Established in 1984., Finn Maccool's has been recently renovated and transformed from what was an Irish public house restaurant To what feels more of an upscale Hamptons type atmosphere. The restaurant and bar once decorated in a typical dark manor has been replaced with a light interior, stylish light fixtures, white granite stone U-Shaped bar, and plush seating. The bar is wrapped with bar stools and plenty of high top seating and booths. The main dining area has also been updated with bright fabrics and Celtic artwork.
Finn Maccool's has an extensive menu comprising of a diverse range of burgers & sandwiches, pizzas, appetizers, and salads. The newly designed bar offers a variety of draft beers, featuring 5 from right here on Long Island. The happy hour spans from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
It was really nice! I've never been to Finn MacCool's. The service; drinks and food were all excellent!
First time back since they re-opened and was very happy. Good food, good atmosphere, live music. I will definitely go back.
First and probably last visit unfortunately, overpriced, incorrectly prepared burgers, calamari appetizer was rubbery. Website advertised multiple local beers, waiter said no, only one. Def. Not worthy of the $100 bill for family of 4.
Loving it with the fresh renovations. Food is excellent and so is the service.
Met with longtime friends that have not seen each other in a while and the staff never rushed us .It was a great place for lunch and catching up.We will go back.
Unfortunately, our waiter barely checked on us. It was annoying as we couldn't order easily.
Great place to meet friends and family. Recently renovated. Irish pub for grown-ups. Good food. Great value. Got the seared ahi tuna appetizer, very good. Fish and chips also good, although my friends version seemed a bit off. Can’t go wrong with a hamburger or Sheppard’s Pie. Salmon and branzino also good.
Nicely redone after fire. Good for burger and beer. Do not get the fish.
Always a great meal at Finn's. Food is delicious and there is a great selection of beers on tap.
Easter dinner which should have been a nice night out but was ruined by this Terrible experience. The restaurant was not crowded yet they put us in a room with a large party going on. They then moved us to a small crowded table. We finally got moved to a booth where we were completely ignored for over 20 minutes. The waitstaff were busy talking in the back by the kitchen and not waiting on the customers. We got up because we had enough of this nonsense and as we were leaving the hostess asked if we enjoyed our meal. Seriously the water was delicious. They made no attempt to apologize or at least acknowledge they dropped the ball. Very disappointed not the place it used to be. We ended up at Louie’s and had great service and a fantastic meal.
Load and very young crowd. Great Guinness. Good food. Loved the cashel blue salad.
Great local restaurant. Reasonable good food and service
Great local place
We loved this place. We went for St. Patrick's Day and had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Irish music on the side was the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend.
Nice restaurant for families. Appetizers were good. Entrees were good; nothing to, "write home," about. Servers were great. There were Irish step dancers for St Patrick's Day.
The food and service at Finn McCool's was excellent. Not outstanding but excellent! The service was a little slow but it was a busy time so that was to be expected. I ordered the calamari appetizer which was really delicate and perfectly done. I also ordered the porterhouse pork chop ( which wasn't a porterhouse cut) what was none the less perfectly done. Not large portions but ample enough. It came with a small side of Brussel sprouts and roasted potatoes, again ample but not a large portion. All very well done. My fiance got the shrimp and capellini and was very tasty. That portion was okay as well. Another friend of mine got the shepherd's pie which according to her was okay but not outstanding or anything special. All in all it still wasn't wonderful experience worth the four stars not the five. I would definitely go back.
Great local place for a burger and drinks. Good service.
Great local place for a burger or drink
The food was good and the service was very good even on Valentine's Day. Will definitely come again .
It has been years since last visit. Place looks really good. The compliment ends here. Started off with a shrimp cocktail. They looked mutant - super big. The best part was the size. Did not taste good - did not have a good crisp texture. Disappointment. Next had a burger- not very memorable either. What made it worse was a long strand of hair also occupying the plate. Shame on me I said nothing - but after seeing it and not being fond of the shrimp I just let it go. Not coming back here anytime soon. Can't find a reason to so.
