Fire and Ice is always great. This time was no different. I wasn’t thrilled about where they insisted to seat us. Against a pole in the middle of the place. I marked it was a date, they could have given us a booth or at least out of the way where people weren’t constantly tripping over us. Also they couldn’t figure out how to get the open table tab to work - not a big deal.
First time going, great place, great people, great food. Just go its worth it!
This is a fun restaurant where you get to shop for your ingredients. The crowd trends younger and the noise level can be very high.
Good fun loud
Food was great, date was great, drinks were a little pricey. Other than that, it was an awesome dinner
I never miss a visit to Fire + Ice when traveling to Boston. I was a bit disappointed to find out that the Cambridge location had closed in late 2016 - that was my usual destination for a Fire + Ice visit and meal. So this location at Berkeley and St. James is what we have in the Northeast. This location is pretty large, and seems to easily accommodate the usual Friday Night crowd. There are two identical pasta/vegetable/meat areas to facilitate getting your bowl filled quickly, with a crew (there were 5 on a Friday) to cook and deliver the cooked goods. Seemed pretty efficient to me. They had tilapia and salmon, which were my favorites. Somehow I missed the shrimp, though.
Service was great. Our 9yr old enjoyed his first time eating here.
Great food but the continuous stream of cold air blowing on us throughout the meal was annoying and uncomfortable.
We went here on Monday (college-student-night $10.99 p.p.), it was a bit loud and hip for the two of us, but overall it was enjoyable: a good variety of food although we did miss the non-shaved beef, fast cooking, we really liked the idea of a central round grill/plate, food was served fast, some chefs even gave a bit of a show. The cocktails were okay and reasonably priced, but I've had better. Service was quite nice too, although while removing plates, sauce was spilled all over my side of the table and my seat, which I had to clean up myself. Overall, good experience for the price ($10.99 p.p.).
So good as always! Despite being very crowded the line moved super fast!
If we ever go back it definitely will not be on a Saturday at 5:30. The cooks rushed the food, none of the veggies were cooked, and the steak was hard. Clearly they were overwhelmed, the food wasnt on the grill as long as it usually is. Tge sauce was thrown on, leaving it watery. Waitress screwed up the drink I ordered, and when I asked to return it for a different one (which I never do unless it’s horrible) she argued it with me. None of it was gone, it wasn’t drinkable, there was no need for that. Not to mention she never cleared any plates and we had to track her down for the check. This was a birthday dinner, wish we went somewhere else.
The concept is interesting, but I was really worried about hygiene and cleanliness. You get a bowl and fill it with raw ingredients you want to eat, everything from vegetables, grains, meats, seafood and spices. Then you pick a sauce, take it to a common cooktop. I was really worried about the handling of raw meat; utensils you had to use to grab the meat were touching the raw meat. I washed my hands in the restroom after handling, but did everyone else? Everything is on ice, but how long has it been sitting there, especially the seafood? While the cooktop was cleaned appropriately between meals, they cook so many meals at the same time that all of us in our party always had ingredients that were not our selections, but mixed with the people food cooked adjacent to us. Kind of gross. Also, the floors were dirty and the bathroom was disgusting with toilet paper everywhere and there was no paper towels or dryer for your hands. The food tasted good, but really felt unhealthy eating there! Our waitress was hard to track down. Our cocktails tasted like medicine. It was incredibly loud on a Sat at 4:30 pm dinner reservation! I really wonder what it would be like at more prime time. We will not return.
The restaurant is rundown and in need of a good cleaning / refurbishment. The service was awful!!! The waiter disappeared - never cleaned off our table and we waited way too long for the check. The concept is fun but during flu season better sanitation measures should be taken. I witnessed several people sneezing and sniffling into their hands, not using sanitizer and grabbing serving utensils. Very gross!!
Wasn’t very pleased to find out when we showed up for our reservation that the student discount was not available on the certain Monday we went. Would have loved to have known this beforehand as it was a friends birthday and we ended up not eating due to the prices and was left without a birthday dinner. Quite disappointed in the communication
I was a guest at your restaurant yesterday, Monday 2/19 (President’s Day), and unfortunately feel as if my party and I were mistreated. As a group of college students, we rarely go out to eat as we are all tight on money, but it was our friend’s birthday and we wanted to go somewhere affordable and fun to celebrate and your restaurant, seemed like a good option with advertised $10.99 college nights.
When we got to the restaurant, we were not informed of any pricing changes due to the holiday and proceeded to dine here, something we would not have done if we had known there was a pricing difference. We were not informed of the price until the end of our visit. The changes weren’t posted online, or on the menu or anywhere as a matter of fact.
At the end of our meal when we went to pay, we mentioned we were college students and our server told us the discount did not apply because it was a holiday bringing the meal out to be over double the price we were expecting, which is a crazy and unacceptable discrepancy. Having no other choice, we payed full price and left. We were quite shocked and upset and the unexpected check truly put a weight on our evening.
