The vibe here lovely, cool music, lovely setting, they've really followed through on their concepts. Unfortunately, the choice of food really disappointing and execution not as fab as it should have been. There's a limited menu, so making sure everything was available should have been a no-brainer. Instead, the choice was limited to three mains - two fish and a disappointing over salted chard and pasta number. We still enjoyed ourselves, the staff were lovely, wine delicious and ambiance good but food in the should do better category. Would give you guys another chance but please offer more food choice and better execution
Excellent service/surrounding/food....but £5 for 4 new potatoes?.
Side orders and coffees are not on menu ...therefore no prices either.
£3 plus £1 for a flat white?.
Menus should really be transparent...otherwise it seems like you're duping honest customers.
Overall my first comment stands regarding service etc.
Wonderful evening - book early! Go on, do yourself a favour and order the lobster - truly sublime!
Food was very flavorful, but big problem as no options for vegans and no willingness to create solutions from chef.
We had a nice time - the food quality and ambience were great but it can't be ignored that the portions are very, very small, especially for the price you are paying. We found ourselves almost trying to eat slowly as to not be finished too quickly, which is a shame. We are all for quality over quantity but our mains really did feel like the starter portions you would get in most other high end restaurants. £13 for 3 small fried fish goujons and a small bit of mayo just feels too much and does leave you feeling short changed. The pasta dish for main was £20 but served on a flat small plate, my father actually slammed his fork into the plate by accident as he just assumed it must be a bowl with more underneath! The real shame is that it's a great restaurant and great concept but we feel they will start to lose custom and recommendations if they do continue to ignore the portion size comments that can be seen by many.
Outstanding food and service. We took our 3 year old, and whilst we made it work, it isn’t ideal for the majority of children - not a criticism at all but be aware that there’s no children’s menu or flexibility in the menu whatsoever (I took my pregnant wife and the chef wouldn’t cook the duck longer for her or do a half size portion of pasta for the child)… Food is outstanding and the service even better but be aware that the lack of flexibility from the chef might be a limiting factor for some!
The food was excellent, the wine we had really let the experience down it was a Green Field white - cloudy and effervescent it was disappointing to say the least - the waitress said it was a bold choice and it would open up well - it didn’t!! We should have said something but didn’t - the food was really good and we were having a lovely evening and didn’t want to spoil things
The best place we ate in Fowey by far! Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere and great cooking.
The fish featured heavily on the menu this evening but as we love fish it was not a problem, cooked perfectly and full of flavour.
Service was excellent, friendly and informative.
We had 90 mins for our meal which didn’t really give us time for desert so we plumped for coffee instead.
Didn’t disappoint. Excellently prepared locally sourced dishes. Friendly engaging staff.
Amazing food! The brown crab chilli starter was a high point. But everything was delicious.
Amazing food. Had a fab time at the counter table (which initially made me wary), as we could see the food being cooked, and changed my mind on what I’d usually have ordered. Service was lovely. All staff very friendly and relaxed. Drinks menu was slightly on the vague/confusing side. However went for darkest red, which was marvellous
Booked the 4th August, waited outside in the cold for table, table in upstairs anti room, no atmosphere, food tasty but portion size very small. All in all very disappointing.
Great restaurant with lovely staff and service. Food was excellent and the selection of natural and bio dynamic wines was also great.
We had been recommended to Fitzroy but were very disappointed. We’re used to paying London prices coming from London that this was very expensive and not worth it. Limited menu. Clam starter consisted of six clams per portion making them £2 each! The monkfish was dry and overcooked, the Pollock was undercooked and slimy and teamed with grated carrot soaked in Pernod. A very strange combination which did not go together at all.The best bits were the deserts and the attentive Scottish waitress. Came in at £75 ahead and really wasn’t worth that.
Excellent food - high quality produce beautifully cooked.
Friendly team, great service and a vibrant atmosphere.
Lovely food in a lovely location
Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere. If you visit Fowey and you don't come to Fitzroy's you've missed a trick.
High class food in a very casual setting. Service and staff are excellent
We drove 1.5 hours to eat at Fitzroy and it didn’t disappoint.
Exceptional food, friendly staff and all round great ambiance.
We sat at the counter where we could see the chefs preparing our food, all of whom where happy to chat to us and give us recommendations.
Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.
Fabulous food and excellent service very friendly staff.
Great service helpful and friendly
Very tast innovative food the lobster was excellent
Food was lovely, service was excellent. Is a tad on the pricey side but still a great experience
What a wonderful evening, our first and most certainly not our last. Our daughter picked Fitzroy for her 21st and it was perfect, food, ambience, service. Couldn't fault it.
We enjoyed the food and the service was good but the beans with the chicken were undercooked and the main course prices were high particularly as potatoes were extra as was the green salad. Pasta dish was tasty but overpriced.Would you recommend Fitzroy to a friend yes or no option
We travelled a hour to eat here on recommendation. For sure not disappointed. The quality of the fresh food was outstanding. The staff make you so welcome. The only downside was we were driving so could not sample your superb range of wines. Highly recommended. Thank you very much for your hospitality. You made our evening.
Gorgeous food - they really pack the flavour in. Highly recommend.
Outstanding meal. So much care taken to select the very best ingredients and let them sing. Great service too.
One of the most wonderful meals I have had for a very long time. Very skilful cooking using seasonal and local ingredients. Highly recommend.
This restaurant is in a great location, centre of Fowey, the seating is a blend of eco/rustic, the chair a little too small to hang my jacket over, when requiring what gins they have we were told by the waitress this is not a cocktail bar, there’s your 12.5% service charge, house G&T served in a wine glass but their price dose not reflect this! Our starters, small portions crab was more sauce than crab meat with very little taste, the monk fish starter tasted much better but far too small consisting of three very small pieces. Our mains at £29 each, the lobster was served, only half with three very small potatoes, the Brill was served with alioli, when requiring about sides were told the lobster had enough potatoes to share, the side salad was a plate of salad leaves. Did not stray for desserts, £115 bill, will not return or recommend!
Food was absolutely outstanding. Whole experience was first class. Will definitely return.
Absolutely delicious food
They really know how to do seafood - highlights were fried monkfish, raw mackerel, sardines and brill head. A lot of locally grown and wonderfully fresh vegetables and the desserts were amazing.
We went twice in a week and ate so well both times.
Fabulous food and really interesting wine list. Great staff.
Totally extraordinary food, amazing service and relaxing atmosphere. Such a treat
When even the bread & butter is delightful you know you are on to a winner. Laid back ambiance and chefs that use incredible ingredients with such skill that you can taste their passion for produce. This is not the biggest menu but every dish sings with flavour. Thank you Guys! Nice one!
From start to finish the service was great . The lobster was delicious and the house wine was excellent .
Knowledgeable staff . A great last night meal with friends .
Super duper delicious! Can't wait to be able to come back
Really amazing food and flavours- the staff were also very friendly and made excellent recommendations for wine. A really lovely dining experience for all of our family.
Wonderful food and super friendly service. All round a great meal - thanks to all the staff.
Excellent food and very good atmosphere would definitely come back, not a great selection on the menu but I eat most things so wasn’t deterred
