We absolutely love fine and rare! It’s such a great atmosphere and has an awesome vibe! I highly recommend coming here for live jazz, food and drinks. I think the food is slightly overpriced but it is delicious!
The 28 layer chocolate cake was the end of a very delicious meal. The cheese board was spectacular. The live jazz was enjoyable. The reminder call was appreciated.
I love this restaurant and the live music schedule with Brian Newman.
Great food and great music.
The food and drinks were fabulous! We loved the fire place and the beautiful jazz band. Ambiance was fantastic. Only thing I would say could be better was the timing of the food- we got our appetizers before our first drinks. We decided to put our courses in one at a time that way we could space it out and enjoy. If you want to stay a while and enjoy the experience I would take your time ordering.
Great place .. love the live band
Perfect, especially the Band and the music they played.
Overall a great experience. The only weakness was that the corn spoon bread under my seared scallops entree was not warm enough. My companion had the same issue with his mashed potatoes. Beautiful space, great service, real attention to the spirits, including stunning visual presentation of my Oaxacan drink, and live music. The trio the particular evening we were there was a real winner with us due to our unique history - 1920s jazz with a nod to Coney Island.
All good except the music was terrible
A bit top high the tip.
Limitated wine list.
Everything about this place was unbelievable!!! We arrived a pretty early (8:45 for a 9:30) and assumed we could sit at the bar. The restaurant was so accomodating and actually let us sit early. We had the pre-fixe menu for NYE and everything we ate was INCREDIBLE!!! Our server was super attentive, sweet, and incredibly helpful. The restaurant was amazing and super wonderful and my boyfriend and I cannot wait to go back. This will be our new favorite spot.
Amazing!! Will definitely be back!
Fantastic way to ring in the new year! Excellent
Absolutely phenomenal place for a dinner with friends or business associates. The food and service are fantastic. The decor is reminiscent of a bygone era and Cait and the Critters were simply phenomenal!! We are so looking forward to our next visit. A true unique NYC find!
Amazing Christmas Day dinner, set menu was so tasty and the cocktails were insanely good! Jazz band were really cool and the staff were so accommodating and friendly! Definitely recommend here!
We booked the Christmas Dinner that featured a
prix fixe menu and, although the band was delightful and the ambiance classy and festive, the food was just “okay”; not bad but nothing particularly memorable. Even more frustrating, we were disappointed to be rushed through the entire experience! We would have preferred to make an experience of it, ordering drinks to complement each course, savoring the dishes, etc. Instead, people kept trying to clear our plates before we had finished, dropping the next course before we had even taken a look at possible drink pairings. We finally gave up, inhaled our desserts and left to find a more relaxed place to have our post-dinner cocktails. All in all, we might come back for dinner some day but for a celebration, we would go someplace else.
We went to Fine & Rare (F&R) on Christmas Eve for a 9PM sitting. I have eaten at F&R many times before. The food was disappointing. The steak was overcooked and was sent back, the lamb was overcooked, and the bread pudding was like a brick- inedible. This was so disappointing. In the past, the food was great and well presented.
The ambience of F&R is lovely and it is one of my favorite spots in Midtown. The service was very attentive as usual, a definite highlight of the evening.
Now, let's talk about the music. It was a mixed bag. The pianist and sax player were good and seemed to be enjoying the gig. The vocalist left lots to be desired. She was outright rude to the others in the group, especially the pianist. During their solos, she would leave the stage to refill her thermos. It was apparent that they hadn't performed or rehearsed sufficiently. It wasn't until late in the second set before she finally acknowledged and introduced the musicians immediately followed by a pitch to sell her CDs. Argh!
As I am a fan of F&R, I am willing to give it another try. However, not on a holiday evening.
Horrible service & music.
To celebrate our anniversary, my fiancé and I purchased a three course dinner for two for Christmas Eve, and it was unfortunately not as good of an experience as we expected. My fiancé’s food came out cold, and my filet was well over cooked. A manager came by and gave me a free drink, so that was really nice of her. The desserts came, and neither of them really tasted like anything. On top of that, the event was advertised as a night with jazz Christmas music - yet the band that was playing, was playing what seemed to be Spanish music. I felt like I was in Mexico, not in New York on Christmas Eve. I never leave reviews, but I was just so disappointed. I’ve been here once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. But this event was just completely different and unexpected. So disappointed
Very tired because of a late arrival from Europe, we have much appreciated both food, service and music. We highly recommand Fine & Rare.
I have been to this restaurant before and I enjoy the Jazz and the food and the service. However last nights performance left much to be desired. There was an awful in incompetent singer singing through her nose and her performance was awful. The jazz band was OK
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Great food, music and ambience. Recommended for a special occasion or date nite. Will definitely return.
Fantastic place for a date, special occasion, or just to explore a wide range of extremely high quality spirits. 10/10 would recommend.
Food was delicious, but the portions were small. Not enough to be filling. Food was served quickly… too quickly. It felt like we were being rushed. Their variety of spirits and wines was very extensive, but prohibitively expensive for the average Joe. The live music and the ambience were the highlights of the evening.
Excellent environment. The menu accommodates pretty much all tastes and the beverage selection is broad enough to satisfy all types of thirst.
The staff friendly, professional and accommodating.
Also an excellent stage for visiting jazz bands.
Great food choices, small but adequate portions. Food was delicious. Service was outstanding, drinks were fabulous. Music was great and fitting to the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Excellent! From the drinks to the food! The service was excellent!