We would have been able to move past this, but upon coming home, we found out that our friends who were dining there to celebrate a different birthday on the same night, had received the discount, meaning on the same night we payed over $10 more for the same exact meal.
This deceit is entirely unprofessional and has lead my party to not want to dine at your restaurant anymore as a result. I really wish we had a different experience as we did enjoy the food.
My boyfriend and I are from Maine and we don’t have anything like this around here. We have Hibachi grills but that’s not the same. Fire and Ice is super fun- however, they closed at 10, and our reservation was at 9:30pm. For 21.50 a person, we didn’t get the value that we would have gotten if our reservation were earlier. I feel like if they are going to charge that much but close everything down 30 min after, then they shouldn’t allow reservations after a certain time. We ended up paying 60+ bucks but not being able to utilize the “all you can eat” experience, and we were only able to get one drink each because they were closing, and we didn’t get desert because by the time we were done our rushed meal they had packed the ice cream bar up. So I felt like it was just a wasted trip and it was my Boyfriends first time there, and he was less than impressed. Luckily, I’ve been there a few times and reassured him that next time we would go earlier and it would be better!
Had a reservation for 545 I wasn’t sat until 615. It was my sons birthday I asked to be sat away from the grill considering he is two and our table was literally right next to the grill. Disappointed as I often come here and recommend the place to others frequently.
Good time. Nice change to traditional restaurants.
Perfect for picky eaters because you get to choose what you make. Everything was delicious.
The food was great. We did have to wait for about 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. That was frustrating because there was nowhere to sit and my grandparents were struggling standing for that long. Then the server was not very attentive. Would ask if anyone wanted refills and would walk away before the whole table could answer. It was also difficult to get the bill corrected as she didn’t know the policy on ages for children’s meals.
Liked the whole style of getting your own ingredients.
A friends dietary restrictions of Vegan were ownered as well, was really happy for it.
Overall our experience was ok. It was heavily packed with people. The tables barely had enough room to move. Very cramped. The food was ok. Because of the amount of people. I believe the cooks rushed through cooking the food. Potatoes were hard. Meat not completely cooked through. Etc. the waitresses busted their arses. Kudos go to them for their hustle with trying to keep up with the large crowd. I would recommend any first timers to this location go on a night when it isn’t as busy as Friday night was.
Place looks pretty nice always super lively, the food is fantastic and the experience makes it even better. Love going to eat there.
Noise level would have been good had the music not been so loud. Everyone was talking over the music which made the dining experience feel rushed. The table service was VERY slow and it wasn't even the peak hours yet as the restaurant appeared to be only about 1/2 full for most of our time there (it was almost full with a wait downstairs by the time we left however).
It was a great time! My best friends first time there and she’s already trying to go back. Everyone was friendly and the food was tasty..
The food is always fresh and delicious here. There were lots of people there that night so it was pretty packed. It's a pretty upbeat place and the variety is great. Our server was very busy but he was still awesome and gave amazing service with a smile. The guys cooking the food, super-impressed with how great they are! We don't come into the city often so this was a treat for us. The music was blasting a bit too loudly but the music itself was actually really good. Great Time!
Gotta love the food, but don't plan on having a conversation because it is a lively atmosphere. I wish there was a Fire and Ice in NH. I love this restaurant!!!
The reservation is terrible for small parties on friday and Saturday you still wait 15 plus minutes at least and I had my grandson with me 5yrs old standing for more then 25mins with a reservation that I made online and called it in also
Food was great, service was great! Very unique atmosphere and fun! Definitely go there hungry. Price was reasonable
While there was nothing glaringly wrong with our visit I just wasn't impressed with this place. My 15 year old daughter picked it for her birthday. She and her friends all loved it. My husband and I not so much. Food was just ok and ambiance is seriously lacking. Not the cleanest place either.
Booked reservation and still had to wait an hour to be seated. Very bad for business. I will not be coming here again.
Was disappointed that Fire and Ice got rid of their birthday ice cream, was trying to surprise a friend for her birthday and it wasn't very until I asked another waitress that I found out they discounted the birthday ice cream (my waitress didn't say that to me). My waitress was also difficult to flag down to remove plates and receive the. Heck, but overall had a good time.
The wait staff was courteous and attentive, the cooks provided the usual outstanding show as they worked their way around the cooking surface, a fun place to eat.
Dinner is too costly compared to the lunch price.
Fire & Ice is always good for a fresh, healthy meal. I most enjoy the fact that one can chose the items you want to have for dinner and not be locked into a set menu. I always have something different each time I dine there. And the option of going back for more if you're still hungry is awesome.
We brought the kids and they had a great time making their own meal and watching it be cooked on the grill. It kept them very happy since it was so interactive. And our waitress was GREAT with the kids!
The price as a bit high, which could be expected. But the quality of food wasn't so great. I've been there on 3 occasions and it was great. But this time, the food looked horrible that I myself didn't really want to eat. I lost my appetite before it was even cooked.
