I don’t know how the kitchen prepares their French Dip sandwich but now I’m sure the meat comes directly from the freezer. Our sandwich was cold, not tepid. Cold. This is the second time this happened. The cheeseburger was nothing special. Food took a long time for a Tues at 6pm. Waitress was nice. Not coming back.
Grilled salmon and mushrooms were delicious.
Great visit as always, Ben is an amazing server. The food came out fresh and hot, with the steak au poivre and the chili rubbed del monico as our favorites. Oh and of course, tater totts! Temperature was perfect, especially after coming in from the chilly outside, we had a great view of the cooking fire and the lighting is impeccable. Ben was very attentive, stopped by the table several times checking to make sure things were great and grabbing refills. We will definitely be back, and recommend to everyone we know to visit. We didn't have an opportunity to grab dessert after cleaning our plates, but we'll try to next visit!
In general I've always enjoyed my meals at Firebirds but unfortunately my most recent visit was quite disappointing. Tried the Grilled Tenderloin Salad for the first time - what is described as "mixed greens" on the menu turned out to be just iceberg lettuce. A few slices of beef on a huge bed of chopped lettuce with some diced tomatoes is not much of a salad. The service and cocktails were great but I won't be ordering this salad again.
Great for lunchtime. Good food, reasonable value and nice service.
My birthday dinner! Very enjoyable and good food. Only suggestion would be to dim the lighting over the booths where we sat for more ambiance. The brightness and glare were a bit too much.
Night and day difference from the prior evening to last night.
The food was perfect, the service was great and the Christmas decor in the Town Center created a great ambience.
Arrived at 7pm, ordered at 7:30pm, food came at 8:30pm. Waitress was very slow and our table noticed she spent all her time talking to coworkers with hands on her hips. She took one drink order at a time and second round came about 45 mins later (which we loaded up for fear of not seeing her again) Ordered MW ribeye and it came out looking like asphalt. Sent it back and requested the salmon instead (I’ll save my steak fetishes for Eddie Merlot’s). Wife ordered the cilantro-grilled chicken (was lukewarm and over-cooked). Onion rings were very good though. Overall, not the most horrible place I’ve eaten, but it was enough to make me frown. I may go back when they are a bit less-crowded to see if the food comes out better.
Service was great. Had a small mishap in one order but was fixed very quickly.
Great meal and beer, the run around about a medium rare 12 oz prime rib not being available and then asking for the 16 oz as an option. At this point, we have no medium rare prime rib though advertised and on the menu find a bit disconcerting. At most restaurants, the wait staff tells the customers during the introduction specials and what you're out of, atypical for this chain as I'm to a few in various states and never ran into this issue.
Firebirds has gone down since opening. We have been many times. This time, the waitress spilled our wine while trying to poor it. My wife’s chicken was so dry and over cooked that it was inedible. Her chicken was also cold. The bread was stale. We were very disappointed in the entire experience. We will not go back.
Firebird's Grill is a chain that acts like a local only restaurant. I've eaten in NJ plus other Virginia locations, all are consistent on the entree, always have a good wine selection that's acceptable for most. They are also extremely generous, their annual Veteran's Day treatment for Veterans is another reason they continue to earn my loyalty. Well done.
Firebirds' menu has lots of choices that look great, but almost without exception we end up ordering the prime rib. It's a house specialty, and is just awesome. There's very little fat, and it's served at exactly the temperature you order. My wife prefers an end cut with lots of spices, and they're always very accommodating. We've paid twice as much for a cut that's not nearly as good. Although prime rib is a "while it lasts" item, Firebirds has only run out once in all the times we've been there. Comes with a choice of side -- we usually go for the loaded baked potato, but all of the options are good. It's hard to fight off the urge for their desserts, especially the Key Lime Pie in the summer months.
They can get pretty busy, especially on weekend nights, so best to make reservations via OpenTable. There is also outdoor patio seating when the weather is decent. Overall, one of our favorite places - highly recommended.
The food was fabulous--best grilled salmon and grilled chicken I've ever tasted!
The broccoli was done to perfection--not too crisp, not too soggy, tasted great!
They have Chateau St. Michelle Reisling--on par with any Reisling I had in Germany.
The server was fantastic, helpful, friendly, and seemed like a real person--no scripts!
Food, service and ambiance is outstanding.
The appreciation of Veterans service was so thoughtful.
