Our food was incredible, so fresh and delicious. The liver mouse was a portion large enough for 4, but there were only 2 of us. The oysters were succulent, tender firm and the vignettes finely crafted. Our server was wonderful, a good blend of attentive and humorous. The eggplant and scallops used seasonal vegetables in a memorable and savory style. Chocolate pudding, wine and cocktails were all very pleasing. Some tables are less private than others.
I absolutely love this place! My husband and I try to go as often as possible. Their drinks (esp. wines) are always amazing, their food is perfection and their service, by far, is outstanding!!
Lunch was just before noon, so we were only a handful present in the restaurant. I had the special of the day: Tuna Tacos, and they were delectible. It was a chilly overcast day, so the server suggested a Rioja to 'warm things up'. It was a perfect pairing. We could have sat there all day and chatted as the vibe was so homey, welcoming and warm. Love this place for lunch, dinner or drinks. Always a fabulous experience.
I love Firebox and have been dining here, periodically, for over ten years. Food is always fresh, mostly locally sourced, and the restaurant's philosophy and ethos should be the paradigm for more establishments. I recognize that good food is costly, but Firebox' prices are pretty lofty, even for locally sourced fare. That's really my only complaint....and that there aren't more places in the Hartford/West Hartford area with this ambiance, quality, and philosophy.
Great food, great service overall job well done!
The food was wonderful, the waitress was helpful and friendly. The ambience was lovely. I would go back again in a heartbeat but not with anyone who has hearing issues. The restaurant has nothing to dampen the ambient noise making it difficult to hear, especially if you have any hearing problems.
Excellent, excellent, excellent!!
Fabulous experience and we will be back
Firebox is a terrific restaurant ... great food, wine list, craft cocktails, and a convenient location if you're heading to the Bushnell Theater. Our server was attentive without being intrusive - perfect. and on top of all of that, the business model is admirable. Well done to everyone involved in this quality restaurant.
This little hidden gem was well worth the experience! Prior to attending a performance at The Bushnell, we were looking for a quality meal in a short amount of time in order to make the performance and one that was close to the theater. This restaurant hit it out if the park! The bar was roomy, yet cozy and started hopping by 5:30pm. The drinks had a unique twist and service at our table was great, friendly and efficient. We then moved into the dining room for our reservation and were seated away from other diners, against a wall, which we had requested as a “quiet table” and weren’t disappointed. Although the restaurant quickly filled to capacity, it was a quiet atmosphere with excellent service by Justin. We each ordered something different and weren’t disappointed. The food was quickly presented, nicely plated and the tastes stayed separate so you could taste each layer. Delicious! Don’t pass up the Brussels sprouts for a table appetizer....plenty for 4 people and a wonderful glaze to dip bread in as well. This restaurant is an 8 minute walk from the theater in a mixed residential area. Nicely appointed and a great overall experience. I only wish it was closer to home....we traveled in from the Berkshires, but would certainly go back and spend more time there. PS...we did make our performance with plenty of time to spare!
Really delicious dinner and cool ambiance! Very nice for a special occasion
Rare date night with my hubby, had an excellent meal, service, atmosphere, everything! Will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Way too much garlic in the meatballs for me :0#
Outstanding service, menu, and quality of meal. Thanks!
After loving this for years, had a very disappointing visit. Brunch on Easter Sunday - greeted at the desk and confirmed our reservation for 4. She quickly told us that our whole party wasn't there yet, hinting we wouldn't be seated yet - we were all there. Then she took a phone call and left us in limbo. Another person stepped in and proceeded to lead us to a high top table in the bar - we had made this reservation a month in advance for Easter. I asked to be seated at a normal dining table, so we were told to go to the bar while they cleaned a table. Seated shortly after. Service was spotty - my drink was forgotten for a while, food not delivered to everyone at once (awkward), and once we indicated we wouldn't have dessert, we weren't even offered coffee - after brunch? Really? It was an uncharacteristic visit, but I'm not sure I'll go back. I've had so many nice dinners there, maybe Sunday brunch is just not the same. Ouch.
The food was really really really good! The wait staff was courteous and attentive with great recommendations. The Bacon was sinful.
Great Easter brunch, meal, service, would recommend this to anyone and will come again
We are new to the area and tried Firebox for a date night/early birthday celebration. Food was great and service was great. Highly recommend. We will be back.
Excellent food and service. Waiter was knowable and helpful making choices. Our second visit and we will definitely be back.
Fun contemporary atmosphere. The server offered helpful advice on our choices. Delicious cocktails! The hummus of the day was a tasty starter. Portion sizes were generous—easy to share a main course or bring home enough for lunch.
Had mentioned in reservation that we were celebrating a 60th birthday. No acknowledgement of the occasion of any kind. Bought out 3 of 4 entrees and we waited and waited. We got the attention of a server and had to ask where the 4th entree was. 4 squares of bread No refills offered Very disappointed. Won’t return
My favorite place in Hartford
Best salmon I've ever had. Great quality food, with complex flavors. Really good, always a favorite.
What a gem to find on Broad St in Hartford. Amazing space, great bar and menus. I was there for brunch and loved it! I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Great atmosphere and concept. Salmon dish was blan needed aome acidity to go with it. The Duck was to die for. Overall tho worth ot great experience I will be going back.
Amazing food, great service, delicious drinks and all with an effort to give back to the community and the people who live there and may need an extra chance. Well done!
Cocktails were clean. Every flavor shined throughout the meal. Wine selection was top notch!
Great Sunday brunch! Food, service, décor and Bloody Mary's were all outstanding.
My first time there...top notch from drinks to dessert and coffee. Friendly staff, cool setting and fabulous fresh food. 5 star.
Loved the whole vibe of this place! Inside was awesome- not only supporting local farms but also local artists! Love this place will be back again very soon!
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. Wait staff was excellent. Food was excellent. Ambiance was casual but very pleasant. The only negative comment is that it was a little pricey. We will definitely go back and bring our out of town friends
It was amazing again! Our server was kind, took our orders and kept the waters filled. He just wasn’t quite as knowledgeable about drinks or the menu as our first experience with a different waitress but he did a good job. We really enjoy the restaurant, mission, atmosphere and food. I put it out on social media after our first experience just how impressed we were and have at least 50 interested friends and a few commented they will be heading there soon for their own date night!
One of my very favorite restaurants in CT. I drive an hour to go there.
Sat at a high table in the bar area. Really comfortable experience. I ordered a salad with salmon off the Tavern menu while my wife enjoyed duck from the Dinner menu. Food was excellent, service was on point, the noise level was minimal. We then walked to the Bushnell for a great show. Highly recommend!
Great meal and ambiance
Firebox is one of my favorites. Food is always excellent. Adult beverages: supurb. Service excellent. This time a party of 4, early Sunday evening. Sat in the bar area which was fine, not very busy. I enjoyed the Ravioli entree. Very flavorful, colorful. Friend had Salmon which he said was perfect. Great spot
Had so much fun at Firebox on Friday night. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We had several small plates and a few big. The duck was spectacular - so full of flavor. The brussel sprouts were a hit as was the tartar. Definitely a great spot if you are in Hartford
Beautiful modern rustic setting, hidden gem with delicious farm to table dishes that make a great environment for a warming family dinner or an intimate date night!
This is the second time we have been to the restaurant and once again we had a great experience!
The restaurant, and everything about it, was fantastic. What was an epic fail was the way Open Table handle the points for payment. I have never been so embarrassed by a situation as I was that evening. OT needs to rethink their process. Thank goodness the management at the restaurant was patient and understanding.
My party and I all agreed we would all come back here. The food was amazing and the service was great!
