Every entre was good except the Scallops. They had a very prominate smell and taste like cleaning fluid. We returned it. The waiter was nice and said no problem and took it off the bill

I should've had the burger. My son did and he was very pleased. I went for the halibut and garlic mashed potatoes which was fantastic when I had the same over the summer. However last night, the fish was thin and dry, and the potatoes weren't fluffy and they lacked flavor. For a $27 entree, I was very disappointed.

One of our favorite local places that we return to despite no longer being so local for us. Amazing beer selection. Great ambience. Food is consistently better than one might expect for a beer bar. So glad they are here!

Most everything was ok. Beer was good. The mussels were not good. They were very small and lacked any flavor. Very disappointing I still recommend Firkin, as they usually do a good job. This time not so much.

We went for a family dinner on a little celebration. It was perfect. Service was friendly and efficient, food was delicious and cocktails and beers were amazing. Dessert was also great. Ambience is casual, with good music (Classic Rock) on a very decent volume. I highly recommend it!

We took our new US Navy Sailor here for a special steak dinner. Great variety of menu and drink items, lots of goat cheese dishes for lactose intolerant needs, excellent friendly service. We would definitely return for a date night if we lived here!

Honestly the quality has just changed from years past. If the restaurants not booked on a Friday night I don’t understand why I have to sit right next to other quests during covid; the waitress was obviously more focused on her main table, and rarely checked in on us, we didn’t get our waters until the end of the meal, we waited at least 30 mins to order our app and the app and the main were served together on a tiny table. The drinks, bad, both drinks tasted the same with little flavor. It felt like we were just an after thought? And like they rushed our food and app to get us out. Probably won’t go back, just sad because it used to be a great place with great service.

Firkin is one of my favorite restaurants in Libertyville. Quality is built into everything they serve and the service is always outstanding. I never need a menu - the schnitzel is amazing!

Service was very poor. Our waiter was not attentive and was in a constant rush — never checking back to see how we were doing and his mask was under his nose half the time. Food was mediocre. The bartender staff person who seated us was slightly rude when we wanted a different table than his suggestion. My meal was messed up — salad soaked in dressing after I requested dressing on the side. I asked if herbal teas were available and the waiter brought a tea bag and hot water; set it in front of me and took off never asking me if the type of tea was okay. It contained licorice which I can’t ingest for medical reasons so basically all I had to just drink was a cup of hot water. He could have suggested coffee. I would never go back there. My brother asked for ketchup which was never brought and my brother finally got up and took a bottle from another table. The Christmas decorations were festive. The ladies room was freezing.

We loved it! It was crowded and noisy, but in a vibrant way. The food (goat cheese, shrimp de jonghe, grilled cheese, and shrimp tacos were great, as were the Manhattan, a couple stouts, tiramisu, lava cake, and the around the world bourbon flight. Our server, Fen, was outstanding. We'll definitely go back, probably many times!

Like many restaurants they were short staffed. Had to wait a while to get a drink to have with my piping hot meal. The scallop dejonge was generally good and flavorful. Some scallops had a slight fishy taste. The chips guac and salsa were excellent. The server was very nice.

Love Ferkin’s ambience, beer choices,location, parking. Negatives : Menu changes with reduction what is served on a plate with the cost remaining high for what you get. I ordered the Farro salmon @ $36 dinner entree and received only a 6 ounce portion of salmon with sauce and vegetable which consisted of fried onions green and red peppers and very little asparagus. No starch was added to the plate and nothing else unless you ordered À la cart. In the future I would only come for drinks and maybe a burger.

Firkin is always a favorite of mine and especially at the Holidays. I was a little disappointed this year that they don’t have more randomly strung holiday lights like they have had in the past. The food and service was great and a very vibrant atmosphere.

The restaurant is on the smaller side. The food and service are well above average. The noise level in the restaurant is quite high as the restaurant has many hard surfaces and music playing at high levels. Great atmosphere for a festive small group outing, but not so much for a business lunch or intimate dinner.
