    We loved the cool vibe and ambiance of the place. We sat upstairs and it was very swanky. We tried several small plates and we loved each and every one of them. The standout dish was the meatballs, they were impeccable and the sauce they were in was delicious. The tiramisu was also excellent and I have to admit our server was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable and very helpful. We will definitely go back and we have already recommended this place to our friends and family.

    Focaccia bread with whipped ricotta spread was excellent. Fusilli pasta was pretty decent. Took a while to receive the main course. Service was very good and waiter apologized for the delay. Sat upstairs, overall not too noisy but could hear the conversations of the diners on either side. Would go back.

    Definitely going back fare and ambience was unmatched. I would take the drive in town just for the drinks here. Not on the menu but their version of a mezcal margarita is one of the best.

    The food was delicious and since we requested and sat at the Antipasto Counter we were able to converse with the two cooks working the antipasto who explained how dishes were made and made suggestions. We both love to cook so we always choose to sit at a counter if given the choice. The chef came to answer our question our Question at one point. Everyone was so accommodating and upbeat. It was 11/16/2023 and our 49th anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

    This place seems some style than substance to me. The food on the menu was not super interesting for the cost (where are the vegetables?), the waiter seemed completely thrown when I asked for a drink recommendation that was not on the menu, and the busser was confused when we asked to keep food (the giant hunk of bread) on the table during our entree instead of clearing it right away. The ambiance is cute, but I've found other comparable places in Pittsburgh that seem to do it better.

    We hadn't been there for a while but that will change. It's simply a terrific dining experience. The small plate options give you many choices to enjoy the wonderful tastes and presentation offered by their chef. The cocktail bar upstairs is equally interesting as a way to get the evening started. Start to finish, this is a top destination for foodies in Pittsburgh.

    We were very excited to try Fish nor Fowl for the first time, on our anniversary, but found it to be quite a let down. The host staff was rude and off putting, which was not a great way to start off the evening. We had the bone marrow risotto, which was flavor full. We then had the chicken parm, which was good, but it is not served with any sides or pasta, so it was essentially just a big piece of chicken with cheese on top. We also had the manicotti, which sounded delicious on the menu, but was dry and bland. Servers were very nice and the restaurant is well decorated. Overall the experience was disappointing and I wish we would have chosen somewhere else to enjoy an overpriced meal.

    Made reservations two weeks in advance. Was made to wait. Then was seated at an empty table closest to the door and the hostess said there was nothing she could do. I don’t think she tried very hard. For the price, I expect more. We won’t be back.

    Our first time in this restaurant. The food and service were exceptional as we expected from a Deschantz restaurant. The ambiance and table spacing was also perfect and because of the green wall, the noise level was excellent even though the restaurant was full. We will go back soon!

    We have been to a bunch of the other Richard Deshantz restaurants, and every time we go, but this was our first time at Fish nor Fowl, and from what our family and friends who have been, we were excited to try it. The food is always outstanding. But the thing that has always stood out to us has been the service. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They take the time to explain everything to you. We are excited to sign up for the black card this year, so we can go to some other spots.

    My husband and I have been here several times, the service has never been as bad as it was this past time. Took at least 15-20 minutes each time we ordered a drink and our server was nonexistent.

    After the bread, the food was poor. Wish I stopped after bread. Olives too garlicky, broccolini was disgusting. Left with a horrible taste in my mouth literally. Chill ambiance though

    Love the ambiance of the place; soft jazz playing in the background. Greeted by warm and friendly hostesses. Food was excellent, we loved everything we order, from the delicious and plentiful steam mussels (the sauce very flavorful), to our main dish, the halibut piccata and we topped it off with their Italian apple torta, mmm, so good. Our server, Sarah Y, was fantastic, she made our dining experience exceptional. We definitely will return.

    Went with my girlfriend for our anniversary and had the most lovely time and meal. The staff is all wonderful, the food is unbelievable, and the dining room is beautiful. Hard recommend.

    Service was impeccable. Well spaced and super friendly. Food is excellent. The whipped ricotta is sinful as is the Napoleon for dessert!! We had a wonderful meal.

