Fish nor Fowl
Truly, everything I ate from all categories exceeded my exceptions. And, the variety of offerings are so unique. The service was impeccable, so, so kind and efficient.
If you try this restaurant, you will be writing a 5 star review too.
Loved it all. Gorgeous food. Gorgeous ambiance. Fabulous staff! Wonderful all around!
Best hidden gem in Pittsburgh right now.
Food and service was excellent. The music was a bit too loud. I never can understand why higher end restaurants feel the need to blast music as if it’s a bar rather than a restaurant. It’s not a relaxing dinner when we have to raise our voices in order to have a conversation. That said, we will be back.
The hostess and the waitress looked very “mad”. The waitress sounded very judgmental when taking our order. Attitudes are a huge part in the hospitality industry and our experience here was extremely low.
We sat on the second floor and it was relatively quiet but the environment on the first floor was more open and lively. The ceiling on the second floor was also lower than normal and it gives you a depressing feeling.
The food in general was alright. Was disappointed with the foie gras and steak. I highly recommend their caviar and halibut collar. Otherwise there wasn’t anything that really amazed us.
The interior decorations had a theme but lowkey inconsistent. It feels like the designer couldn’t decide what he or she wants or there was a lot of conflicts and arguments between the designer and owner so they reached a suboptimal choice lol. The pillows are actually spikey, so it hurts your skin on the back.
Had high expectations but was really disappointed.
Outstanding meal with a spectacular service team.
Food & service is terrific.
Fois gois was absolutely delicious fresh and tasty. Linguini with truffles was wonderful.
Our waitstaff, Crystal was outstanding.
This restaurant is excellent every time. Have never had a bad experience.
Waiter was friendly, knowlegable, courteous and attentive. Food was very good and reasonably priced except for the duck which seemed a little high. The brussel sprouts were excellent as was the lobster/caviar appetizer. The skate was also very good. Wine list was adequate and reasonably priced. Would recommend the restaurant and will likely return.
Went there for one of my best friend’s birthdays and couldn’t have asked for a better meal, service & overall experience!
Lovely decor and delicious food - flawless felt like I was in Brooklyn or NYC
Absolutely amazing, finished everything! Service was wonderful as well!! Will definitely be back.
Food is extravaganza and service is very attentive. Like the design so much where abundant plants and the stylish furniture together bring tranquility.
Portion is gigantic, be cautious when ordering. Large means a lot and desert is meant to be shared.
Unique menu, nice delivery and everything we ordered was delicious. Great service too.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. Will request upstairs seating on my next visit.
We thought it was a great experience in dining. The food was creative and delicious. Drink menu was the same. Our server was friendly, helpful, and a delight. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone one, especially foodies.
We went here for date night this past Sunday. Not only is this restaurant beautiful inside and out, the food was outstanding. We enjoyed three appetizers before our meals (yes we enjoy eating) and we couldn't decide what part we loved more. They have a delicious drink menu and the wine list was great as well. The service was prompt, kind and fun! Cannot wait to go back!
Outstanding meal, our server who was also the bar tender was so knowledgeable and made the best suggestions as far as the menu. Highly recommend!
We dined here based on reviews. However, food ingredient combinations were too experimental for me. Wine prices were extreme. This is Pittsburgh after all and not a 5-star restaurant. Waiter too pushy regarding ordering more food. Ambiance is very nice but located in an iffy neighborhood.
We have not been here since they changed the menu format. In many ways it was an improvement because the other times we had were here we could certainly see that the average person would not want all these fancy dishes with innumerable ingredients. It was fine for me, but many other people were not happy. We would say the food was decent, but in every case it was one step below being actually great. There are certain refinements that are clearly not being perfected. It is almost as though “good enough “ Is good enough. I have to say that all of the DeShantz restaurants are suffering from perhaps a lack of management and an executive chef with overall vision. I don’t like to generalize but I would say that overall they are perhaps opening too many restaurants too quickly and the focus is not on making each one excellent, but rather making An interesting vision and quantity. It’s actually very sad for us because we have loved all of the restaurants when they first opened.
