    The minute steak i ordered was over salted and extremely tough. It came out cold. The waiter was not attentive and did not collect our dishes after finish until we left to pay bill. I still tipped but should train better before waitressing.

    You can’t beat the Townie for excellently executed, generous serves of elevated pub fare.

    Hi Sam, I am sorry that you had a less than desirable experience and I apologise that you felt we were not accommodating, however as you did book an outdoor table as we were fully booked inside, we were unable to offer an alternative at the time. We have taken your feedback onboard and have removed outdoor dining as an online booking option over winter. Thanks, FTHH Management

    This venue has brought the excitement and fun of an Aussie country pub to the inner city. We celebrated a birthday here after reading all the good reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. The styling created a cozy ambience. The open fire and decor also added to the atmosphere. On the night we attended, there was a meat raffle to raise money for charity. The staff created excitement as they paraded through with the prize, ringing a small bell. All staff were enthusiastic and helpful. This venue was not just serving food; it was creating an experience which we will recommend to all. We can't wait to return on "steak night" or "schnitzel night". So, if you are looking for 'Aussie spirit', I am quite sure you will find it here!

    We went for the last hour of Happy Hour and our Dinner was booked for 6pm. Steak night on Wednesday’s @ $25 was fabulous as well as the Kingfish for entree @ $25. Becky who served us was fabulous - we will be back. Sarah & Sean Bourke

    Fantastic steaks and entrées for a Wednesday steak night. Great ambiance and the dining room was warm, inviting and buzzing with chatter, laughter and all-round bonhomie. Staff were excellent- friendly, attentive, helpful and fast.

    I'm pretty sure that we'd been to the Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel years ago and loved it, and I just happened to see it pop up on someone's social media recently and thought we'd visit. We eat out a lot and we were so impressed with the food, service and cosy vibe. The bread starter was beautiful and hit the spot right off the bat with the accompaniment of that delicious butter. The burger was the best that my husband and I have ever tried and the mushroom gnocchetti was perfect, aside from it lacking a little salt, which is a very minute detail (it was so delicious that I didn't stop to ask for salt). The elderflower spritz was well made and refreshing and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the apple and rhubarb crumble special. You could tell how high quality and fresh the ingredients were and that the chefs knew exactly what they were doing. Please also pass our compliments on to them, along with the friendly wait staff, and we look forward to visiting again soon.

    Amazing Sunday roast, most delicious thing ever. Lamb with lentils, French green beans, spinach and mashed potatoes plus Madeira sauce. We will return for sure. A steal at 25 bucks
