Finley's of Green Street
Excellent service & lovely ambiance. We ate outside on the patio. It was quiet, peaceful & relaxing. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and accommodating to dietary needs of our party.
Thank you! We're glad you had a great experience with us!
The brunch used to be much better. The eggs Benedict were sitting too long and the bread was very hard to cut and difficult to eat. The bacon was all over cooked There was only a few pieces of fried chicken. The fruit was with out taste. The biscuits were cooked too long so they were dry and hard. The waffles were very good as was the lox
The Easter Buffet Brunch was very good. Nice selection of food.
Thank you so much! We're glad you had a great time with us!
Should have noted restaurant was closed..seating only available in bar area
The service was substandard. The fish & Chips was so-so and nothing to write home about. Overall not going there again.
We went there to see a band that we enjoy and decided to go to dinner in the restaurant before the band went on. We had never been there before and found it very good. Nice quite dining room away from the bar area, good food and friendly service.
Thank you for the wonderful review, Linda!
Good drinks, burgers and fish & chips. What good pub food is supposed to be.
St Patrick’s Day Parade Brunch. Got to restaurant at the 1pm and did not get food until after 2pm. Understood it was busy, but for eggs shouldn’t be that much I’d think. We saw everyone get served before us. Waitress did not check up on us much. Had to ask twice (as it got closer to 2pm) the status of our food. Nonetheless the food was great. Portion size just right. Will def go again for brunch, hopefully with better service.
Hi! Thanks for joining us for our St. Patrick’s Day Brunch! We’re glad you enjoyed the food and we do hope you’ll give us another try in the future so you could have a true Finley’s experience with us!
I made a reservation two months ago for a party of 14 for brunch. It took an hour and a half for our food to come out and it was ice cold when it did. Food was bland. I was very confused as to why it took so long to make eggs? Will not be going back here again. So disappointed!
The food is not like it used to be. So disappointed. I ordered jambalaya rice with shrimps, it tasted like box rice for $25. My daughter ordered a chicken sandwich; it was super dry. The pineapple martini was literally pineapple juice with vodka not even a slice of fresh pineapple. Raspberry pudding was horrible. Regular pudding with raspberry on the side. The vanilla ice cream was the best thing we had. And Overpriced for no reason!
Hi, Belle! We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed in your visit with us. We always aim to deliver delicious food and drinks to our guests and we do hope you’ll give us another shot in the future so you can see what Finley’s is really all about!
Food and Service were good as always. Will return again.
Thank you! We can't wait to have you back again soon!
This was the first time we went since the changeover frm Storyville. Knew something was wrong when there was only 1 other couple there at 7 PM on Valentine's Day. Food was okay, service was maybe the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. With literally nobody else in the restaurant, the waitress screwed up all 3 courses and was nowhere to be found to fix her errors. We won't be back
Hi, Peter! We’re sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us during your last visit. We always aim to deliver fantastic service to our guests and we do hope you’ll give us another shot in the future so we can show you what the Finley’s experience is really all about!
We got there and restaurant was closed. Only bar open. No table service all winter. Guy there was surprised open table had them listed.
Disappointed would be an understatement-having enjoyed brunch at Finley’s a year ago on my birthday, which in my view was among the best meals I’ve had on Long Island. I. decided to try dinner there, knowing I could catch a band as well afterward so made a Friday night reservation at 7. We were literally the only ones in the dining room. This was a little odd but we thought it was nice to have the place to ourselves. After we ordered our Waitress returned and told us that chef advised that clams should be avoided as new delivery did not seem up to par. Which we thought was nice, but then scampi that we ordered instead was awful, it tasted like shrimp with lobster sauce from an average Chinese restaurant. Piece of fish was crispy and taste was respectable but overall portion/presentation was small/unimpressive. Dessert lava cake with whipped cream and ice cream was also mediocre. I don’t like to give bad reviews but I can’t see ever choosing this place again with 15 other places in walking distance to try. I am now unsure that I should even return for weekend brunch as with the name change it seems like there were big changes in the kitchen too and for me this is no longer a great restaurant in Huntington. They did have the decency to not charge us for the bad scampi and even comped us on dessert but the two rounds of drinks and one entree still cost me $70. Oh well.
I went there with two friends and all three of us loved our meal. It was easy to make the reservation using Open Table. we were there at 6:30pm and at 8pm there was a band playing by the bar. We spent a while watching the band and having some great conversation
Thank you so much! We're so glad you had a wonderful time with us!
