We love the food and service! Considering it is one of the few options in the Hyatt, we had low expectations but were thrilled at the variety on the buffett! The price was comparable to a dinner at any other restaurant in the Hyatt but the food options were amazing and really good! Highly recommend!
Delicious food, attentive service, fun atmosphere! This is a large restaurant located inside the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort. The resort attracts a lot of families, so expect children and the accompanying noise. This is not the spot for a romantic date or serious business meeting, but is perfect for a family get-together or casual dining with friends.
Christmas buffet. Mediocre food. Over priced.
Our wait person, Eric, is commendable. He made my birthday dinner special.
I hope you all know what a special employee and representative you have. He is ‘management talent’ worthy of your consideration.
We went early in the evening, our waiter was prompt and courteous. We had more than one staff check in on us and tend to our needs if any. I had a pasta dish and it was very slightly overcooked but was ok for me and the rest of the table all had excellent meals (Steaks all cooked properly to desire). Soups and salads were right on for flavor and content ( the dressing option was phenominal). The bread/rolls offered were crunchy on the outside and I prefer a softer roll however had good bread flavor. The desserts were a good portion size and delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and described items to a T. We had comfortable seating and was not to cold as that tends to be an issue when living in TX. Hot outside, cold inside. A very pleasant experience overall for our first visit. It is a pricier menu for us so not for everyday dining but good for occasions.
I thought there was a dinner menu you could order from, but upon sitting was told it was buffet only. Being a vegetarian that never really works out to be worth it for me and this wasn't any different. I had mason jar salad, green beans and potatoes. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and had I know in advance we would have gone elsewhere. The food was good just not worth the cost. We also reserved an outdoor table and were frequently forgotten about. I needed to go find our server to get the check.
On saturdays they only do a buffet, which at $28 per adult I found to be a very poor value. Nothing outstanding about the food, but not horrible. Wish I had gone off the resort though.
We made reservations to go here based on the menu. When we got there, we realized the menu listed on this app is NOT the menu for this restaurant. It is the menu for Stories--the nicer restaurant in the hotel. The dinner for this restaurant was a buffet including fried chicken and tater tots--something that as parents we would have enjoyed if our daughter was with us, but not when we were on a work retreat weekend with adults. And, we were celebrating our friends' 10th anniversary, so we were looking for something nice. This was not it.
I will say that we had a nice breakfast the next morning there and enjoyed the buffet. But, if you think to are going to enjoy the food on what they show as the dinner menu on here, you will be disappointed.
On a positive note, we ended up getting into Stories at about 9:00 and the food was delicious! Some others ate at the BBQ place and said it was really good too.
The food on the buffet was cold - even items that had been recently set out.
A lot of variety in choices. Very good desserts
The brunch is absolutely delicious for breakfast. Grits and the accoutrements for them were fabulous. The links sausage was very delicious. Also really enjoyed the brisket hash. Very nice service at the table for the brunch.
Kitchen a bit far away makes for slower service off the menu. The oatmeal was absolutely delicious! Also had eggs with sausage which was great.
Great service, but poor food. They took care of my daughter for her birthday, but I felt sorry for the resort patrons as they had to live with the poor food.
Buffet style with lots of food stations and options. We went back a second evening during our stay and really liked the food.
The food was amazing! Our waitress Krysta was ver knowledgeable about the food and had great suggestions when we wanted to sub an item. We will be back!
We were unaware that they were not serving their full menu, only a buffet. The food was good, a little inconsistent with the offerings, and they seemed to be running out of quite a few things as the night progressed. The service was a bit disorganized, but that's why I'm not a big buffet fan. Had I have known it was a buffet only, I would have made other arrangements.
Business dinner for a conference was great. Table outside in a quiet environment on a beautiful evening. Service and food was great!
Good good, although only buffet was available. We couldn't order off the menu. Great service!
This was our first visit to this wonder ful restaurant. It was a buffet with lots of different foods available. Our waiter was wonderful for the service and conversation. We were a party of six and we all enjoyed the food and the experience. We will be back.
We went to celebrate three birthday and my parents anniversary! It was special since my parents were visiting from out of town and this was their only weekend! It came highly recommended by our friends but we were touched by their gesture; they paid for half our meal as 'their' gift to us! In ALL my years of travel and dining (and I've been around the world), I've never been treated to such a kind and thoughtful gesture! Our server Christa was wonderful and we look forward to going there again!!!!
