I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, and finally had a chance to have lunch there. After asking for suggestions from the items that appealed to us, our waiter, Matthew, steered us to the newly revised lobster roll duo on brioche, and told us why he liked it better than the previous version. Sold! One of us had it with fries, one with the house salad. BOTH were great, and the lobster rolls were amazing. Another must-try is the house cocktail made with vodka, lychee, citrus and elderflower. And ask for Matthew. He aims to please, and does.
Our server was excellent and kept us updated on our when our meals would arrive
Scallops and the bread pudding were exceptional
Aloha Freddie, So happy you enjoyed your experience! And thank you so much for taking time to review us. I am currently obsessed with our Bread Pudding! I love that it's super flavorful but not too heavy. We look forward to your next visit! Mahalo
For the most part the food was good. I had the Uni Risotto which I enjoyed. We also had the cioppino which the sauce was too thick and the special crab legs which was good but not great. Our side order of Brussel Sprouts was not cooked long enough and even when we had it cooked more it was still tough on the inside. We ordered their Ube Bread Pudding which was very good.
Thank you for taking time to review us! Very happy that you enjoyed the Uni Risotto! It is one of our new Chef's signature dishes. And thank you for the feedback on the sprouts, we will look into it. We look forward to your next visit! Mahalo
Always excellent, tasty and savory food!
Aloha Erika, So happy you enjoyed your experience! And thank you so much for taking time to review us. We look forward to your next visit! Mahalo
Stopped in to try the lobster roll-it was just delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly. Restaurant was open air with nice fans and comfortable even in the midday heat. Parking is easy on the street or in the structure (restaurant partially validates). Will be back! Mahalo and aloha
Mahalo for your kind review! We look forward to your next visit!
Quincy was a rock star! Very accommodating and a great bartender and server! Hostess was very kind and friendly!
Will definitely return to their Happy hour one day as well as Pau Hana on Fridays.
Thank you so much for your review! Quincy is a rock star! Yes please do come back to visit us soon! Mahalo
Great food. Server, Michael, was very good. Enjoyed the ahi and lobster sandwiches. A new favorite for casual and tasty eats.
Aloha, So happy you enjoyed your experience with us! We look forward to your next visit and thank you so much for taking time to review us! Mahalo
Cooking is slow.
Thank you for your feedback! We will make sure to work on our timing!
Slow service even thought it wasn’t busy. Oyster shooters were bad, sour and bitter tasting (the waiter said it was the special lilikoi cider, but it just tasted bad). Took us an hour half to get our appetizers, so we didn’t order entrees and just left.
Food and service excellent. Highly recommended and we'll e back very soon!
We very much enjoyed our experience at FISH Honolulu. They seemed understaffed today but the server was friendly and hustled to get our order in and out. The food was absolutely delicious... everyone in our party enjoyed their meal.
Aloha Lisa, We appreciate your review and are so happy you enjoyed your experience with us! Mahalo
Our waiter was awesome I can’t remember her name :( but she was kinda brunette or blonde with highlights she was super nice and was probably one of the best waiters I’ve ever had thank you!
Aloha Audissey, Thank you so much for your review! I also agree, Quincy is very good at her job! We hope to see you again! Mahalo
Food was great and service good. Likes the cool breeze and blue lights. It was my birthday so ice cream dessert from Butterfly was free. All our left over boxes were labeled and they included utensils, extra sauces. Loved the extra service and will go again the next chance I get.
First the bad or rather the mediocre: ordered a standard margarita, the house tequila was good but the brand of mix used could be better as it left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. I should have ordered my tried and true straight up Marino to do a better restaurant evaluation. The three of us had the cioppino as an entree. My buddies thought it was good but I like mine more brothy than stew like; however the flavor was nice and very edible with the two slices of Italian bread and half a slipper lobster, many mussels and clams along with a few bites of white fish. Great value at $29. The best part was that we unexpectedly made heaps hour and the raw oysters were 50% off! Winner! We ordered two dozen. There were four varieties of oysters so our waiter suggested six of each. It was the right suggestion. To say we ENJOYED the oysters is an understatement! It was my girlfriend’s 50th birthday and we got a scoop of Butterfly ice cream. The calamari was good. As was the crab cakes. Definitely will go back!
Aloha, Thank you so much for the your review! I do agree the Cioppino is a tasty dish! Keep in mind we do Happy Hour every day from 4-6pm. And if you are a fan of oysters, we hold an Oyster Fest at the end of the month. If you follow us on facebook or instagram, you will see the specifics closer to the date. Looking forward to your next visit!
Great food great service
I got the Cioppino so I was expecting a spicy seafood soup/broth. Instead I got a dish that included seafood and a bland thick marinara sauce. Very disappointed. Not worth 32$ at all. Also all our meals came late and we waited a long time for everything. I overheard other tables around us had the same waiting issue as well. Not worth the money at all.