1st time having tried the new menu and it was Restaurant Week. Everything was delicious and such large portions, even during a special event. Will definitely return in the very near future.
Thank you! We can't wait to have you back!
We heard about this 'new' restaurant with a respected chef, all in all disappointed.
We ate at 5:30, no one else in room. Lobster without roll was good & my burger was tasty as was the fried calamari. It still does not have plain LI fish! I was hoping for a fish restaurant like those on Emmons Ave in Sheephead Bay. It still has the same fish you can get in any Hunt Rest. Go for a burger & and forget the fish.
Wow, very surprised by Finley's. We had the ceviche (delicious), and the lobster rolls (outstanding). It was not too crowded for lunch. Our server was sweet and full of good recommendations. We really loved Finley's and will definitely go again. You should go too!
Sunday brunch- no reservation was needed. Not too much action. Service was great and so was the meal. Food portion was generous. I would go back, but maybe for dinner next time
We were surprised that the place was pretty empty on a Friday night. By the end of the meal we weren’t. Our service was slow, so we asked the server to bring out everything when it was ready since we did t have a lot of time. We got our appetizers and dinners before the tables on either side of us got any food, even though they had been there before us. The food was blah. Nothing special, wings lacked flavor. It’s a shame - I’ve been coming to the various restaurants in this locations for over 30 years, but I don’t expect to be back while it’s still Finley’s Seafood.
Additional note - drive by Saturday night and it was again empty.
We had decided to try the new Finley's Seafood on a Friday night. It was pretty empty for a weekend. Wait service was slow, but the bus service was excellent. The fresh hot bread was tasty, if we only had table settings to butter the bread. The meal was served, and we waited another 5 minutes to get utensils and napkins. I was disappointed with my wasabi encrusted tuna, which was well done. The cook made an effort to fix this while buying one of our drinks for us. We will not return while it is Finley's Seafood. We had enjoyed many good meals there when it was Storyville.... I miss that Jambalaya and the Bananas Foster.
We had dinner with a group of cousins. The food and service was excellent and moderately priced. Unfortunately, as we were paying the bill I became ill and they had to call for an ambulence. The staff and other patrons were very supportive as I had almost passed out and couldn't lift my head and ended up in the emergency room. Fortunately it turned out to be nothing serious.
I want to thank the staff and especially the group from the table next to us that came to my assistance.
The management bought a round of drinks for everyone as a thank you for their help.
I would highly recommend Finley's for the food, price and especially the attentive staff and mangement.
Really mediocre - out of several things on the menu. Disappointed in blandness of the food.
Overall, good experience. Went for Father's Day Brunch late so it was relatively quiet yet still a lot of good. Gluten-free desserts would have been good.
The food was just ok. My husband had the fish and chips and the potatoes were cold and soggy. Asked for a new bunch and came out very late with steak fries. I had the tuna and it was well done even though I asked for medium rare. Service was slow and disjointed. We don't have plans to go back. Disappointing
After waiting an hour and a half for our entree we decided to leave. The service was poor and what we did have, the mussels, was merely okay. Needless to say we won’t we returning.
Lovely outdoor dining area. Waited a long time for first course as there was just one server for entire patio area. She was lovely but over extended. Food was good...will try again.
Disappointed in the selection of sea food (not many options).
Went for Mothers day brunch 6 adults 2 babies. The buffet was so poorly planned, which was very disappointing considering they do brunch every weekend. We waited 30 minutes on the line to get a waffle or omelette. They crammed the entire buffet into a small section of the restaurant. They had one person making omelets and one making waffles, that was it. The line was in front of the other food so no one knew to just go over and eat that or I would have never waited. By the time you got your food and sat it was cold, plus the waffles weren't fully cooked because they were clearly stressed to get them made for people. We ended up not being able to eat together as a family. For my sister and I it was our first mothers day. My husband and I had been here twice before for dinner which is such a shame because the food was good. In the end we paid $35 per person for 1 plate each because no one wanted to wait on line for that long again. I hope next year they get it together so others celebrating will have a better experience.
New chef ha brought a great menu and approach.