Impeccable service accompanied by the knowledge to make your dining experience here perfect. The dishes are nothing short of exceptional and I look forward to my next visit upon leaving every time.
We dined early on a Saturday and were seated upstairs. I was grateful because I am not crazy about the communal tables and plastic seating downstairs.
The food was amazing! Loved the tempura asparagus, halibut collar. Burrata, pea agnolotti.
Too full for dessert. Maybe next time.
Excellent service. Nicely spaced food. A great dinner all around. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious just expensive.
I'm not a Foodie but this place makes me want to be one! Food was Amazing!
Excellent meal. My family shared all of our small and large plates and everything was fantastic. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. Will eat here again in the near future.
We had an excellent experience at Fish nor Fowl. Everything was delicious, beautiful to look at, with attentive waitstaff. The combination of different spices and foods were unusual, which for me is a positive adventure. Especially loved the watermelon gazpacho with shrimp, had curry . Wasn't expecting it, and the flavors went so well together. Could have eating large bowl for dinner - LOVED it!
A simply delightful dining experience. The wait staff, ambience, and attention to detail were fantastic. The attention and care given to each ingredient highlighted the love this team has for food.
We are big fans of Fish nor Fowl going back to when it was newly opened. The food is still amazing, but we prefer the original style of small plates. Entrees came out looking overwhelming. The beauty of the food is to be able to celebrate the incredible flavors and not get it lost in plates of risotto or shredded vegetables. The increase in serving of caviar and smashed potatoes is too large and should be presented as shareable. We always enjoyed ordering lots of small plates and sharing tastes versus a first course and entree. We are obviously in the minority here sadly.
great meal and service. absolutely delicious from start to finish. two thumbs (and have the mushroom bolognese if it's available).
Great anniversary dinner! Attentive wait staff, delicious food. Only minor complaint was that I'd have preferred the bottle of rose we ordered be put on ice after opening. Otherwise, great experience!
Family get together. We were visiting family in Pittsburgh and decided to try Fish nor Fowl. I have to say it was very good. The duck was excellent as was the chicken thighs and pasta. Steak was very good but not a large portion at least for my husband. Deserts all were wonderful.
My only negative The Music. When we got there at 6:15 the music was very loud playing Jimi Hendrix and then the Doors. Strange music for this restaurant. They did turn it down. We did enjoy the food and ambiance just please keep the music down.
My daughter and I had an amazing and memorable dinner at Fish. Our waiter Cody was extremely attentive without being overbearing.
We were very impressed with our experience here. Soothing environment; decor best described as modern beach, if that’s a thing. We began with cocktails. One classic gin and tonic with herbs and a rum and egg cream cocktail. Both very pleasant and not too strong or too sweet. We enjoyed the agnolotti, foie gras, charred broccoli, carrot soup and chicken pappardelle. This is French inspired food done well. We also had an excellent rose wine that was refreshing like a white but with the depth of a red. Very nice evening and we will be returning with friends in the near future!
AMAZING epicurean experience! Chef's table style is both intimate and communal. Spaces are separated with beautiful greenery matching the living wall! The bar was a great place to sit as well. Mixologists concoct the most creative drinks I have seen in a long time...Highly recommend the Blue Algae.
I am from Boston and every restaurant in Pittsburgh that I have been to has been nothing short of extraordinary. This was my first visit to Fish nor Fowl, however, I have been to Butcher and The Rye 3 times and didn't think anything could beat it...Simply said: Richard Deshantz makes the community better! My hopes are that he expands to Boston!!!!
Food was extremely flavorful and the restaurant decor was tranquil. Excellent service and atmosphere.
Great food. Portions are larger than I remember. Overall a great meal.
Beautiful restaurant and great service. My dinner was excellent. Wish they had a few more options on the menu and a bit pricey but the space was relaxing and I would definitely go back again.