The place is nice. Not sure how nice would it be when it’s hot since no AC exists
Food menu is limited for dinner service. Service is friendly, casual.
Oyster shooters are great, as well as the crab cakes!
Portions are smaller than average I would say
Overall is good
Aloha, Thank you so much for taking time to review us! Yes, sometimes it can get a little warm but the open space and breeze helps for sure. If you love our crab cakes we have Happy Hour every day from 4-6pm where they are half off! We look forward to your next visit! Mahalo
Great restaurant featuring fresh local fish. We had the diver scallops and white miso salmon entrees. Both were super ono! My only criticism is the chicken tenders that my children were served were so over cooked and dry they wouldn't eat them. Overall, we will definitely be joining the Fish Honolulu team again for dinner. They have a great Happy hour menu as well!
Aloha Michael, Thank you so much for reviewing us! We do feel that keikis should have the same quality of food as everyone else so we apologize for the quality. If you enjoyed the Happy Hour menu, we do offer all day Pau Hana menu on Fridays were all appetizers and salads are 25% off and beverages are from 20%-50% off. Please do introduce yourselves on your next visit, we love making new friends! Mahalo
Great food, happy hour prices are amazing, and the service was excellent
Aloha, So happy you were able to enjoy your happy hour and thank you for reviewing us! Please do join us for Pau Hana Fridays, it's 25% on apps and salads with discounts on drinks all day. We will still participate in happy hour but just in case you can't make it that time. Mahalo, Agnes
Our first time to FISH. Food and service were great! It was a very warm evening so it was little too warm, even with the ceiling fans, but to be expected with an open air atmosphere. We were also a little disappointed that our party of 4 were celebrating a birthday but we were not offered at least a birthday dessert for the guest of honor. I thought all restaurants do that.
Aloha Diane, We do offer something sweet and I am very sorry we missed our opportunity to celebrate it! I am very happy to hear that you have enjoyed your experience otherwise. Please do let the guest of honor know that they are owed a birthday dessert and to ask for Agnes or Roman next time they visit us. Otherwise, thank you so much for taking time to give us a review and I hope that you can visit us soon! mahalo!
We dine out Wednesday evenings to avoid the crowds and to try to find a QUIET place to eat and converse. Also, because Honolulu has such mild weather we prefer outside dining.
FISH showed up in an OPEN TABLE review and we tried it for the first time.
Unfortunately for FISH, there were only two other couples dining that night. But for us, it made a very pleasant quiet evening.
The service was pleasant and efficient. The Risotto and Cioppino were excellent, flavorful and adequate portions.
We'll definitely put FISH on our Wednesday schedules in the future.
Aloha Jack, Thank you so much for the nice review! So happy you enjoyed your experience with us! I also love the outdoor dining, coming from Chicago it's a rare opportunity. Please make sure to introduce yourself on your next visit which we are looking forward to! Mahalo
We had a great date night to celebrate our anniversary in a casual and comfortable environment. Dining is outdoors (they have fans for warm nights). Fish has a new extended pau hana menu, specially priced, so we tried a few things. I was surprised of how big the calamari portion was. It was really good. Next we had the tomato and burrata salad. I was hoping it was like a caprese salad but this version was like a salad in a bowl which included cherry tomatoes, watermelon (good choice) and the burrata cheese which was nice and smooth. It was just a little hard to eat. I should have asked for grilled bread to spread the cheese and tomatoes like a bruschetta. But our shared course, the Cioppino, was one of the best we’ve had. The grilled sour dough bread was perfect. We were also surprised when we were treated to a couple glasses of champagne and dessert by the restaurant. So wonderful. From start to finish, the entire staff and management provided superior service and we will definitely be back!
Aloha, We are so happy to have made a positive experience for such an important day! Thank you so much for your review and we do hope to see you soon! Mahalo
The food was exceptional across the board. Loved the trendy style and there were a lot of items on the menu I'd love to try. Obviously given the name the seafood was very good but the ribeye steak was awesome.
Aloha, Thank you so much for your review! We look forward to your next visit!
The lobster roll was deeelicious! Ciabatta bread was light and the warm lobster tasted so fresh! Salad had a uniquely delicious green dressing. Husband's minced ahi sandwich was tasty and a little spicy; the sour dough bread was fluffy; and the french "fries" were flat and served sprinkled with parmesan--so yummy! Eish we were hugrier that Friday to try the 25% off pau-hana-all-day discount on appetizers like calamari or crab cakes!
