Firenze Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
The overall experience was nice but when the bill arrived we were "shocked" to see the cost of the caprese salads. It was our fault for not re-checking the menu when we had second thoughts about ordering a salad (actually 2 salads to be split three ways). The salad which consisted of 4 slices of tomatoes with cheese, was $18 each...$36 for basically a tomato! NEVER again order a salad thinking "how expensive could it be".
We ate outdoors on the patio, very pleasant. Waiter was very knowledgeable, pleasant, smart. We split the insulate del orto -- $17. It was only fair. But we were charged $20. They corrected the charge blaming, of course, the computer. My wife had the lasagna, which is very good, very large, if quite simple--comfort food. I had the scampi alla fresca with white wine sauce over linguine--$28. Five good-sized shrimps, but did not seem to be particularly fresh.
The food and service were very good, as always. I was there with two friends who had invited me to go there for my birthday. Had a wonderful tiramisu on the house as a birthday gift. I have been there many times, for all types of occasions. It's a very reliable good choice. I can only hope that I will have many more opportunities to dine at Firenze.
We had a very nice meal with you. Our server was very attentive and personable. The entrees were well prepared and the portions generous. I enjoyed the shrimp salad and others at the table had the shrimp special and chicken pesto pasta. My husband raved about the rack of lamb. Both the desserts were delicious.
We dined here twice during our vacation. The outside dinning is lovely and our waitress took pride in her service and guided us through our options. She overheard that I was torn between the salmon and Gluteen free pasta, and suggested I combine the two into a serving with a side of veggies.
My wife loved her meal as did our guests.
Fantastic in every way! Janda was our wonderful waitress and she was excellent. Always nearby but not hovering. The food is always authentic and delicious. I had the cannelloni which is my favorite dish here. So yummy and filled with great flavors. Highly recommend. Cindy had chicken picatta which she also loved. We had a wonderful lunch catching up with each other. Last time I met a client there for lunch we had a delicious Caesar salad with salmon on top that was also excellent. This is a great place to go for lunch as it is quiet and has a beautiful outside patio. Highly recommend!
We always love this place. The food and service are always outstanding. They have amazing specials and a great wine list. We always visit when we are in the San Diego area. The only complaint we had this time was that they are VERY dog friendly. Sadly, there was somewhat of an unruly dog while we were there this time - NOT AT ALL the fault of the restaurant. If you don't want to sit with the dogs, request inside seating. Otherwise, we love it and will continue to come back!
This is a repeat visit and as impressed the second time as the first. Many chefs destroy delicate fish like trout by overlooking or seasoning but mine was perfect. The salads were fresh and beautiful and the other guests all enjoyed a variety of pasta dishes and wine.
The menu, from appetizers and salads to the main courses, was creative and offered a wide selection of combinations of flavors and ingredients. The presentations were attractive and appetizing and portions were substantial- most of us took one leftovers from the main course plates. Nothing was greasy or heavy and the use of spices on the fish and in the traditional italian dishes was varied, creative, and delicious. I would easily return for dinner any day of the week. The service was fast, but not hurried, and the price was well in line with the quality and portion. We went for Mother's Day. Each plate at our table of 5 was as yummy and beautiful as the next.
I used to go to Firenze's quite a lot - it was good food, reasonable price but that changed - the prices went up so stopped going. Decided since it was a special occasion, we would try it again and we were disappointed. The waitress ignored us instead was overly generous to bigger groups, but did finally wait on us. the Zita was pretty good but the Egg Plant parmesean was awful - ate maybe 4 bites and brought the rest home and into the trash. The lava cake was good and rather expensive. I will not go back.
Our favorite "go-to" for Mother's Day and in warm weather, patio dining. Always top notch service without hovering; the food is always consistently delicious. Where else can you enjoy a leisurely Mother's Day meal, lingering for two hours and not get pushed out the door?
