five: a new american restaurant
Had a phenomenal time and experience. I will definitely return!
We had the special beef stroganoff it was excellent and of course always the stuffed dates for appetizers.
highly recommend this restaurant
We have never had a bad meal here
Thank you for a wonderful meal and evening
Amazing ! We loved everything about our experience at Five. Delicious food, very friendly and attentive service ,and neat atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu !
Caleb and Muriel offer a fantastic space with delicious food and superb cocktails. Caleb is kind, warm hearted, and a wonderful story teller. We dine there every time we are in town. The vibe is casual and friendly with a personal touch of genuine warmth. I recommend without reservation.
When we walked in there were very few people which made us nervous. The service was excellent. The wine, apps, soup and salad were excellent. The dinner was good, but not quite the flavor sensation the first courses were. We’d definitely go back!
We received our 4 courses in this order
2 (took 20 minutes)
1 (after asking for it 3 times)
I don’t know what the plan is for servers and their sections here, but it’s isn’t working. The food was great, but we were seen by 4 different servers and neglected for 20 minutes at a time. Won’t be back.
Valentines dinner was great. The food and atmosphere were perfect. The service was good, the courses were timed out nicely. The cost was reasonable for dinner, we even had drinks and the price was less than expect. We will be back for brunch.
The food was very good, and the service was excellent. I was not blown away by the selections on the fixed menu for that particular evening, however, what we did order was very good and staff was highly accommodating.
First time to visit. Had heard mixed reviews but wanted to give it a try. Overall we were disappointed. Can’t really think of any area that was better than fair. Service inconsistent with either having long waits (almost ignored) for things like water and drinks to having three staff stop by back to back to back to ask if we were ready to order entrees. Drinks? Watered down and not flavorful. Food? I had pork chop (dry and bland) and my wife had chicken (Just OK). Both were fair at best. Value? Based on the above challenges, and rather high prices for Manhattan, KS, five is a poor value. Don’t write many reviews, especially negative ones, but felt it necessary because of our overall dissatisfaction. Manhattan needs more restaurants like five so hopefully our experience was an outlier.
Enjoyed our dinner celebrating Vday. I loved the special drinks offered and the mussels were great! We will def be back!!
Secret gem in the heart of downtown Manhattan! Creative and diverse menu, and delicious I might add!
Excellent service, very pleasant experience. The food was wonderful. We had the filet and chicken, both were delicious.
We had a Thanksgiving dinner there. It was a fixed menu which allowed individuals to make choices for each course. All of the food was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend.
We were there on Thanksgiving, so it was not their regular menu. We had our choice among three appetizers, three entrees (each coming with two sides), & three desserts. Each meal cost $45. Both of us had an apple-pecan salad with balsamic vinaigrette that was exceptional. I had braised beef marinated in an espresso sauce that was perfectly prepared & delicious. My wife had turkey with cranberry sauce. The cranberry sauce was tart & quite good for dipping each bite of turkey. We both had the stuffing which was amazing. I forget what all was in it other than brussel sprouts, but it was really good. I saved my last bite for it, because I wanted its flavors to linger with me. My wife had mashed potatoes while I had the mashed sweet potatoes seasoned with peppers. In virtually any other meal, this would have been my last bite. The combination of sweet & spicy was remarkable. For dessert my wife had the pumpkin pie (which she thought was good) & coffee (which was extremely satisfying). I had chai cheesecake with a caramel apple sauce that was intriguing & quite tasty. The meals are pricey, but if you're not afraid of the sticker shock, you'll most definitely want to try this place out.
It was our first time in Manhattan Kansas and it was Thanksgiving. The staff at Five were great as well as the food. We had a great Thanksgiving experience.
The atmosphere was our reason for trying Five. We wanted somewhere quiet where we could have a conversation. In that regard, it was perfect. The staff were ALL very attentive, not just our specific waitress. The food we ordered was very good, and the prices were reasonable, but the menu was a little limited for us.
