Food was delicious! We had the scallops and lamb. Oysters and Kale Cesar as appetizers. All I have to say is, AMAZING! Will definitely be back for more!
When the rear dining room is full, table conversation becomes difficult ( noise level is high) until food is served -- when folks are eating it is quieter...
It was the perfect place to celebrate my dad’s birthday with our family!
We were 2 couples going out to eat prior to an evening at Hartford Stage. We are season subscribers and are always looking for an interesting dining experience. Our server was very attentive and asked early if we were going to Hartford Stage and wanted to be leaving by 7pm. We agreed and she managed our meal as promised. The parsnip soup was unique and quite delicious. The Organic Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist inside - delicious. Everything was inspired by its combination of local ingredients and well presented. We will return!
Had birthday brunch with my 20 year old son. Delicious food, the hummus sampler was delish and the shrimp and grits was heavenly. Service was a tad slow however the food made up for it.
Good company and fabulous food = A Firebox date
We had a lovely brunch before a show at the Bushnell. Staff made sure were relaxed but out with enough time to get to our seats!!
The food was delicious as always!
Always love this restaurant. Brunch food amazing and always great service. Will be back without doubt
Food was excellent. Waiter made a great wine recommendation. Table was just a bit too close to the people at the adjacent one.
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent convenient parking a big plus. Fresh and creatively prepared ingredients. Beautiful ambiance.
We arrived after a concert on a Sunday evening. Prices expensive. Had burger and salty fries. Margarita was good. Lovely ambiance, nice and quiet for evening out with friends.
Delicious ingredients locally sourced and presented beautifully, entrees and apps were excellent!!!! Had the bone barrow, oysters, duck, and ribeye for dinner. Dessert was delicious- chocolate pudding was amazing and the apple bread pudding was plated beautifully but was more like something I could put together at home but, still it was executed very well like the rest of the meal. Great ambiance, very intimate. From what I could see, there were 3 separate rooms for dining, one appeared to have room dividers for private parties. Love the building architecture and decor. Service was nothing to write home about, they were attentive enough but not outstanding, and certainly were not overly attentive or annoying. Very neutral, not complaining at all. Prices were what you would expect.
We had a reservation for 2 for my birthday dinner. We live in Hartford, so we walked to the restaurant. Good table service. Great farm to table quality food. Large portions. We had the duck and the pork chop and parsnip soup, which were all excellent.
Great ambience, though, the room is loud and echoes: could use some sound dampening in the ceilings.
The only downside was for some reason the hostess and maitre'd took 15 minutes to seat 2 couples ahead of us and left us standing at the front door for a long time for no reason without ever talking to us. This was quite annoying because there were tables available: he just took his time leaving us standing there. It was weird.
Our main course of double cut pork chop and ribeye were excellent. The starter of mussels was undercooked with some shells remaining closed. Our server was good, but over taxed. For the cost of this meal, we expected more efficient service.
great date night out with the wife. stunning menu made the choice difficult. great service and friendly staff. the pre-theater discount was a nice bonus . we will be back and i already recommended it to my boss!
Friends and a show
Absolutely love this place! Locally sourced ingredients make all the difference in the world. A bit on the pricey side, but I'm more than willing to pay extra because I know where it is coming from. Fabulous cocktails make the meal. Bravo, Firebox!
Very pleased with our first visit to Firebox. We had a light meal of a salad and mussels, and both are worth going back for! It was surprisingly quiet in the restaurant, but not too quiet, and the lighting made the space feel cozy. Great wine list, too! Definitely going back.
The cocktails were superb. The food we received was fresh and flavorful with just a couple minor critiques. The baked oysters were overdone and the ribeye steak, although very tasty, was full of gristle. But overall very good and we would return.
Really enjoyed the experience. Great food and atmosphere!
The food and service was impeccable. The duck was cooked beautifully; the best I’ve ever had.
Our entrees were very good (lamb bolognese, salmon and sea scallops ). We got the seafood bisque appetizer, which was basically a glorified tomato bisque. We were surprised that the restaurant did not offer bread before the meal. Prices were somewhat high for the meals offered. The chocolate pudding dessert was light on the pudding, and heavy on the whipped cream. Overall, good, but a few things could be improved.
Dinng at Firehouse was my intro to Hartford's restaurant scene. Early dinning before Public Forum. Great food & service. Appreciate parking lot, too ...!
One of the best meals I have had in the state of CT. Everything was excellent from service to food. Restaurant is clean, warm and spacious.
Its's my "go to" restaurant whenever I'm working at the legislature. The food never disappoints - fresh, perfectly prepared, creative. This place is restorative!
LOVE this place - menu is creative; food is delicious. Love the ambiance, service was good, drinks were good - love the bacon salt on the bloody mary. Will go back again and again.
Great place for brunch. Food was excellent as was service. Great appetizers with cheese plate and hummus. All brunch mains were excellent. How can you go wrong with waffles and gelato? Drinks were excellent as were desserts.
Bonus in that it Seems like the majority of food is locally sourced.
Will definitely go back to try out their dinner offerings.
Our first, but not our last visit to Firebox. The Kale salad was tender, fresh, and nicely seasoned. I would pass on the marrow bone -- too salty. Server informed me that it is "brined" but the marrow should be featured, not overpowered with seasoning. The organic chicken and the salmon entre were both moist and tasty. Nicely presented. The service was attentive and accommodating . Very friendly but not intrusive. We passed on dessert. Will definitely return,
Outsatanding! Bre was both our bartender and server and she was exceptional!
Food was fantastic! Loved the Brussel sprouts! It was very loud in the dining room though. Hard to hear each other.
The entrees were very good. There was a problem with the mussels. They were soggy - like eating an oyster out of a mussel shell. Several shells not open. Maybe undercooked? Too bad because broth was good.
Great place to build rapport over a business lunch-
Great eclectic menu - and well executed food on every level. Really interesting cocktail menu. Bone Marrow is lightsout good. Salmon had perfectly crispy skin but perfectly medium inside. Fun atmosphere
What a wonderful place. The food is excellent. Our server was magic, she knew when we needed her, and stayed out of the way until we did. And the food - we had 3 diners with allergies, gluten and dairy, and they not only accommodated our diets, but the food was incredible!
Firebox never fails to deliver great food and service. Always accommodating, Chris our serve worked with the kitchen to make some small changes to firebox favorites to allow guest in our party enjoy the food despite their dietary restrictions! Thanks to Chris and the kitchen team.
Firebox always provides great food in an inviting low key atmosphere.
Who knew Hartford had such a happening food scene? Firebox was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had! We came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday all the way from Boston because we were in town for an exhibit at the Wadsworth. We started with the oysters, cheese plate, and soup of the day, all of which were wonderful. I had the duck and my boyfriend had the lamb bolognese and both were PHENOMENAL. Their cocktails were also on point. We had the carrot cake for dessert and decided that we would make the drive back to eat there again in a heartbeat (and are planning to do so soon!).
Brunch here was excellent! Firebox always has a good mix of standard and vegetarian fare. Their Eggs Benny (w/applewood bacon) were perfect and a new favorite of mine.
Make a reservation (but if the weather is bad you may be able to get in for brunch without one).
The Firebox never ever disappoints. The food & drinks are amazing. The music & ambience was great.