Great time, and Patrick took such great care of us for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. He really went above and beyond. Give him a raise! The filet mignon was perfect. Dessert was to die for...! Thank you!
Not my favorite restaurant in the universe. It is a hotel restaurant which does not help. Staff is very friendly and food (buffet only on that occasion) was ok. Nothing to write home about. As far as restaurants go, it's very average. I would not go back, but given that it is one of the few options at the Hyatt, I may have to :).
Our family had the buffet dinner during BBQ theme night. We thought for sure that BBQ in TX would be at least on par with other local BBQ joints around but we were wrong. The meats including the brisket was leathery and tough, and the rib was so dry that it was more of a jerky. Even the chicken was super dry and we were there for an early dinner (5:45pm reservations), so it was not even sitting there all that long. A major disappointment for us and our out of town guests. The dessert was nice and includes a chocolate fountain display. Service was great and we did receive an email from the restaurant manager apologizing for the poor quality of food. Omelette station staff made amazing omelettes at breakfast the next day.
Ate Christmas Brunch in the Firewheel Cafe. Nice selection but the food was just so-so. Overall a nice time and the service is excellent.
We expected much better service. The kids had the children's buffet, the adults ordered an appetizer and entrees from the menu. No-one ever removed our appetizer plates, the children's buffet plates or dessert plates throughout the entire dinner. It took a long time to receive our drink order and we had to ask for more water at the table several times. Usually service is more proactive in a resort restaurant.
We had a group of 13 people for lunch at the Hyatt. We had great service and everyone was very efficient as well as friendly. They accommodated all our requests, and our group was very pleased with the food and service.
Dining at the Firewheel Cafe was very delightful. The food was fantastic...especially the seafood buffet offered on Friday night...as well as the service...best service I've had in a restaurant in a long time. I will definitely come back.
We're hoping our server was new; many mistakes throughout the evening, forgotten drinks, misplaced order, cold coffee, freezing room - but everyone was really nice and the food was very good!
Very good breakfast, lunch was so-so. Service was slow for every meal, even when the restaurant was nearly empty. Very disappointing from that standpoint.
We liked that it was very kid-friendly.
We enjoyed Firewheel and we ended up eating from the buffet instead of off the menu. It was very good and had a good selection. Also, I enjoyed the dessert buffet which had everything from a chocolate fountain, to cookies, and cakes including cheesecake. The service was good, but a little slow at times and not quite as friendly as the rest of the staff on the property.
We dined at the Firewheel for Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Both buffets were outstanding for quality and value.
They have the most magnificent buffet. Wonder food and very reasonable price.
very good brunch for dinner and breakfast
The Mexican food buffet was pretty tasteless and the trout was drowned with the grits. The food was over priced with the presentation being good, but a very flat taste.
We were pleased with out lunch at the Firewheel. However, we had intended to eat at the Breakfast Buffet. Of course it had closed 5 minutes before we arrived. I had told our guests that it was the best BF we had ever gone to, a great family outing. On our previous visits we had always gone on holiday occasions when it had stayed open longer. Our suggestion is that you make it a brunch buffet and keep it open until 2 PM or so. Thank you for the feedback opportunity.
Not usually a buffet fan, but couldn't resist the salmon and prime rib. Everything tasted great. The desserts were pretty amazing as well. All for a very reasonable price.
We chose the buffet on Saturday night so everyone got something they liked. Standouts were prime rib and salmon. Not fabulous but perfectly acceptable meal. Very good service.
We were staying at this highly touted resort and this is the family oriented resturant for the resort. We ate there three times. We found the service staff to be poorly trained and unorganized. They had a tendancy to stand behind us and mumble which we found anoying. The food seemed to take a very long time to come out even though the resturant only had a few tables full. Little things like no bread plates for a dinner meal, no table cloth or place mats, or coasters for ice water or tea all made for a subpar experience. The food prices seem high for the experience. We expect more from a Hyatt facility.
We had a choice of ordering from the menu or trying the buffet. The buffet is the best deal, a good variety of food choices, especially the elaborate dessert table. The enchilada casserole was really good. Our server was friendly and attentive. It wasn't the most romantic setting for our anniversary dinner, lots of kids and noise, but we are grandparents so we enjoyed watching them.
Surprisingly low priced. Not like a typical Hyatt restaurant.
