We don't use the term "destination restaurant" lightly. But the seafood at Manhattan Beach's Fishing With Dynamite more than fits the bill.
Great food! My boyfriend and I recently moved to WeHo and we miss all of our favorite restaurants in the South Bay - Fishing With Dynamite being one of them. We recently took a trip back to celebrate our anniversary and eat our way thru the city. We love the oysters, fries and cocktails. The restaurant knew we were celebrating our anniversary and gave us a free yummy dessert. Definitely will take another day trip to the South Bay to eat here again.
The staff here is absolutely great! Love them! The food is spectacular! Wine selection superb! Too bad it is so popular! Hard to get a table - but maybe a good thing r we would be here every weekend! Love you all!
Always such a great experience. Great service and lovely hostesses. Thanks for making my dining experience wonderful. Octopus is amazing...it’s what I go back for every time. Thanks FWD !
My wife and I have been coming for 4 years. One of the best restaurants in LA. Love the food, love the music and ambiance, love the service and staff.
Yummmmmm... with "dynamite". We ate here on a Saturday morning for early brunch. Friday Night was booked, but since the restaurant was recommended by a friend, we decided to at least try breakfast. The food was delicious especially the Hamachi and the Grilled Octopus also. I am already planning to eat there the next time I am in Manhattan Beach. The waitress was a delight. Also, my bf had the Old Fashion which was well made.
Best oysters we’ve ever had!
It was my birthday and in addition to their outstanding food and service, they went out of their way to insure a truly enjoyable special occasion. Couldn’t have asked for anything more!
FwD is absolutely Awesome!👍 Great food and atmosphere!
Always a great experience! Never disappointed! Service, food and ambiance superb! Great place for a date or special occasion!
Tacos tortillas are too classic. There a lot of developments in tortillas that taste a lot better. Clam chowder could use a few more scallops. It was all still very good, couldn’t help but critique. Thank you for lunch
We had the fabulous fried chicken sandwich with homemade chips. The killer was dessert- the pretzel bread pudding with salted Carmel sauce that was so good- not just drizzled either but a pool of sauce and amazing mascarpone ice cream. One of the top desserts I’ve ever had!!! You have ocean views sitting on one side of the restaurant and service is so friendly. It is my fave restaurant. I always leave happy!
Very nice and cozy restaurant, great food and super nice service. Overall great experience. Really recommend this establishment. Will be back!
Fishing with Dynamite is my favorite spot to celebrate with a small group (2-6 at most). Although it's pricey, it is so worth it! Most plates are fairly small but all are delicious. Would definitely recommend the hamachi dish! Very small restaurant and very bright and beautiful in the daytime with fun artwork and great staff.
Charming little spot with one of the best raw bars I've ever had the pleasure of eating! The oysters and Peruvian scallops were INSANE. I don't like desserts and the Key Lime Pie changed my mind. Will be back!
Went early @ 5/30p for my wife’s birthday, very popular for special occasions, another couple there for 10th wedding anniversary. Started with mixed selection of half dozen oysters with fresh horseradish +cocktail sauce, excellent! Then according to my wife the best clam chowder ever, creamy with new potatoes, clams, & bacon. We shared entrees, seared Scottish salmon w/crispy skin and a no cheese risotto type dish which were both great. For dessert we had the Mississippi Mud Pie with a nice candle! Only issue is tables are very close together but overall great experience & highly recommended
This restaurant never has a bad dish. Food is always excellent as is the service. Depending on where you sit, the music can sometimes bet a bit loud which can be a little annoying if you're trying to have a conversation.
But the food and service and general ambiance is ALWAYS worth the trip and we return time and again. This trip the Whole Filet of Sole was cooked to perfection and delicious. Brought first time guests and they loved the food, if not the volume of the music. In all fairness we were seated under the speaker on the bar side and one of my guests was older.
Special Occasion! Our once a year Soirée from our home on Oahu, Hawaii. This is our fifth time. Super fun atmosphere with a staff that can describe every aspect of your dish and suggest a wine to marry it perfectly. All fish and crustaceans are impeccable and pristine. The quintessential seafood restaurant.
Great food and service but seating is a little tight.
I can't say enough about this little gem of a restaurant. So much so that selfishly, I don't want to share my review so I can keep this place all to myself when visiting LA. The service at FWD is spot on, as are the waitstaff's recommendations. Every recommendation hit my tastebuds perfectly. If you love fresh seafood, I highly recommend the Peruvian scallops as an appetizer. As an entre, I had the Koshihikari rice which I couldn't get enough of. For me, my visit to FWD was the perfect dining experience. From the fun restaurant name, to the clever cocktails, to the flavorful foods, to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, there's nothing about this restaurant I don't love.
Great place. Great people. Great food. Real fun!
Small space, music level too high as there is nothing on the walls to absorb the sound... makes it hard to have conversations. Tables are very tight as well. That aside, the food is excellent!
Chef Min came out to talk to us about his food. His salmon dish was incredible!
We will definitely be back. Wonderful staff. It was nice to have an early Saturday brunch seating.
Small table. Very intimate.
Great food and service. Good balance
For raw food eaters and cooked food eaters. The server was fantastic and took lots of time to explain the dishes. I highly recommend this place!
Great place for seafood. The drinks (beer and cocktails) are expensive. Really nice service with a smile. The parking in that area of Manhattan can be a bit of a problem. Menu items range from very expensive to reasonable depending on what you order. The food is high quality.
Awesome service and food.
This is a cozy place with an imaginative seafood menu. The mixed drinks are creative. Our waitress was attentive to a fault. They clean the table and give you fresh dishes between courses. The seating is a little tight--you're very close to the people at the next table, and I wish they'd turn off the music. We had a good variety of dishes that we all shared, mixed drinks and a bottle of wine. We shared a single desert (the Pretzel and Chocolate Bread pudding) and it was both ample and delicious. It all came to $100 a person including tip (party of four).
Get the raw scallops
Oysters on the half shell, crab cakes, and battered cod, all made the perfect lunch. Good luck trying to limit yourself to just one order of the squash rolls. Service was well paced, polished, and professional.
FWD is a fantastic restaurant. Food is awesome and staff is friendly!
This place is phenomonal! It never let's us down and we highly recommend to all.
Found on the food network website. Went with my college son and we loved it!!!!!!
Service and food/ambiance was spot on! Perfect!
Fishing with Dynamite never disappoints. It's one of our favorites for healthy and well prepared food.
Favorite restaurant in Manhattan beach!
Very unusual menu and unusual food. A few of the options were terrific, but several missed the mark, and were unusually expensive. The codfish was one of those misses, the japanese rice dish was another.
Wanted to love it more, but left a bit disappointed.
I make it to LA a few times a year and every time I make it a point to grab a meal here. The seafood, esp the raw bar, is top notch!!
Great food, Great service just a great place. If you dine early ask to be seated along the was so you can enjoy the sunset.
This place always delivers: amazing, fresh seafood with interesting twists, intimate but relaxed atmosphere, great service, & great music. It can be a little pricey ($$ out of $$), but the price is worth it for the quality of food & experience. Have been many times, and plan to continue returning.
Overall a great experience! I will be definitely be coming back!
Overall great experience! The food was outstanding, we shared a few different plates and had no complaints. Tables next to us had massive raw platters that looked incredible- will definitely go back to try. Definitely a more beach casual vibe - I felt overdressed in a dress.
