Really delicious food but limited menu. We sat outside and it was a nice ambience with lights and appropriate social distance. The street was quiet for a Friday night. Really pleasant experience and good service!

Terrible. Now I know why they charge $25 per person if you cancel because if I had asked anyone who had been there, they would have warned us. Drinks were tiny and overpriced and wine was gross. Cheese plate was laughable. 3 hunks of mediocre cheese with a bowl of bread chunks. No fruit, nuts or any accompaniments a standard cheese plate would have. We asked for 2 burgers and fries cooked medium. The server (if you can call her that) said that they cook all burgers at the same temp but it would still be pink. There was ZERO pink and ZERO taste. My friend did not get the fries with her burger and my husband did not get the green salad he ordered with his pork. Fries came out later and they charged her for a full portion and the salad came out as my husband's dessert since he had finished his meal by then. The rigatoni looked and tasted like they had scraped all the leftovers off of previous diners' plates and reheated with a teaspoon of sausage added. No comps, no apologies but with the 20% service charge already included, the server doesn't really have any reason to care. Never again.

Hungry Pigeon was great. Service was kind and incredibly sweet. Food and wine was pretty good. Everything was just a tad expensive. But the ambiance more than made up for it.

Consistently just what you need

I wish the menu had more choices, but the food we did order was very tasty. If they continue to update the small menu with new choices, I will be sure to return!

First time to this charming restaurant and we were so glad we chose to go! The watermelon salad and veggie ratatouille were so original, wonderfully flavorful and visual art! The staff were so helpful and friendly. Felt I’d known them for some time when we left. I so recommend you go!

Excellent food although the menu is very limited, maybe just because of Covid-19. Nice enough setup for outdoor seating on the side street.

Even with a somewhat limited menu during the time of COVID, Hungry Pigeon never disappoints. Excellent outside seating situation.

I had been to Hungry Pigeon a few times in the past, and the food was outstanding. But on this occasion, the best plate we ordered was a cheese plate (so something not prepared by the restaurant itself), most of things were just mediocre (literally, I was looking for flavor in everything), and the worst dish was the tuna tartare that was inedible for me (my fellow diners ate it, but were wondering if they’d get sick from it). This was extremely disappointing.

We enjoyed most of what we got but the swordfish dish. When we complained to waiter that fish was very fishy tasting his answer to us was” well it’s fish that’s why it’s fishy” . He took it away an we assumed we wouldn’t be charged for it . Not only were we charged but they packed it up in a brown paper bag to take home . Why would we want that??? Anyway spoke to manager and she said same thing “ it’s fish that’s why it’s fishy” . In our experience with fish if it’s fishy it’s frozen and not great quality . Manager did wind up taking charge off bill but so disappointed that they handled the matter the way they did . Probably won’t go back too many better restaurants in Philly that treat their customers better

The food was superb- each dish was flavorful but not overwhelming, with subtle flavors and varying textures throughout. We loved the communal table and overall ambience.

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, always attentive, never rushed. Pre-Ordered the Lasagna, absolutely fantastic! Finished the night with a slice of the $100 chocolate cake and a glass of milk! Highly recommend!

The service was terrible. Everything came out all disjointed and when it arrived at the table, the servers came to the table and just yelled out the order like an auction. Broccoli rabe was super bitter. The pasta was dry. None of the starters were very good except the mushrooms were awesome, and the cheese plate was great. We tried almost everything on the menu. It was loud, drinks took forever. We were there for a special occasion and regretted the choice.

I would recommend this restaurant as it was beautiful inside and the service was professional. It was however quite expensive for what we received and I was underwhelmed by the dishes.

Having heard great things about the Hungry Pidgeon over the years, I was expecting much more from this neighborhood restaurant. While the menu was interesting, I found the food over salted and over sauced. Also, while the concept is a simple down home eatery , having a $10 glass of wine served in worn juice glass was a turn off.