The service was outstanding! Colby was a gracious host and made our dinner truly memorable. He offered great suggestions on cocktails and dinner- which by the way was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back!
Our family had dinner at Five after a K-State win. The food was delicious! I highly recommend the salmon—it was among the best I’ve had anywhere, the meatballs and petit filet were also great. The lobster roll appetizers were fantastic, and the tiramisu was delicious. All-in-all, a wonderful experience!
Very good food. The owner checked up on us. It was great for a date atmosphere.
Food was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful prices. We had a lovely dinner and visit with our daughter. It was nice to be at a place that allowed us to enjoy our time with her.
The restaurant is trying very hard, but we would not return at this time.
I love this restaurant
Food is wonderful , flavorful, and presentation great.
Too bad others have not discovered this great restaurant
Ambiance is lighter and brighter; the food and service excellent as always. Della "V"oce has transitioned seamlessly into "V." Highly recommend!
DELICIOUS!!! We loved each item we ordered! Such a unique select menu that featured a good variety of choices.... everything from appetizers to soups & salads, to small plates to entrees and absolutely heavenly house made desserts!!!
Service was impeccable and the server checked back with us throughout the evening to make sure we were well taken care of. Kudos to this creative and amazingly talented chef!!!
We highly recommend “FIVE”..., you will be pleasantly surprised at what a scrumptious dining experience you’ll find there!!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal here - the owner was kind and went out of his way to make my birthday celebration with my family go great! The food was some of the best we have had in Kansas (We moved here from NYC/NJ about two years ago and have really missed food that is prepared with the same attention to detail and taste sensibility that we enjoyed there). The absolute best martini I have had since moving here. All in all, great food, wonderful staff, prices are on point for the quality.
Five has a very creative and interesting menu. Had catfish bites, hush puppies and cold slaw all were wonderful. The sidecar cocktail was very good - one of the best.
Food is always good and prices for most are reasonable. Manager is also very good trying to take care of his customers when he sees they are not being taken care of. Our server, was slow and hard to catch.
Menus were dirty and smudged and the wine list the price per glass was cut off so you didn't know what the price was. Interior might be improved with a little paint, etc.
Brunch with the Bloody Mary bar. Had the Tropical French toast and the Smoked salmon Benedict. Our new favorites!
Brunch was yummy. We had the build you own plate. Scrambled eggs were not just plain and wonderful. Loved the lemon-ricotta pancakes. They didn’t need syrup but not real sweet. Just right for my taste.
1 out 3 liked their Bloody Mary. My mimosa was great!!!
Very glad we went for the first time and will go back.
Excellent service, location and menu selections. They are really dialed in for small to mid size groups. I can't say enough about how good the service was. Hats off to the chef also. We loved it all.
Celebrated 30th wedding anniversary with friends and family. The food was all very good except the chicken dish that two of us ordered, which was rubbery and tough. Service good, desserts and drinks delicious.
The menu did not match the menu posted online and was quite a bit smaller menu fewer choices than what was posted that was our only disappointment
We had a large group of 8 needing a reservation on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant was able to accommodate our large group, as well as another large group celebrating an upcoming wedding. At first, we were surprised and a little concerned that the menu in the restaurant was significantly smaller than what we viewed online. However, there were still fish, poultry, and steak options for the main course, as well as a variety of starter items that could also serve as a small meal. We were all extremely pleased with our dishes and the service was very good. Would definitely recommend and return when in Manhattan again.
very relaxed restaurant, food was very good, and our server was very pleasant.
make sure to check with the restaurant, the open table menu is not what they had. they change the menu regularly.
We are so thankful for this amazing restaurant in Manhattan! The food is superb, the drinks are fantastic, and the service is top notch. It's perfect for a date night, but at the last minute, we lost our babysitter and they were so accommodating to our little one who joined us. Thank you to Five for your dedication to great food and drinks!
Great bar, wonderful food.
This is a fantastic restaurant with wonderful service and ambience. The management and staff go out of their way to make sure that your experience is memorable. Perfect for a special dinner or happy hour with a group of friends.
