Fish Camp on Lake Eustis
Service was terrible- food took forever- waited 45 mins from time of ordering. Food was mediocre at best. Save your money and go somewhere else.
First - they didn’t have a record of our reservation. We got seated at a high top table. The waitress was wonderful. The food was pretty tasteless. My friend & I had the shrimp & grits - the shrimp were small & the whole meal lacked flavor. We both wound up adding some hot sauce. My husband a a combo that was just okay. Our friend had the fish tacos which he said were unremarkable. We won’t be returning
Visiting area for one night. Needed a place for dinner, chose Fish Camp. It was extremely busy that night so service was slow. We were seated right next to the bar, so at one point I just got up and got us drinks. It was not the waitresses fault she had to take a table of 24 men golfers and so that consumed her just to get their drink order. I timed it perfectly and got to the bar and ordered us drinks before she took the big order to the bartender. The food was ok,again very busy kitchen. I am thinking on a different day, it would have been a different experience.
Great location. Bad night for the waitress. Disappeared and no one could find her. Owner took our order.Food was average but main entrees were good and dessert was delish.
Great location on the water, celebrated our daughter’s birthday, great food and service
We sat outside by the water. The food was average. The cole slaw was chunky and flat (no spice) with way too much mayonnaise. Avoid it. The green beans needed some bacon or something to pick them up. The server insisted I changed my order from fried fish (which fit the setting) to what he claimed was a spectacular Grade A strip steak. Reluctantly I took the “special”. It wasn’t. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. It was a scraggly strip steak -thin and tasteless. The restaurant is a casual, understated waterside watering hole which probably does a better job with fried fish and French fries. I believe a “special” should be a special and was sad to have missed my opportunity to try their fried fare. Sadly, a leopard cannot change its spots!
Reservations were not necessary on a Monday night. Very casual. I had a pound of peel and eat shrimp doused with old bay and my date had a crab cake which she raved about perhaps due to the key lime martinis...
Although this fish camp is "on the water" it is also located on a very busy intersection. Traffic noise was a big distraction to an otherwise decent lunch meal.
Best food and service around. Everything is fresh, cooke well, and many items are sustainable. They also have gluten free items. Jim is a hands on ,personable, and generous owner.
Great food on a banks of the lake. A little of the old Florida feel really took me back.
Everything was great. We really loved our server Gordon. He provided excellent service and made our visit perfect!!
Very crowded and noisy. Food is ok. Not memorable for sure. Picture on website are a little deceiving.
My 5:45 reservation was pointless as by 6:30 we still were not seated. Manager telling me People with reservations for seated first but that was not correct as they took the person next to me who had no reservation. Plus it appeared to have leaks in roof in different areas. Food was ok and our waitress was great.
It was our first visit. Food was plentiful and tasty sides ( Brussel sprouts , cheesy grits and hush puppies). I had blackened shrimp and my husband had fired shrimp. The shrimp were small in size and mine were served cool. They had obviously been previously cooked and pan flashed for serving. The blackened seasoning was sparse. My husband had a side of onion rings and he said they were huge and had too much coating. The beer was nice and cold, but my husband’s rum and coke was weak.
However, the host was pleasant and our waitress was excellent.
Holes in bench seat. Brussel sprouts dry and tasteless. Mahi mahi tasted ok. Rest of food and wine, fantastic. Young lady who served us was excellent.
Great food well served!
Bacon cheese grits were spectacular and the blackened shrimp tasty. Live music and the lake view made our Saturday lunch a unique experience. Our server Joan was extremely courteous and professional.
Absolutely perfectly what it is, a fish camp , with all its funky charm. Wonderful staff, all about the customer’s happiness and delicious food, extensive menu , full bar and fun drinks... I plan on returning tonight!
Fish Camp is exactly what you want in a nice family Florida fish restaurant. It is right on a lake with nice views. Inside was a bit noisy so we ate outside which was very good. Our server Kristina?? was very helpful with her recommendations. The food was very good and the menu is pretty big.
It is not the Ritz and you will like it.
