Firenze Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. We wanted a quiet restaurant, excellent food, and attentive service that didn't intrude on our intimate dinner. We decided to try Firenze in Encinitas, although we hadn't been there before. It was the perfect choice of all counts. I ordered the lasagne Firenze as my entree, while my wife selected the lobster ravoli, and both were exellent. This restaurant is now at the top of our "special occasion" list.
The atmosphere, the help, the ambiance is all Wonderful! There are many reastaurants that are plasticy and pretentious. Firenze is just plain elegant and welcoming with the right touch of sophistication!
The food was EXTRORDINARY. Coming from Los Angeles, I find it hard to find restaurants that are equal to those in LA but this certainly does and is one of my favorites.
We had dinner at Firenze after a wine tasting around the conner at Mertiage. I recommend the combination! We were there late, so the restaurant was relatively empty. The ambiance was wonderful the wait staff knowledgable and attentive. All of our food was delicious, but the table voted that our favorite of the 4 dishes we ordered was the Matrimonio de Mare - shrimp and scallops over risotto. It was divine. We will definitely be back!
I have been here 4 times and the last two times I had the Firenze Lasagna which has both red and white sauce. I'm not one to order lasagna at restaurants but this is by far the best lasagna I have ever tasted. I go to this place just for that one dish. We also had the Calamari app and it was good but nothing special, I've had the same dish at other places. Me and my boyfriend also split a mediocre Tiramisu. The ambiance is OKAY, typical "Encinitas Elite" older crowd with a nice stench of smug in the air. It's small, dark, and seating is a little crowded. The service was good, the wait staff were knowledgeable and courteous. If not for the lasagna I'd probably rate this place a 3... maybe 4.
Overall we enjoyed the Dinner as the food was great. Our reservation was at 6:30 pm on Saturday. It was very busy and people waiting to be seated. The hostess was not at the front desk for several minutes and finally was very quick to seat us. The dinning room area was not comfortable due to too many tables in the space. Would have preferred to sit in the bar area but was not asked. Our waitress was very friendly and did what she could to accomadate many tables. We would return perhaps on a week night.
Trattoria was great! There was a group of 5 of us celebrating a friends birthday. Everything on the menu looked amazing so we ended up ordering a couple of salads and four entrees. We ate "family style," which included everything from a delicious steak to the most amazing lasagna! Unbelievable!! Also, we were very pleases to find that all bottles of wine on Mondays are half off!
I liked the overall ambience, but maybe I didn't order the right thing...it was a pasta dish with artichokes, and it wasn't tasty. The artichokes were hard, and it was very bland. I would go back and order something different. My companion had the salmon, which was fine.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and the food, service was great. Prices on entrees were to be expected for this type of restaraunt in the area, but the strange thing was that the appetizers and wine (per glass)were overpriced. The overall dining experience was a nice way to end the work week and start the weekend.
This is the first time for us to visit this restaurant. From looking at the place, it looks like seating for lunch / early dinner during the warmer months would really be nice. The food was really good - loved the freshness of the green beans and the Italian food (eggplant parmesan and veal) was very tasty too.I was not choose to do the chocolate lava cake, as I was disappointed that there was no chocolate oozing out of the cake - hence the term lava cake. The berries and whip cream were a good touch to really a chocolate cake.
Great food. Requested a booth for date night. Got the booth but was seated next to a large, loud party. Was hoping for some quiet, intimate conversation, but it was too loud. Restaurant could have had a large party section and an intimate party section but for some reason, didn't go that way. Romantic...not so much. Great food...yes. Good service...not so much. Waiter didn't really get when we needed attention and when we didn't. Had to request new waiter. Wanted dinner recommendations and didn't get it until we were matched with a new waitress.
I really enjoyed the food. However, we had a 7 o'clock reservation on Valentine's Day and didn't end up getting seated until 8.... seems like poor form considering that the reservation was made a week in advance AND confirmed that day. I'll probably go back but not for a special occasion.
A surprizingly extensive menu and wine list. All wines were half price - a very pleasant surprise. The price of most dishes seems high. However, this is offset by their size. They are very generous, boardering on too large. The pasta dishes could easily serve two people. The wait staff was VERY attentive if a bit inexperienced. Each dish was very well presented, delicious, and not overly salted or spiced. One minor flaw, and it was indeed minor, was the pasta itself. It was either slightly undercooked or sat too long. Although flavorful, both pasta dishes clumped together in a slightly gummy mass. A bigger issue for us was the food being more Americanized than truly authentic Italian. Overall, a nice dinner and a place we'd recommend.
