We keep returning to Firebox because it always pleases. Most recently three of us enjoyed a pre-Bushnell Broadway Series meal and drinks. Excellent waitress too.
Despite enjoying the Kitchen at BillingsForge often, this was my 1st visit to Firebox. Very happy to finally get there. Food very good. Portion on the Adolf burger was very skimpy - all bread, itty bitty sausage. We had 2 salmon dinners which were the better choice. Falafel had good reviews too. Appetizers brussel sprouts, brie fruit compote - excellent.
Our server was wonderful but she had too many tables. She knew her menu exceptionally and was proactive making sure we understood items.
We'll be back.
Our Valentine’s Day date
The new lobster platter was sweet & succulent and the filet was wonderful as always. Our server was great ! She was attentive and helped with all our questions - even with the bourbon / whiskey ending.
Outstanding as always!
Fantastic dinner and amazing service!
Wonderful food and service! The biscuits and thyme butter were a surprise favorite. Also enjoyed the black pepper gnocchi and baked Camembert for starters. The cast iron duck with goat cheese polenta was amazing!
The menu is always fresh and different. The atmosphere is contemporary. Excellent wine menu.
Wonderful Food. Wonderful Service. I will definitely return and try something new every time.
Valentine’s Day. It was our second time there. Just as great as the first. Good service excellent food
Felt rushed during meal. Food was OK. A little cold.
This is our 3rd experience at Firebox. It has become our favorite restaurant for a special evening together. The chef and culinary staff are amazing. The focus is on locally sourced, fresh ingredients. And the end result is spectacular. This visit, we dined on duck, pork shank and halibut. Every meal was outstanding. Our waitstaff member was excellent. She took great care of us throughout the evening. The only challenge w/ Firebox is related to background noise. If you have an issue w/ this, if possible, ask to be reseated to a quieter location. Other than this issue, everything was perfect.
Really great spot for any occasion but brunch there this past Sunday could not have been better.
The quality of our chicken and biscuit brunch as well as dessert, was wonderful. We had a great time.
Obviously the restaurant was understaffed because our service was terrible. We waited an hour and a half for our dinner which was overcooked. Our waitress never asked us how are dinner was or offered to go boxes. She should have noticed our meals were not eaten (because our chicken was overcooked). We were there for almost 2 hours and she stopped by our table 4 times. Bummer because I was looking forward to a nice dinner out with my 2 daughters.
Engagement dinner for my daughter...very good food & very attentive service. Did not know the valet parking was $10 beforehand. That should have been posted. Many of the Hartford restaurants have complimentary valet parking.
Delicious food and excellent service!
The ambiance and the food were Fantastic! Everything we ordered was great. We will be back!!
Enjoyed it all!
Truly wonderful place. After a brief period where they were not as good, they're back to they're old self. Spectacular, interesting food.
Great as always
Enthusiastic wait staff, delicious food, great drinks, loved the valet service
Our party of 7 took part in the Taste of Hartford event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The noise level was very comfortable, making for easy conversation. There's a very urban feel to the dining room. The food is very fresh and we particularly enjoyed the salmon, ravioli and mushroom bisque.
The parking lot is small so unless you get there early or can find a spot on the street, just be prepared for a $10 valet fee.
I will definitely be returning!
Food is excellent and the service equally as good. Very pleasant ambience for one to dine on any occasion
Went here for date night with my boyfriend. The food was amazing and our server was very nice. The only negative things I would say would be that parking is hard to get if you don’t want to valet and the restaurant isn’t in the best neighborhood so I didn’t feel all that safe walking over. The restaurant was VERY loud and we found it hard to talk/hear each other. Other than that the service was great and the food was delicious! I would definitely return... and maybe use the valet.
Great food and atmosphere. I had the roasted chicken which was delicious. Also tried the wings as an appetizer which was pretty good also. Overall great spot!
one of our favorite Hartford restaurants. We have been there multiple times and have never been disappointed. The server was excellent - attentive, friendly, and helpful. High recommend the pork shank and duck. And the Brussel sprouts are a must every time.
It was the winter 2020 Taste of Hartford, and the choices on that menu all sounded very appealing. Between the 4 of us, we tried 2 of them, and all of us were very happy with our choices. Great flavor combinations; the salmon on soba noodles with harissa was delicious. Just the right kick. The deep dark chocolate pudding was superb. We were in a comfortable booth, and though the restaurant was busy the noise level was surprisingly low... always appreciated! The space is so attractive too in its rustic, urban-chic way. Wonderful!
Nice evening before a show at Hartford Stage.
Went during Taste if Hartford. Our group ordered from the special price fixe menu and all enjoyed the delicious meals.
Another great visit and Jen is a fabulous waitress. Great food and mission of support to the neighborhood.
Everything about our experience was terrific. We got there early and the kitchen was OT yet open; however they seated us and gave us coffee. Waiter was patient with my million questions. Food was nicely presented and delicious. The atmosphere of the room we were in (front room) was relaxing and open. A real plus was that even when it filled up, it was not noisy! Hats off to the designer. We were visiting with my brother from out of town and never felt rushed.
Second visit here before going to Bushnell and I enjoyed a memorable dish. This special really was, featuring 5 freshly seared sweet scallops served over al dente flavorful roasted fingerling potatoes, carrots, asparagus and cauliflower. There was a drizzle of a sauce that complimented the scallops and veggies. This dish is one I would order again. My companion ordered this entree as well. We both had 2 glasses of wine to complete our dinner. No bread was served. Only negative is the tap water tasted of chlorine and wish they would use a filter. The server was friendly and attentive.
Food and Ambience: excellent. Valet parking for $10, especially when my wife and I took separate cars: not so excellent.
Service and food were fantastic! We will definitely be back!
Firebox is always good; I have never had a disappointing meal there. And we keep going back!
The service, Scallops, cocktails and Bolognese where outstanding.
The cocktails were inventive and delsiouse.
The only gripe I would have is with the ribeye. It was very very thin and slightly over cooked.
(I mean slightly) For $40 I expected thick and juicy.
The butter they put on the steak was delicious... I put it on the Scallops and the veggies...
I would definitely return, and just stay clear of the steak...
It was a great experience, was made very comfortable and the service, food and atmosphere exceeded our expectations. Would most definitely be returning.
This was our second visit, the first visit the fool was exceptional. That's what we were expecting and did not get it this time. FOod wasn't bad but our expectations were great. Other aspects were good, service, ambience, etc all good.
Delicious food and awesome service! I will be back!
The food was delicious and I’ve been wanting to go here for a long time so I was very excited. The big disappointment is that our food took a long time. We had a 6pm table and were served at 720. We also weren’t offered any sort of explanation, which was surprising.
Hopefully it’s a rare occurrence, but something to improve upon!