Aloha Darlene, So happy you guys got to take advantage of the Pau Hana deal! We do it every Friday and on Sundays/Mondays we do Half Off Wine Bottles. You could come in for that and our everyday Happy Hour from 4-6pm and really have yourself a party! Thank you for your review and we hope to see you soon! Mahalo
UPDATED REVIEW: My first experience with FISH Honolulu left something to be desired, but I recognize the ability for even great restaurants to just have a miss every now and then. Upon being graciously invited back by the management to give them a second try, we left with an entirely different opinion. The waitress was spectacular, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food. This is something every diner should want when seeking an exquisite dining experience. The aquatic focused environment, paired with FRESH tastes in everything ordered made for the most pleasant of evenings out with my spouse. The crab & artichoke dip appetizer was so excellently seasoned it made all spinach-artichoke dips from my past pale in comparison. First time tasting Cioppino, and will absolutely order again. The consistency and flavor of the sauce, combined with the perfect cook on all of the shellfish within just gave the perfect umami flavor and soft texture that left nothing more than a smile upon our faces. This chef clearly knows what they’re doing here. The scallops were expertly seared alongside perfectly seasoned pairings of asparagus and a sharp-cheese au gratin potatoes. The portions were perfect, and you truly had a sense of being in Hawaii, as if all the produce was plucked straight from the ocean that morning. This place knows what they’re doing, dealing only in quality food and service. Highly recommend!
First time here and will definitely be back. Loved the fish sandwich that I chose and the fries! Although it was hot outside the venue was cool and breezy.
Service was excellent and friendly!
Great service. Excellent food. Nice new discovery. We will be back.
So we were looking for a new place to try out for my birthday. Googled and Fish Honolulu came up. It is located in Salt in Kaka'ako so the ambiance was great. It is an Outside restaurant so it was a bit warm. They do have ceiling fans and floor fans, but if you eat here you need to prepare yourself for whatever the weather is like. I believe they must have been short handed as it too a LONG time to get drinks, the salads, dinner and desert. We were not in a big hurry so we didn't let it bother us too much, but the service should have been much quicker. I had the risotto and it was ok, fish was dry. Husband really enjoyed the miso salmon, our friends had the catch of the day, which I believe was Mongchong, and the scallops. They said the fish was also dry, scallops were great...the salad dressing also tasted as if it was straight up basil, so we didn't care for that much either. I know this is a new restaurant and I wish them well, but they need to hire additional servers and make sure the cook isn't overcooking the fish.
Limited fresh fish selection. If you like seafood stew, it is well represented. I ordered fresh oysters and thai shrimp curry. These were expertly prepared. Be prepared for open air outdoor dining since that's all they have. There is no scenery, no ambience.
Great beverages, bartender was a rockstar. Dinner was “ok” - the waiter seemed really oblivious or not present. Don’t know if he was just really tired or didn’t know the menu. Food selection - not a ton of variety but the food was pretty tasty!
Best dish was the crab cakes & miso salmon, scallops were big & tasty but a little salty, seems they sprinkled rock salt to finish dish....should have used regular salt but with the grilled asparagus it helped cut some of the salt. Loved the setting & service.
Great food & service. Love the Raspberry Fizz mocktails! Tomato & Burrata Salad with Cajun shrimp was delicious!
We went for the fresh oyster fest. They flew in Oysters from the Pacific Northwest and they were excellent. The calamari was not to my taste. I love calamari but the cream sauce on top mixed with the marinara sauce on the bottom did'nt really do it for us. Service was great!
We tried FISH for the first time for dinner. The open air atmosphere is great and the food was really tasty. The service was top notch and we felt the price was fair. They alos ahve a great happy happy hour from 5:30 to 6:00 with 50% off drinks and pupus. We will definaitly go back. MG
Waitstaff friendly. Whispering Angel rose on wine list. Fish and seafood a bit over cooked.
I was entertaining business associates for lunch and a little nervous about it since I had not eaten lunch at Fish before. I’ve been there several times for dinner and always enjoyed the experience. The lunch was a complete success. First, I love the ambiance... it’s small enough to feel unique and quaint but not too small. The look is artistic and cooling with an aqua blue theme. Check out the fish scale tiles around the bar.
Plus, the second floor location catches a nice breeze even on a hot summer day. I’m a big fan of the open air feel ... seems so European, and although it was a sweltering day we were very comfortable. There was no waiting for the table and our server appeared right away. I talked everyone into a round of Spritzes, which were prepared perfectly. We followed up with the calamari appetizer which has a uniques sauce and which they apparently are becoming well known for. Lunch was Ahi Salads and an Ahi Sanwich. My guests salads were fresh and drew raves and my sandwich was delicious. We ended with a chocolate cake (don’t remember the exact name) and the key lime pie. Perfect ending.
I’m alerting all my friends to Fish and intend to patronize regularly. I want to sit at their bar someday too ... looks very interesting! I suggest supporting this place. You’ll like the vibe and the food.
Service was great. Staek was not at cooked as requested though.