Dinner with friends. Fun night and accommodated our dietary changes to menu items without question.
Nice dinner and ambiance. THe shrimp crab cakes were delicious but the salad with it small for an entre.
The morn more I come to Finn McCool's for dinner, The more I like it. :)
I used to come here when I was in my 20s and was expecting it to be at best a quick bite and nostalgic. I was instead pleasantly surprised. The whole place was bright but cozy and definately bustling. We were seated in a booth next to the kitchen and the saxophone player (he was good and not at all too loud.). We were quickly greeted and gave our drink and appetizer orders. We waited a min. amount of time for those to arrive and the waiter took our dinner orders (prime rib x2). While we waited we enjoyed the atmosphere. The place was full (we were there at 6:30 on a Sat) but it was nicely spaced. The food arrived after about 10 minutes. When ut arrived I asked for butter and steak knives. We ended up asking the manager who got it to our table which is no big deal but just a mention.
The food was really good. My husband felt his was rarer than he asked for but he still enjoyed it. We will be back!
So disappointed... Always come for the Cesar Salad and am never disappointed. This salad must have sat in the fridge for a week.
Great neighborhood place - People quickly get to know your likes - Try really hard to accommodate all your needs.
Saturday night they have an incredible SAX player who really reads the atmosphere and knows exactly what to play.
Bar scene is on point with regulars and soon to be regulars.
Food selection is appealing to all types - anywhere from a burger to prime ribs.
Personally we love the onion soup, stuffed shrimp, turkey burger and a few other specialties.
Special orders don't upset them
Try Finns - you wont be sorry
The burger was great, as was the fish and chips. The third member of our party went with the daily special (Prime Rib) and really enjoyed it.
Got to the restaurant and was greeted by the hostess dressed as a witch. When I looked around all the staff were wearing costumes. I know it is Halloween and I can be as festive as anyone but I didn’t appreciate it while dining. I had heard the restaurant had been made more upscale compared to what it had been but the unprofessional appearance of the staff set the tone of the evening. The staff spent most of the time admiring each other’s costumes taking away from the attentiveness they should have given their tables. The prices of the food on the menu were a bit more than anticipated for a “bar” type menu. The food itself was ok but nothing to write home about. I will not be returning anytime soon. Bottom line: If you want to be bar be a bar. If you want to be something more than that then do that! But decided what you want to be!
Exceptional service. Stayed at the bar for dinner after having a cocktail as it was such a great vibe. Tom, the bartender was professional, attentive and welcoming. It is clearly a neighborhood gathering spot as Tom (and the evening shift of bartenders) seemed to know most of the clientele by name. Food was excellent as well (crab cakes recommended by a regular at the bar were outstanding). Came to Port for a show but would definitely return just to go to Finn's.
Great food, ambiance and wonderful service....as always.
Table too small not enough room for plates glasses etc. place mats too big and interfere with playes
Lunch with a friend was comfortable, casual, and tasty. Good friendly service. No complaints.
Decent sized menu offerings. Food is just "OK". Prices border on upscale. Servers appeared inattentive and repeatedly didn't listen. Not sure it's a language issue or just poor training. Would return, but not anytime soon.
Food and service good. Lorna is the best. She is attentive and knows just what to do
Good neighborhood place to rst
We had a great lunch. We were 6 people and we all ordered something different. Everyone loved their lunch. The service was great. As always. The atmosphere is relaxing . We weren't rushed and enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends.
Excellent comfort food for traditional palates and gourmet items for foodies. Lovely setting. Great value!!!
My family frequents Finn's and everyone always enjoys it. Food is excellent, great atmosphere n a good value. Highy recommend!
Pleasant surprise. We had not been there for years but we found a completely renovated restaurant - clean, good food and service.
My husband and I went for a quiet dinner last Saturday. We were very happy with our meal and our service.