All I can say is, what happened to this place?! This has been our favorite Friday dining spot for years (Garvin's to Finley's to Rockfish to Storyville, and now Finley's Seafood). We had become discouraged by the mediocre pre-cooked offerings at Storyville but were excited last summer by the new chef who breathed life into the Louisiana-style dishes and added some twists of his own. We especially loved the new desserts. The entrees were fresh and zippy. Recently, I received an email from Finley's (not Storyville) saying that Huntington is finally getting the seafood restaurant it deserves so we quickly booked a table for Friday night. When we walked through the restaurant to our favorite seating out back I was assailed by the stale fishy odor in the restaurant bar - not a good sign. The typical happy hour crowd was missing, the few diners were subdued, the place looked tired and dusty and there was no music playing, giving the vibe of a place on its way out. When we opened the menu we immediately saw that the menu for "the seafood restaurant that Huntington deserves" consisted of a few fish dishes from the old menu that did not include my Storyville favorite, fried catfish. Oh well. Instead, my husband and I decided to try the fish and chips since neither of us had liked the plank salmon we'd had on prior occasions. A few minutes later the waitress came back to apologize and say that they were out of fish and chips. Annoyed, we decided to finish our drinks and go - until I noticed that the few diners appeared to have burgers and fries. I asked about it and was told there was also a (secret?) pub menu. We ordered burgers and fries, asked for the fries to be well done, and received mediocre burgers with underdone, cool fries (which we did not bother sending back). No adjustment made to the bill at all, no offer of dessert for our trouble, but since we didn't complain I guess no one realized we were unhappy. Sad to say, not sure we'll be going back. Too bad.
Very disappointed the service and food was not up to par, it’s all like bar food and no service
Great! Outside seating was fabulous - food excellent!
We were very excited to have a new seafood restaurant in town. We were sad that Storyville closed but were happy it was a seafood place.
Waitress and hostess were very, very nice. But the poor waitress had way too many tables to attend to. She clearly had experience but just couldn’t keep up. Service was very slow. And it was Restaurant Week!
Our table had an old door stop and a plastic bag shoved under one of the legs to keep it from wobbling. Felt a little shoddy for the prices you pay at a restaurant like this.
Calamari had nice flavor and was nice and hot and tender - but it was way oversalted. Crab cake appetizer was just sort of thrown on the plate - nothing special. Shrimp ceviche was good but again not presented nicely. My red snapper was so over cooked it was dry and cold. The vanilla butter rum sauce was very good though.
It was restaurant week so we chose dessert because it was included - but they were out of our choice. Disappointing.
Service was way too slow.
Bathroom was absolutely filthy.
All in all, they have lot to fix if they want to survive in a competitive restaurant environment like Huntington Village.
I will not be back. Clearly they were not ready to open, as they didn't even have enough menus for a room that was only 25% full. They brought us one biscuit for 3 people, ran out of biscuits at the beginning of the night. The crab cakes were cold on this inside, fried on the outside and they were not lump meat. My John Dory was cooked but lacked seasoning; although the sauce had potential there was zero wow factor and the additional ingredients of the main course were totally off: tomatoes were mushy, edamame were hard and potatoes were under-cooked. My bread pudding was cold and obviously taken out of a fridge or freezer but they took no time to warm it up. Also, my wine was nothing special. My friends' food was not good either: steak over cooked and snapper full of bones. I found nothing redeeming about the meal. The 2 waitresses were working hard. I feel bad for them having to struggle with bringing out mediocre food and deal with the customers. The place has potential, but I am not chancing another bad meal when there are so many other tried and true great places to go in town.
We went to Findley’s seafood for restaurant week. The bread/muffins were delicious as were the appetizers... shrimp cerviche and calamari. Entrees were filling and ample in size, very tast and desserts bakery quality. Waitstaff was lovely. Good time!!
It was Restaurant Week and the menu was limited because of this, but we had plenty to chose from compared to other places. Our family of 4 had all different entrees and we all raved about our dishes. The music was great and the setting was lovely. We will definitely return!
The food was great as usual. Looking forward to see what Chef Meehan has to offer.
The last time we went for brunch, there was Alaskan King Crab legs that were to die for. This time there was snow crab legs - not worth the effort. The last time there was a basket of fresh homemade breads. This time there were bagels and Italian bread - not nearly as delicious. Last time our mimosas were in a wine glasses. This time it was in a champagne glasses. The last time I ordered a ham & cheese omelet and it was perfect. This time I ordered the same. I got a well done cheese omelet without the ham. The last time there was prime rib and warm broth. This time there was prime rib and no warm broth. The crock pot was clean and empty like someone forgot to fill it. We asked if they had warm broth and the cook said no. Overall, it was far less worth the money this time. We did express our disappointment to the hostess but she said they change up the menu all the time. Does this mean the next time will be better or worse? We were rather disappointed on Sunday.
