Very fresh oysters. Delicious grilled lobster. Very attentive service. And all reasonably priced, especially for Mayfair
Very nice. Been there many times. Food delicious but getting expensive. Nice friendly staff
Usually a big fan but the service was so mixed. Basic errors in the kitchen like cold fish lightly seared
Always reliable. Friendly ,helpful staff and the food is of the highest quality. We have never been disappointed.
Everything was just great.
I chose mussels to start and they were small, so tender and sweet.
My main course of Dover Sole and it cooked to perfection
Thoroughly enjoyable meal with lovely staff - would definitely return!
We used to go to this place for many years, but laser experience was very dissapointing., especially main dishes, all of them!
It was my first time here.. brought my sister and brother-in-law over for a holiday.
Whole sea bass, apparently sensational, filleted sea bass apparently sensational, the hake special good but very firm and I had battered cod and chips with the best mushy peas I've tasted in a restaurant.. the starters were all good.. a good value restaurant plus 2 bottles of wine and several glasses of sparkling wine, oh and a coffee or two all at around ££75 a head.. pretty good for West end prices..
The food here is consistently good and I love the bouillabaisse. I ordered “blinis with smoked salmon and caviar” as a starter from the Specials menu and was surprised to be presented with a single measly blini with not much caviar, looking very lonely in the middle of the plate! My exclamation of “only one” was greeted with the retort that caviar is expensive. Once I showed that the menu described “blinis” in the plural it was claimed that there was a mistake with the menu, but they did eventually agree to bring me one more. Could do better.
The lobster was amazing, the ambiance great and wine was the right choice. I will come again.
Service was good, wine lovely. Fish stew a real disappointment, little flavour and little fish! Scallops unimaginative and turbot dull. Sorry!
Stale squid rings, clearly double fried to make them warm again/look ‘fresh’ - never again. There are plenty of far better seafood places, don’t waste your money there. Poor service, special request completely ignored.
We experienced an enjoyable meal in the Fishworks. Very good value for London, two persons for just shy of 170.00 for a fish tasting 3 tier stacked platter and a buttered lobster with drinks.
Our only gripes was the guy serving our table lacked enthusiasm, lobster was on the overcooked side and the oysters were not shucked correctly. Truly great seafood does not seem to exist in the UK, venture to Brittany for an authentic Fruit de Mer experience.
The restaurant is conveniently located and handsomely designed.
The first course (the mixed, fried dish) was overly salty. the fish and chips were good. However the cauliflower puree served with the hake was cold and the hake was insufficiently cooked through.
The service was efficient and pleasant.
If you like fish, seafood and dining out then you’ll absolutely love Fishworks even the wine here is always excellent.
Have also been to the one in Covent Garden and would say the same as for Swallow St.
As usual, the range of really fresh fish is excellent. Pleased to see that Service on this occasion was also back up to standard, in particular the waiters were on it - pleasant, available when required and without being too intrusive. Back in our good books!
Always love dining at fish works. It’s a family must when we are in London. Lovely food great service. We will definitely be back soon.
The service charge when the bill came gave me a bit of a shock. It made a meal for one pretty expensive.
However I enjoyed the meal before the bill!
The fish was excellent but the new potatoes side dish was over priced and some were under cooked. The service was good. I think it was over priced It.
Special restaurant for fish lovers
Truly delightful pre theatre dinner, if you're a seafood lover don't miss this place!
Excellent all round, although it was made better with a Fishworks promotional 40% off food voucher
As always the food was excellent and service attentive without being overbearing.
Special value with 40% off Menu greatly appreciated
Great service and excellent food and wine
Splendid location and superb fish for London. Nothing is off limits as far as the menu goes! Dr JRH
I booked this restaurant but ended up not being able to go but my friends did and they both became unwell afterwards. They have now called the restaurant to alert them. I will follow up on this review with what happened next and how they were treated.
The food was ok but I was was disappointed that my fish was burnt! The explanation was that this was due to the chicory seemed to be an excuse as no other meals were overlooked.
A nice meal with good service. My only complaint was that the set menu option that appears on the open table listing was not available we were told after 6pm which had been the motivation to try the restaurant for the first time. This is not at all clear in the listing. As a consequence the meal was more expensive than anticipated
This is a firm favourite for an early evening supper!
Excellent food but my husband was hugely disappointed as they had no oysters and no lobster left! Great value with an offer from Fishworks as I am on their mailing list.
Food is good but the service was absolutely bad. They automatically add the service charge for a service that they do not give? To me if the service does not complement the food, I would go somewhere else. London has plenty of choices.
Great, fresh seafood and reasonable price. Service was slow even for a “fine” dining restaurant...
Fresh fish was well prepared and served very promptly. Selected the fish and chips tried the monk-fish version. Large robust meat, on top of small portion of tasty chips. Sauvignon Blanc white wine from France (not as fruity as US) to accompany the fish.
This was a regular visit with a cousin who loves the Devon crab and is never less than delighted and her husband always describes the fish and chips as the best.
The service was excellent and the food was just as good.
They are also offering a very good looking set lunch so I may sneak back for a solo visit.
Fishworks in Swallow Street serves excellent and very fresh seafood. We shared the seafood platter between the 2 of us - this was great with a combination of cold and hot selections, and really enjoyed the dish. Each tier of seafood came with their different sauces which worked very well with the food. Very good value with the January discount. The restaurant was very busy but our food arrived in good time.
Fish dishes very good indeed.
Desserts, except for the lemon sorbet, not so good. Way too much gelatine in the panna cotta, tropical Eton mess too sweet, chocolate sticky pud too sweet and decidedly stodgy.
Food and wine were of a high standard. Service, as always at Fishworks, was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a 40% discount on the a la carte menu which made our lunch excellent value. Our table was, at our request, in the quieter side of the restaurant which meant that the noise level was acceptable.
Convenient for the theatre but otherwise acceptable. Cheerful staff
Been going here for many years but on this occasion the experience was not good. Food was lukewarm, service was lackluster, maybe because the staff appeared to be inexperienced.
A good restaurant with great service and food. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant
Booking process was smooth. Well greeted. Attentive service. Great quality ingredients cooked well. Prawns and tuna for starters. Lobster, linguine and tuna for mains. Good quality house wine. Always on the list for when we visit London. Highly recommended.
