Firenze Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
My husband enjoyed his birthday here. His favorite dish is the rack of lamb. My cheese ravioli with tomato sauce were excellent. Our waiter was very personable and his wine suggestion paired well with my dish. The birthday dessert of tiramisu was very decadent. Portions are very generous. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
A great restaurant for meeting friends. Always quiet enough for conversation. The food is always consistently good. This night I chose the fresh swordfish special which was the best swordfish I have ever had. You don't see it on the menu often. My friend had it as well and we both raved. Portions are very large and we always end up taking enough home for another meal.
We have been there several times and have enjoyed it. The food and service are very good.
On this occasion however we were seated in the side dining room usually used by large groups. About halfway through our dinner a birthday party group of 8 arrived and was seated next to our table. At that point the noise level was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation at our table. This significantly affected our enjoyment of the evening.
Hadn't been back to Firenze for a few years and thought to give it another go. Took a friend there for dinner and it was very good, and I'm sure we will put it back in the rotation. Very elegant and the service was very good. Were surprised to learn Monday is 1/2 price on bottled wines so that was nice.
Firenze is one of our go-to restaurants for celebration. It was husband's birthday and he had just gotten out of the hospital. We requested a quiet location so we could enjoy their amazing food and some quiet conversation. He got a hand made ravioli special with two different ravioli types and two different sauces - it was excellent. I had one of my favorites-scampi in white wine sauce. The tiramisu is excellent as well. Can't wait for an excuse to return.
Nice ambience and pleasant water fountain on the heated patio. However the Americanized Italian food was depicted by quantity and exaggeration rather than refined quality. I ordered the lasagna and my wife ordered the sea bass. We discovered that the portions are much larger than the flavors. My lasagna was under seasoned and blend. It had a stiffness about it I couldn’t explain. It was stuffed with chicken, beef, and sausage, which seamed to overcome one another in blandness. My wife took two bits of fish and said it was inedible. It felt non fresh or non cocked or both. The kind server offered to replace it with another dish and my wife selectee the capellini ala pomodoro. Upon arrival of the second dish it was obvious that the tomatoes were canned and even the ground Parmesan was industrial. Not a good choice for anyone who knows what expensive Italian food is supposed to taste like.
Lively atmosphere. Honored reservation on time. Very large portions; accommodating to gluten-free diet. Service was efficient but nothing special. Chicken meatballs were large ground beef with chunks of chicken rather than chicken being ground in. Sauces were average. Nice-sized shrimp in pasta dish but pasta not cooked al dente. Overall, ok but taste not a standout other than portion size.
We went early at 6pm to enjoy outdoor seating, but were met with two tables of toddlers. After the kids finished eating they started screaming with joy over the fountain. Their parents were oblivious and even encouraging the rowdy behavior in a place that charges $35 per entree. We did not expect that. Waitress was not very responsive. Had to ask twice for more water. Food was mediocre. Over all disappointed because friends had recommended it. Willing to try again, but will come later and eat inside.
The entire meal was magical from start to finish. We dined with vendors from Germany and our server Julie was attentive and cordial throughout the process. We enjoyed the cocktails, shaken just to the point where slivers of ice were floating in all the right places to the calamari appetizer (delicious) then the Caesar salads with plenty of anchovies and finally the main courses served hot and tasty. We will be back!
We've been going to Firenze for years. The food was excellent, as usual. This time we took the kids with us and they loved it. They even made plain old butter noodles for our youngest. The rigatoni ai funghi was delicious, and my son devoured the lasagna. The lobster ravioli was just okay. The ambiance is a little old fashioned, but it feels warm and inviting inside.
I love Firenze and have always had great food and service. I took a client there for lunch yesterday and I was very disappointed. I ordered my favorite dish, the cannelloni, and it was not up to standards. The portion was very small and swimming in way too much béchamel sauce. It took me four bites to consume my meal and then it was gone! My client ordered the spinach Caesar salad which looked delicious and she loved it. Our waitress was pleasant and delivered great service. I just think the portion of the cannelloni was very small and a tiny side salad on the plate would have made for a better value.
One of our favorite Italian restaurants in North County. Truly authentic Italian cuisine, beautiful restaurant, excellent service. Unfortunately a large group was seated near us in a small room, so noise level was really high. If the weather was cooler, we would have sat outside on the beautiful patio with the fountain.
The restaurant is located in an upscale shopping center in inland Encinitas. Choose their patio area if the weather is nice.. it can get noisy inside as the place fills. The fare is a range of good to above average Italian plates and a well considered wine list, as well as a full bar.
The overall experience was nice but when the bill arrived we were "shocked" to see the cost of the caprese salads. It was our fault for not re-checking the menu when we had second thoughts about ordering a salad (actually 2 salads to be split three ways). The salad which consisted of 4 slices of tomatoes with cheese, was $18 each...$36 for basically a tomato! NEVER again order a salad thinking "how expensive could it be".
We ate outdoors on the patio, very pleasant. Waiter was very knowledgeable, pleasant, smart. We split the insulate del orto -- $17. It was only fair. But we were charged $20. They corrected the charge blaming, of course, the computer. My wife had the lasagna, which is very good, very large, if quite simple--comfort food. I had the scampi alla fresca with white wine sauce over linguine--$28. Five good-sized shrimps, but did not seem to be particularly fresh.
