Lovely ambiance set in a refurbished blacksmith shop, complete with decor and fire places. However, the menu is very expensive, and the food average fair when compared to Manhattan restaurants with similar prices. Most offensive is the wine list, which had only two bottles listed under $60. Also unsatisfactory was our waitress' failure to describe the wine we ordered as a sour wine, which it was- interesting, but certainly uncommon and an acquired taste meriting forewarning. The food is delicious- classic preparation with some fusion twists in flavor, but for the prices, we expected something really stellar. Better to stick to the more local Hudson establishments than get suckered into "tourist trap".

This is an amazing dining experience. From the aumbiance to the service, food options and preparation. Cocktails and wine menu were superb as well. The small plates were delicious and my favorite was the fireplace oysters! So good. We had the duck entree for two which was outstanding! All of it was just amazing and we will be back for sure!

Gorgeous, warm atmosphere (if you're OK with the taxidermied decor), excellent service. The sofas around the fireside in the front were especially inviting. Specializes in small plates with very interesting combinations (fire-roasted snails, beans cooked over a fire). They have two large plates (on the night we went, a trout and a whole fire-roasted chicken -- you get the fire-roasted theme), but at $75 for the chicken, as tasty as it was, it was not a $75 chicken (I don't think there is such a thing). Maybe $50 (we ended up having left overs for dinner the next night). And the wine list is fairly expensive, few bottles for less than $100. So not quite expensive for NYC, but for Hudson, they are pushing the ceiling.

What a huge disappointment and we soooooo wish we had taken opentable & Yelp reviews more seriously - I think we were so swayed by the accolades of yore and my advice to anyone reading this is to think very seriously about having dinner here. The ambiance is cozy (can't imagine it would be a spot I'd want to hang in during the summer months) so if you want to sit in the bar area and sip on a cocktail, fine, but DON'T waste your money for the dinner. Service: The core server referred to everyone as "friend". The wine steward seemed to be knowledgeable but get ready, there are no decent wines for under $150/bottle - the bottle we ordered for $180 was reasonably priced for what it is, but we know there are a lot of very good bottles that restaurants would price for $100 - $125. And there's another woman (not sure of her core role) who really seemed to be ignorant about food, as if she takes what this restaurant does for granted and either doesn't care that the customer is questioning aspects, or she's just someone who doesn't cook or spend the money to eat at higher end establishments to know what one should expect. Food: wow, very disappointing. Oh, and back to the server, he didn't walk us through the menu (which is absolutely needed the first time one dines there) & only did so when we had several questions about the dishes - then we noticed that this was the first thing he did with other tables. Sardines - they were okay but way too pricey for what you get. Pasta w/ lamb ragu - good and worth ordering. Cabbage leaves - limp as a wet sock and completely inappropriate for a side dish (would have been fine if you were stuffing them). The main course of the chicken ($78 for 2 people, which is a comparable price to what NOMAD offers so not a crazy price for what one would expect to be a mouth watering dish). The chicken was not tender, in fact very tough and salty. Polenta - as watery/runny as runny oatmeal.

Really small portions, which would not have bothered me if the food was great, but we found the food to be nothing special. It certainly did not warrant the high price tag. Service and ambience was fine.

We visited Fish & Game this past weekend on a getaway to Hudson from Philadelphia. We were a bit nervous about bringing our 9-month old baby but had no other choice and the staff was very accommodating. While the hostess explained they do not typically allow babies in the dining room to maintain the ambiance, they escorted us to a lovely seating area by a roaring fire and served us a beautiful meal there. The service was impeccable, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was rustic, romantic and inviting - precisely where you want to be on a cold winter's night. The sable melted in our mouths, the homemade pasta with lamb ragout is still teasing our tastebuds long after the meal and the roasted oysters were the best oysters either of us have ever had in all of our travels around the world. Bravo! We will be back!

Drove out from Manhattan to visit Fish & Game. Honestly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. You must try the snails, buratta with fermented chilis and anything with F&G next to it. The prosciutto is outstanding and can compete with any Iberian ham, superb. Leave yourself in Mikes (sommelier) hands when it comes to wine, the list is wonderful and has some incredible gems, especially a vertical of Fiorano Bianca wines, true unicorn wines.