    Perfection! Husband and I had a date night and it's now our new favorite spot. We were seated at the antipasto bar which was a cool experience in and of itself. Food was incredible. We tried a little of everything and we couldn't settle on a favorite A huge shoutout to the incredible staff. our waiter,Jesse, was very attentive and helpful! Harrison and Dillion, at the antipasto bar, served up so much fun. The staff made our experience!

    While the food was tasty, the service was incredibly slow, disjointed, and it took away from the experience. An hour and 45 minutes passed before we were able to eat our entrees. By that point, we had lost our appetites from waiting for so long. So we all ended up boxing our meals up and taking them to go. The prices are also high on several items. Focaccia bread with whipped ricotta was $18. With a few tweaks, this could be a good restaurant experience but it’s not there yet

    Cute space and nice vibe. Chairs super uncomfortable and with a white square table base, I would recommend cleaning crumbs/spills before seating guest. Fine dining prices, food is good. The mussels, buratta (small) and tiramisu dessert were yummy. Entrees a little lacking for the price point. Nothing special was done for our anniversary. Overall, I would recommend for small plates and drinks.

    Title: Missed Opportunities and Underwhelming Service at Fish nor Fowl Our recent visit to Fish nor Fowl left much to be desired. From service to ambiance, the experience fell short of the high standards we have come to expect from restaurants managed by the same company. **Service**: After ordering antipasto and martinis, our waitress vanished from sight. We had to flag down another staff member just to get our check. This not only impacted our overall experience but also represented a missed opportunity for upselling. **Ambiance**: The atmosphere was compromised by overly loud music, making it difficult to engage in conversation. For a restaurant aiming to offer a high-end dining experience, this was disappointing. In summary, based on this experience, we have low expectations for any future visits to Fish nor Fowl. The restaurant clearly missed the mark in both service and ambiance, areas that should be straightforward to get right, especially considering the reputation of the management company's other establishments.

    Amazing dinner. The cuisine was exceptional. Starter: Our table loved the whipped ricotta and bread starter. The infused olive oil paired with the ricotta was the perfect balance of richness and brightness. 2nd: The wine reduction risotto with bone marrow was legendary! The flavors were beyond perfect and the presentation was akin to a modern day steak Diane done table side. The richness of the marrow and the sweetness of the wine reduction were perfectly complimented by the parm crunch topping that was applied. Main: This not your grandmas Fussilli (unless she makes it from scratch and is straight off the boat) This was exceptional. The sugo had the right amount of heat and the broccoli rabe brought a bit of perfect bitterness to the dish. The Halibut Piccata was beautiful to look at. Overall the dish was very nice but one section, in particular, was overly salted. Be careful as cartilage was plentiful. I would have preferred a filet of halibut with the preparation but overall very well executed. Our server was knowledgeable, pleasant and had great pride in the restaurant. The restaurant was not particularly busy and at times our service was a bit slow to respond to requests. That said our server did a nice job. Our group highly recommends Fish nor Fowl and will be returning again very soon. PS the new rule banning corkage fees is disappointing as the wine list leaves much to be desired. I hope that this new rule brings with it a more expansive selection and improved quality. Also the QR code only pulls up 2 drinks so you had to ask for the large, oversized menu before ordering each drink. This proved uncomfortable in a small table setting near other groups.

    My review won't be any different from other reviews which reflects how good the food here is. The whipped ricotta was amazing with the focaccia. I do wish we hadn't filled up on bread but it was that good. The "small plate" of mussels was actually quite enormous and paired with the mafaldine, we had enough food for two and weren't physically able to fit dessert in. The sauce paired with the mussels was perfect and great for dipping with the garlic bread. The mafaldine was very good with large chunks of crab scattered throughout, the maiitake texture complemented the dish as did the crispy pan frito. There was something a bit different or unexpected about the texture of pasta noodles in this dish that I can't quite put my finger on but I would have expected a springier/chewier texture. Still very good nonetheless

    My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner at Fish Nor Fowl! The whipped ricotta and bread was such a great way to start the meal, and the broccolini was very flavorful. The Amatriciana and Manicotti with butternut squash and sage were both really different but equally delicious pastas. Nothing better than homemade noodles! Our cocktails were also really tasty and the service was attentive and friendly. Great dining experience!
