Fishwife's Clam Chowder
Home made with cream, potatoes, onions, clams garnished with our salsa fresca
Disappointing. The seafood dishes were ok but far from amazing, but the steak was really bad. Overpriced.
Service was good and food was good!
Our last visit before we move to the east coast was a bittersweet pleasure. We sat by the window, were served graciously yummy food, good wine and creme Brule for dessert. Our go to place for special occasions never disappoints!
The service was outstanding. Everyone was so very nice, thoughtful, and interested in who we were. They were truly lovely. The fresh oysters were outstanding. We both had sole piccata so we didn't experience a wide range of food. It was good, pleasant, but not outstanding. It's a cute place and I would definitely go again.
My husband and I went here dinner for his birthday! I am not a fish person, so I had the chicken piccata and it was very good. My husband had the portofino and loved it. Our server Tony took great care of us which made for an even better experience for us! I would definitely go back! It’s a relatively small place for eating indoors, so make reservations ahead of time!
Delicious fresh fish and house made pasta. Excellent service.
We have been to your restaurants many times but not for many years. Short walk from Asilomar, table was ready for us. Server was perfect; margarita was wonderful. We appreciated that the calimari was grilled not fried. Green lipped mussels weee outstanding with a fabulous sauce. I had Baramundi which was multi layered and excellent; my wife had the sole which was so fresh. Key lime pie was perfect. Wonderful dining as good as we remembered. Can’t wait to return
A bit disappointed in the quality of food here. The pasta noodles fine and some of our group had good fish but the pasta additions were lacking in quality. The service was slow, but it was busy. The waiter had a hard time hearing our orders and one entree was incorrect but after the long wait for food we let it go. Really good calamari starter. Good drink options.
Great place to eat good food and Richard is a great bartender. The only problem was the service. Took us an hour and a half to get our food. Place was packed ill admit but
it is still a long time for a simple meal.
Great local place, awesome food. Friendly staff & Richie is the best bartender in Monterey/ Pacific Grove.
Excellent barramundi!! Colorful, hot and delicious!
The fish was rubbery with no flavors at all. We went here based on previous reviews but did not enjoy anything.
My Husband and I have been going to the Fishwife for over 20 years the food is very good the service is very good and it is right down the street from the beach.
We really enjoyed our meal at Fish Wife. The two waiters taking care of us were excellent and attentive and made the evening even better than we had expected it would be!
The food came out super fast. Our entire meal with appetizer was 40 mins. Ordered the mahi fish bowl. Bland, no seasoning on the mahi, the black beans were cold. The veggies were barely cooked and no seasoning as well. I left hungry
Great local and affordable seafood restaurant in Pacific Grove
Food was delicious!! So much flavor. Staff was so nice.
Mahi mahi bowl is excellent!
Absolutely outstanding food!!!
We ordered fish and it was just ok I think we should have tried the Caribbean items
Enjoyed our evening dinner very much, great service, great food.
Excellent excellent EXCELLENT food!!! There wasn't even time to take a picture of it. Drinks were great as well, generous pours. Loved the seaside, Caribbean vibe and the friendly service.
This is the 3rd time I've eaten here while on a trip to this area. Food has consistently been excellent. Will be back again.
The best calamari steak in the world, and at a very reasonable price!
Average all around
This was the first time to eat here. Service was the best, especially while other establishments are having staffing issues. There were several different people stopping by the table to see how we were doing. Loved the attention. I had the Cajun sea bass over lobster ravioli, I highly recommend it to anyone. My wife had the Baja bowl and she couldn’t finish it due to the fact it was a large portion. The only knock on the food was the clam chowder, it reminded us of a gravy. Not the best we have had in Monterey. But over all our first experience was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Always a favorite when visiting Monterey. Outstanding clam chowder, tostaditas, lobster ravioli with a Cajun seabass, and of course the key lime pie. We’ve been coming here for years and it’s always consistently outstanding. It’s an old building but we come here more for the food and not the atmosphere.
The food was great, the service was below average. I would eat there again.
Very welcoming and friendly. We had the Asian Ginger Salad and 1 Barramundi Dinner plus 1 Lemon Caper Sole Dinner All were delicious and the presentation was very colorful and appealing. Highly recommend.
Consistently great service and delicious food! One of my favorites. I recommend it to everyone.
It was apparent this is a favorite of locals. Service was excellent. The chef really knew how to prepare the fish, not overcooked and the wine and cream sauce was delicious. I quizzed the boss, most of the staff have been there 15-20 years. I think that speaks volumes! Definitely a good find.
Menu selection combined with quality of preparation makes Fishwife a go-to place. Like the fact that we fit right into the front door with the locals - just far enough away from the tourist side of Monterey, that it retains a full house of locals. Worth using the GPS...
Fresh fish was very good and we appreciated the recognition of our anniversary. We will return again and recommend this place to anyone wanting good value for fresh fish meal.
This is a neighborhood type place, very unfancy. Service was attentive. Food was good, hearty. But not fine dining.
The restaurant is very simple, the food quite enjoyable. Very fresh and original. Always enjoy coming here when in PG
Hawaiian bowl and seafood alfredo were both good. Service was good.
Of all the places to choose from, we chose Fishwife-and weren't disappointed. Their take on seafood pasta was imaginative and delicious. Parking was a little problematic, but not worth missing a unique meal over.
This is a favorite of ours for over 20 years. The food is always fresh and I like the diverse menu and atmosphere. You can't go wrong and the prices are very reasonable!
Great time ., very friendly