Good food, experience would have been better with a private table.

loved it and never had such great mashed potatoes. Ya got to love the little things. Seriously everything we tried was well seasoned and wonderful.

Locally sourced food, no further than 1 1/2 hours from Philly, that is prepared creatively and is delicious! A must go to restaurant for comfort cooking and a relaxing, great night out!

We ordered several different items from the menu and honestly, nothing blew me away, especially at the menu price point. The server was also incredibly awkward. Initially, all over us to order and then would disappear for long periods of time. We had to flag her down to ask for our second course. For the money, I'll go somewhere else.

the restaurant was cute, the service was good. but all 6 of the dishes missed the mark. too salty, undecooked, bland. etc. there was nothing myself or my husband ate that we would want to have again.

Wonderful meal! I was a little nervous reading some of the reviews but very happy I went to check it out for myself. The food was amazing! I would have given 5 stars but the dessert was so so but everything else was outstanding!

Overrated. Not a lot of food choices, poor cocktail selection.

The menu was somewhat short but the wait staff was eager to walk us through it and help us choose a meal that was well-rounded and complimentary.
The bread was, as to be expected, excellent. The sourdough tartan was wonderfully tangy and the focaccia light and airy. I could have used a little more crunch on the focaccia, but I'm not complaining.
The brussel sprouts were incredible and intense. Plenty of char complimented the sweet sprouts. The sauce was tangy and filled with umami from the colatura and pine nuts. The gnocci were rich and balanced. And the chicken was perfectly cooked. The sauce was rich and well balanced and filled with a variety of mushrooms. The choice of oyster mushrooms was a bit off-putting and flooded your mouth with moisture when you bit into them, but that was my biggest criticism.
The menu changes frequently and is sure to keep you coming back. The wait staff is eager to help you find a meal that suits you palate. Highly recommended.

Second visit was disappointing. Some things (brussels sprouts) were outstanding, some things not so much ($30 half chicken was way overcooked). Service was good, good vibe. Warning: wine and cocktails are served in tiny vessels. Beers are normal sized. Get the Tired Hands IPA. I probably won't be back. I think , for dinner, it is a bit overrated.

We had heard really great things about HP before arriving, and the restaurant did not disappoint! Do not be fooled by the seemingly simple menu. From the small plates through the entrees, everything was delicious and insanely flavorful. I am not a vegetarian, but I highly recommend the grilled eggplant entree.

Overall, it was a great experience. Bartenders, servers, and hosts were all attentive. Will definitely be back!

The food is outstanding. Menu rotates, but everything is excellent. Would recommend a few small plates and a main to share - but the price does add up.

Service was fantastic and friendly.

The food is thoughtful and unique at Hungry Pigeon, so I will always be interested in what these guys are going to do next, but we knew what we wanted and our server talked us into getting more than we needed. This just made me feel suddenly that it wasn't about the food, it was about filling quota.

$60 for the whole fried chicken sounds like a lot, but it easily fed 2 couples so at $15/person it is not a bad deal.

Love Hungry Pigeon and dinner there often. Had the chicken and found it to salty. My dinner companion order two appetizers as her main course and I ordered the chicken and brussel sprout. The waiter never asked if the appetizers would be the main meal. After waiting 20 minutes for my chicken dish, I asked the waiter when I could expect it. She told me she had’t put in the order. Not the food or service I am use to at Hungry Pigeon.

Not a happy camper. Food was extremely salty. You could feel the salt on the the food and I was drinking water all night.

They charge for the bread which was not that great.

Really good food at a reasonable price. My wife and I had a date night and we knew things were good because we got a parking spot less than a block from the restaurant. Well things got better from there. The cocktail and wine were delicious. The starter was tasty, but did not compare to the flavors in our entrees. The Jersey bouillabaisse was savory and the Guinea Hen is a juicy flavor bomb that was brought out by a chef owner. He seemed a little grumpy but that only added to the experience! Dessert was great. The best part was the leftovers the next day. We will be back. Superb.
