Fire Tower Restaurant & Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The food was extremely rich for our taste. We felt rushed after ordering. Samll plates were filling, there was really nor need to order a main. We ended ordering three entrees. The bill was extremely high. Food is overpriced, there were better choices on the mountain.
Thank you awesome staff! We were in a rush to get there by kitchen closing, coming up on a Sunday night from NYC for some Monday skiing. They let us phone in our order ahead so that we wouldn't miss the kitchen closing (which we would have by several minutes, leaving us dinnerless the night before skiing!) Thank goodness! And they were actually grateful to us for phoning it in so that they wouldn't be stuck there late (meaning that they would have tried to accommodate us even if we were late); the chef actually came out and said thank you to us for helping them close the kitchen on time, since they'd had a grueling weekend. With our food ordered, it arrived piping hot and wonderful at the table very soon after we sat down, we enjoyed it thoroughly (the Wiener schnitzel and the smoked chicken risotto, amazing and incredibly satisfying!) along with some mighty fine ales (ie. Zero Gravity Bonehead IPA, incredible), and were pleased to find out that the dessert kitchen remained open past closing, so that we could tack on a relaxed dessert and coffee. We never felt rushed at all, and indeed we were the ones eager to move things along and get to sleep. Great food, lovely service all the way, and cozy warm on a bitter night. They set us up wonderfully for some high-energy skiing the next morning. Thank you!
Fire Tower has become one of my go-to spots since moving to the Stratton area last summer. It's a great place to meet up with friends at the bar or to have dinner. Each time I've been, I haven't been disappointed. I haven't tried many of the items on the menu, as I especially enjoy the Firecracker Shrimp and the flatbreads. This past weekend, when dining with friends, their Cider-Glazed Scallops and chevre salad also got rave reviews. It's very relaxing to sit outside in the summer; it can get a bit noisy indoors on weekends in the winter.
food and service was excellent. enjoyed a couple of cocktails and the salad which is always fantastic.
flatbreads were cooked well and tasty. Peter took care of us as our last experience was not up to par. he kept his promise and we enjoyed our meal. we will come back again. fav on the mountain.
Delish! We were there on a ski weekend/my husband's birthday dinner and it was yummy. The service was excellent. We shared an appetizer and had the veal and roasted chicken risotto. Everything was really good. We had cocktails as well and I even had a drink named after a Phish song which was a great nod to VT! We will be back!
We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail in the bar - and moved outside once a prime spot by the outside fire pit opened up. Cozy! Once inside,Chrissy was a gracious server. She gave us helpful suggestions and was accommodating. Impeccable service. Perfectly cooked steak and duck. We wished we lived closer (pres Day week skiing) but we are looking forward to our return to skiing at Stratton NEXT year just so we can eat here!
This is one of the very few restaurants at Stratton that takes reservations, which makes it consistently busy. Having a reservation for dinner, especially on a busy weekend is critical.
The service and ambiance was fine.
The food was a mixed bag: the ahi tuna nachos--a specialty--was great and the vegetable pot stickers were also good for appetizers. The stuffed halibut main was way over cooked and dry. The scallops were also over done and not flavorful.
Overall, an average experience, where the convenience (of reservations) and service where overshadowed by mediocre food.
Firetower has nice setting and is cozy. Service is good. Servers are attentive.
I ordered flat bread pizza as i often do. This time I ordered the americano. Unfortunately the crust was soggy and mushy. Sauce was tasty but on top of soggy crust was disappointing.
While the place has good ambience, decent food and generally favorable service, they had plenty of space in the separate dining room but jammed us into a crowded area near the bar that was very tight, and the noise level was ridiculous. Couldn't even have a conversation. Put a damper on what would have been an otherwise good experience.
Firetower is fine, nothing to write home about. The food is solid if you stick to the basics. The menu can be a bit to adventurous for it's own good. I had a reservation and they sat us in the bar area which was very loud and chaotic. Next time I will insist that we be sat in the main dining room. Stratton Mountain Village needs more resturant choices..... a little more competition and all the resturants will have to improve.
I am so thankful that Fire Tower continues to deliver quality food. While still pricey (as is pretty much every Stratton Village restaurant), at least the good is very good to great with wonderful and interesting options. Without fail it's my go-to Stratton Village restaurant!
I enjoyed dinner with my husband and our 2 boys, ages 5 and 8, on a Saturday night on a day after skiing at Stratton. Parking is limited so plan to arrive early and walk from the garage (5-10 minutes). If the parking near the restaurant is full you would need to take a shuttle from a remote parking lot. We were early, so we walked around the little village area shopping while waiting for our reservation. Outside there are several chairs with fire pits around them to sit at while you wait.
We heard the hostess turning away people who did not have reservations even though there were empty tables because it was too close to the scheduled reservation times. I thought it was good that they were preserving the tables for the reservations, rather than seating as many people as they could squeeze in between reservations.
The dining area was large but felt cozy with wooden beams in the ceiling, which gave it a nice sort of "Vermonty" ambience.
My husband said the scallops were among the best he's ever had, and I really enjoyed the sirloin chili for an appetizer. My husband enjoyed the lobster pasta, and my salmon was served beautifully on top of a bed of jicama slaw with a delicious veggie burger. My boys had cheese pizza and the kids cheeseburger, and both seemed very happy. I did not have any but was told the home made rolls are delicious and served piping hot with butter. The menu was not very large but everything we ordered was fantastic, with decent portions for the price.
The service was generally pretty good, but I did wait a while (I would guess over 10 minutes) to be able to order a second glass of wine. Otherwise, we had very friendly and helpful service. I would not hesitate to recommend eating at Fire Tower and hope to return again soon!
Undercooked elk, understand it should be rare but this was almost inedible. Waitress checked back 2-3 times in 90 minutes. Didnt see her until 20 mins after entrees arrived, too late to order a glass of wine which i mentioned when we sat down as to avoid this. Host never made eye contact, smiled, nothing. Ignored us for a few mins before finally seating us next to the door, plenty of seating elsewhere. Not heading back anytime soon.
