Fishing With Dynamite Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, ambiance, service.
Primarily fish, very local, very fresh. Much of it is raw but I had the Cod which was cooked and fantastic with a farro, pomegranate base. My husband loved his raw fish (hamachi I think). Octopus was tender and flavorful.
Highlight was the Bread Pudding Dessert. Probably best dessert of the year!
Will be back! Small place so make reservations. We heard about this place while in Hawaii. Made sure to catch it while visiting LA. Heard their sister restaurants, MB Post and Arthur J's are also great
Service was OUTSTANDING. My only complaint was that the music was a little loud. We were also sitting directly under the speaker. Oysters were far and away the best I’ve had in the city.
Don’t know my waitress’s name but she could not have done a better job. Will definitely return next time I’m in town. no question
Food was amazing and service was good. It is a very small restaurant with little space between the tables. If you are looking to have a private conversation, this is not your place. The couple next to us jumped into our conversation (Not a bad thing) but a little weird. But the food was so good that we would definitely come back.
Had the DineLA 3-course lunch this week. Very tasty and fresh, especially the raw seafood platter. Smallish restaurant and popular at lunchtime - was a little noisy but we could hear each other just fine without resort to shouting. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and our server Natalie was outstanding! Would return again to try other menu items.
My family and I enjoyed a very lovely lunch at Fushing with Dynamite. We took advantage of Dine LA. The food was excellent and the seafood was very fresh. We brought are own bottle of champagne and the corkage fee was only $15. Definitely will be returning.
A seafood lover’s diner. Creative fresh delicious seafood dishes. Very small place, music was too loud probably to drown out closeness of table conversations or to make it a lively experience. Ordered SS Minnow (standard fresh raw platter) and Whole New Zealand Snapper(for two, actually for one:lol) dessert key lime pie. Need to go back to try Koshihikari Rice dish and Cioppino.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Every dish was so delicious and looked like a work of art. The service was amazing, as our waiter was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Perhaps my fav part of the evening was the music they were playing. All in all I can’t wait to go back and try more of what they create!
Many trips here, because the raw bar is outstanding. The new octopus preparation is the best ever. However, for the first time at this restaurant I had something that I didn’t really love. We ordered the whole fried snapper, done Thai style. It was 50 bucks for two people. It just wasn’t good. It was overcooked which made the fish mushy as opposed to flaky. The braised vegetables were clunky and hard to combine with the broth and food the way it was served. A rare miss for such a good and consistent place.
Comically I had a very similar dish at the new Pappy’s in San Pedro. It was way better for less than half the price. Who’d a thunk? Also the wine list has gotten a little pricey with too many choices at the top end, not leaving enough reasonable options for variety.
Went past this restaurant several times-saw a small lively place with people enjoying what looked like good food. Finally popped in and a great surprise.
The clam chowder was fantastic. The Po’Boy was excellent. Grilled tacos hit the spot. The service by Levi was outstanding. Going to be one of my go-to spots in Manhattan Beach.
Food was over priced for what was served. Very limited menu. Items advertised on the internet menu were not available. Claim chowder in particular was very disappointing. It was difficult to visit with friends because of volume of "background" music, which added to the noise level of a very small crowded room.
The service is exceptional, the wine selection perfect and the seafood was over the top... the New England clam chowder is not what I was expecting. New England clam chowder needs to be thick with lots of seafood - your spoon should stand up free in the soup. Just saying but everything else was to die food. Highly recommend but expensive.
We had a service issue and the management jumped on it. They were exceedingly attentive and wanted to rectify the problem. The manager insisted on sending us dessert and then compted our entire meal!! They really care and turned it into a positive experience that we will all share with friends.
The food was great - perfectly cooked and fresh. We got the diver scallops and the snapper, both specials. But, we couldn’t relax because it was freezing cold in there! They kept the door open all the time and there was a breeze going through the place. My father was using a napkin as a scarf, so I know they could see we were uncomfortable...