Food is always good but service was really bad. We waited way too long for drinks, ordering and receiving food. We are frequent visitors and usually no problem but this time was not enjoyable, ruined our evening with friends :-(
Food took a really long time even though they weren't that busy. Food was good, but nothing special, or worth returning for. When i made the reservation i noted we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. No one acknowledged it, hostess or server, in any way. Very disappointed!
Great experience as usual. Staff and food is excellent.
Had a great evening with family at the restaurant. Food was very very good. Not my first time but will definitely go back again!
Quick seating, friendly service, BEST dessert ever (ooey gooey pumpkin cake)!
the casear salad dressing was so strong salad I was not able to eat it, the crab cake had no crab meat just all filler. The lobster tail was raw in the middle and steak was overcooked
I love Firebirds, I’ve lived in the Va area for 5 years and it’s my go to spot. I had the ribs, excellent choice, they were delicious.
Great ribs and salad. Skip the ribeye steak; it was 3/8 inch thick, filled with gristle. I’ve had better at Denny’s as steak and egg breakfast or when ordering hanger steaks.
Slow service, overpriced, and average food. Salad is extra for a dinner entre.
We celebrated my Dad's birthday at Firebirds over the weekend. We have eaten here many times before and had really enjoyed our dining experiences. However our past two visits (this one included) the food has really gone downhill. My Dad was highly dissatisfied with his steak, it was not seasoned well and was not cooked as ordered (Rare). My sister ordered salmon which she indicated was overcooked and dry. Others that ordered steak were dissatisfied as well. When the waitress checked on us (once) she asked how things were and my dad brought up the issues with his dish which went unacknowledged and unaddressed. We waited to speak to a manager but were never given the opportunity. My family will not be returning after having two bad experienced back-to-back.
Very good food with great service. Atmosphere is nice - busy but not excessively loud.
Great experience as always! Thanks!
Had lunch with my Mom and a friend. Two of us had the Delmonico steak sandwich with steak fries which was good (chose to remove the bun and just ate the steak and fries). Iced tea very good. Service friendly and excellent. When a shrimp dish was unexpectedly a little spicy for my Mom, they kindly had it remade without the spice. The white chocolate mousse dessert had a little weird grainy texture but was still good, and its fruit and nut topping really really good. Overall positive experience, we had a good time!
Third is our second time dining here. We love the food selections and the atmosphere is conducive to dining.
The chili rubbed salmon was very good but as I suggested to the manager when he came up to say hello was it could be a better dish if they served it with pasta rather than with the garlic mashed potatoes it came with. It comes with 2 rich sauces so that is too much of richness in one plate.
Overall great experience. Good place for meetings or family gatherings. We'll definitely be back.
Date was exceptional. 😊
Waiter seems to be fairly new and was learning his timing on how much time to give you to decide what to order. He also had too much cologne on, which really was a bit offensive for a place that serves food and that already smelled great. When he came on the scene his cologne was so overpowering you couldn’t help but cover your nose.
Firebirds never disappoints. The service was very good, friendly and prompt. The food was good. Thanks to our waitress for honestly answering our question and letting us know that they tend to undercook their meat a little. We ordered our filets Medium and they came out a perfect Medium Rare. Great happy hour and usually pretty lively...not always great for conversation, but always a great meal with good service.
Good food, good service! Steak was cooked to perfection and amazing. Only 2 minor complaints. 1) very limited beer selection, and 2) a little noisier than we would have liked, but tolerable.
A favorite go to place for lunch or dinner. We take friends to Firebirds frequently. The ribs and prime rib or favorites. Frankie, the manager, his a great host.
Always a consistent meal. Good service and decent menu options.
The service was very good . Was recommended a $52 bottle wine That wasn’t that great . My husband had a salmon salad that he said was just OK . I had the fillet mignon special with crab meat . I got three small round balls of crabmeat and The steak was so salty That never mind the taste of a good steak all I tasted was the salt . Only ate 1/3 of it and was up drinking water all night long . I love salt but it was beyond salty . My husband and I don’t complain but it could’ve been a better dinner for our 22nd year anniversary .
Slow today. Normally must faster. Did not seem that busy.
Server was terrible. Asked for medium well and they brought me it but the middle was 85%rare. I dont recommend. Server said he was bringing us cake for friends birthday... well he did and CHARGED us for it. I didn't even ask for. Ake
Steak almost raw, ordered it mwdium well. Port mushrooms never received, ditto the sweetnwr for iced tea. Broccoli abarwly steamed. No follow up for coffee or additional drinks. Unfortunate. Been hwre several timea, continues to go downhill.