Fish fry Friday is always great!!! But, I would also have enjoyed the lobster that my husband ALMOST caught
We appreciated that local produce, beer and spirits are offered & enjoyed the wide variety of dishes offered. Great value for the money.
Food was great...service was OK, had to ask for my side dish 15 minutes after my dinner was served.
We enjoyed the shrimp and magi tacos. Seafood was fresh tasting, and sides were excellent.
Gator bites are really good. Good place for casual seafood dining.
Great experience. My girlfriend had never been to a fish camp restaurant. She fell in love with it. Will definitely be making this place a frequent date night.
The hostess was a doll. Absolutely kind and helpful. Our server was a nice young girl and all of the waitstaff seemed nice. I think though that I had different expectations of what this place would be like, based on the large number if well dressed folks who happened to be dining there. I felt the food quality was just ok, though I did love the house salad dressing (Orange vinaigrette). I was not too excited about the wine selection, though I’m finding many places here don’t offer quality wines (kind of strange when you have to go to Applebee’s to get a better glass of vino!).
They were very good about bringing drink refills even before we asked, and the portions for the meals were good. All in all, it’s not a place I’ll return to, but I can see how others might like it. I’m ultra picky, so take my review with a grain of salt. The prices were very reasonable and the service was speedy. Plus, it’s right on the water which is always nice. It amazes me that in Lake county... there aren’t too many lakeside eateries.... at least not that I can see
This was our first time and it was great! I was craving crab legs and they happened to be serving them that night. The crab was a great price and was cooked to perfection. My husband and I both enjoyed their kale salad. Both of us were highly satisfied with our meal and our waitress. Everyone there was super nice and the music they had playing on the speakers was great (not too loud).
Quick service, good food, attentive staff. What's not to like. Ending the experience with the creme brulee was perfect. Will return soon.
It was trivia night and great fun
Service was poor, food was cold, employees didn't seem like they wanted to work and to just finish up and go home. We went in at 815pm and they closed at 9pm. Plenty of time to eat and leave. We sent back 2 of our 4 dishes, my husband was hungry and just ate his but it was cold too. Server wasn't busy with tables, she did bring use a dessert for free which was nice, but probably wont go back.
Good service. Food was good for a local place. Crab soup was excellent but crab cakes were bland. Would definately go again.
Had a very good dinner for 2 recently. Drinks, and dinner were very well done. The Seafood Trio was ordered by both of us for our mains. Mine had the blackened salmon and DM had hers with the fried catfish. Both were very good, as were the shrimp and crab cakes. We will return soon.
The looks of this small place is deceiving, it's rather quaint once you are inside, we sat out on the deck near the fans, it was nice to watch the locals pull up on their boats. Summer was our server she was pleasant. The food portions were sufficient and craft beers were good although a bit pricey for pint. We would definitely go back.
Wonderful time great service busy time went mothers day no problem didn't feel rushed kind curtious service and the food was excilent no long wait for your food I really enjoyed
The food was terrible. Undercooked fish, side dishes that never came out. They were a little busy but the service and food was completely underwhelming.
The seating was very tight, too many tables crammed into a small space. People bumping into tables and booths trying to get by. Sky lights that are uncomfortable to sit under, like sitting under a heat lamp.
The food...the salad never came, two sides that never came out. The server blamed the food runners, yet never checked on us after the food came out. Never got asked for a drink refill. Had to flag someone down every time we needed anything.
Would not ever return
My Wife & I enjoy Fish Camp , the Food is Good to Excellent & the atmosphere is Quite with a Lake View
We enjoyed the Easter meal. Great dining experience.
The only restaurant I will eat fish at! The only thing WE don't like is their cold slaw!
Except for Fried fish the meal was not very good. Grits were over cooked, fish tacos just a piece of fish inside a tortilla with side of salsa and no other ingredients normally on them like cabbage, lettuce, etc. Food was not seasoned well. Service took a long time and once served the waitress was friendly. Not a good experience. This place needs to improve food quality and service ASAP.
There were six of us and five of us had fish and chips. It was hot and crunchy and delicious. We'll go back.
