eating outside since it was a beautiful morning and they were not serving outside. My family who were visiting from out of state prefer outdoor dining although all servers wore masks.
Food was great!
Flavorful, expertly prepared dishes. Warm, enthusiastic service. Small but well-chosen wine list.
The staff is so friendly that we immediately felt at home. The restaurant’s vibe is cool yet comfortable. The owner, Caleb, took time to sit down and visit since we were from out of town. His charismatic personality drives the restaurant. Now, the food: it was spectacular. Amazing flavor combos and textures, perfectly prepared salmon, fresh ingredients- it was an amazing meal. If you are in Manhattan, KS, don’t miss dining here.
Caleb and his staff were AMAZING as usual!! Everyone is so friendly and attentive whether they are your server or not. The arancini were SO delicious!!
As noted in the previous ratings, the quality of the food was good, but the ambience was poor, especially for a restaurant with "posh" prices. The junky music tape they had playing did nothing to enhance the quality of the experience either.
My friends and I went for brunch on Sunday. Great brunch options, amazing service and the bottomless mimosas are great with many flavor options! Kyler and the rest of the staff are great!
We enjoyed our Anniversary meal very much: excellent food and presentation in a very nice setting. We really appreciated having subdued music and only one TV--over the bar. We could converse and focus on the delicious food without the noise and distractions of many restaurants.
Five is definitely one of the better area restaurants, with a unique decor and menu that is often experimental in a good way. Portions are attractive and sensibly sized, with flavors that linger in memory. Our server and her colleagues who came by the table were a delight to visit with.
Food was good and my boy Justin kept them margaritas coming without hesitation 💯
Having just moved from DC, my wife and I were not expecting to find such outstanding food in MHK; but we were pleasantly wrong! The pork belly and the burger were some of the best we’ve ever had worldwide and I would return even for just those. We had oUr 10 year anniversary dinner there last night and between the two of us, we ordered half of all menu items and were not at all displeased. It was a wonderful meal. Their wine and beer selections are small but well curated. We will be returning and can heavily recommend Five.
This is our second time at five and each time the food has been outstanding. Chef Michael continues to add interesting combinations of food. The menu changes with the seasonal availability of ingredients. Our was cooked to perfection.
We were greeted and served by a very courteous and friendly staff! My husband had the prime rib and I had the seafood ravioli — both were excellent! We appreciated the outstanding service and will definitely go back again!
Wonderful atmosphere, delightful drinking and the most glorious food in Manhattan!
Always a wonderful meal. Excellent service.
Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was great and large portions of food. Will definitely be back!
I always love going to five for dinner or brunch. Always such a welcoming staff with amazing dishes. I eat here probably at least once a week. Plenty of variety on the menu and everything is made well with high quality ingredients. The food will not let you down.
Had a phenomenal time and experience. I will definitely return!
We had the special beef stroganoff it was excellent and of course always the stuffed dates for appetizers.
highly recommend this restaurant
We have never had a bad meal here
Thank you for a wonderful meal and evening
Amazing ! We loved everything about our experience at Five. Delicious food, very friendly and attentive service ,and neat atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu !
Caleb and Muriel offer a fantastic space with delicious food and superb cocktails. Caleb is kind, warm hearted, and a wonderful story teller. We dine there every time we are in town. The vibe is casual and friendly with a personal touch of genuine warmth. I recommend without reservation.
When we walked in there were very few people which made us nervous. The service was excellent. The wine, apps, soup and salad were excellent. The dinner was good, but not quite the flavor sensation the first courses were. We’d definitely go back!
We received our 4 courses in this order
2 (took 20 minutes)
1 (after asking for it 3 times)
I don’t know what the plan is for servers and their sections here, but it’s isn’t working. The food was great, but we were seen by 4 different servers and neglected for 20 minutes at a time. Won’t be back.
Valentines dinner was great. The food and atmosphere were perfect. The service was good, the courses were timed out nicely. The cost was reasonable for dinner, we even had drinks and the price was less than expect. We will be back for brunch.
The food was very good, and the service was excellent. I was not blown away by the selections on the fixed menu for that particular evening, however, what we did order was very good and staff was highly accommodating.
First time to visit. Had heard mixed reviews but wanted to give it a try. Overall we were disappointed. Can’t really think of any area that was better than fair. Service inconsistent with either having long waits (almost ignored) for things like water and drinks to having three staff stop by back to back to back to ask if we were ready to order entrees. Drinks? Watered down and not flavorful. Food? I had pork chop (dry and bland) and my wife had chicken (Just OK). Both were fair at best. Value? Based on the above challenges, and rather high prices for Manhattan, KS, five is a poor value. Don’t write many reviews, especially negative ones, but felt it necessary because of our overall dissatisfaction. Manhattan needs more restaurants like five so hopefully our experience was an outlier.
Enjoyed our dinner celebrating Vday. I loved the special drinks offered and the mussels were great! We will def be back!!
Secret gem in the heart of downtown Manhattan! Creative and diverse menu, and delicious I might add!
