Finbars of West Bay
The Executive Head Chef, Jens Folkel, has a wealth of experience in the kitchen and will be offering diners an exciting and modern menu which includes mouth-watering dishes inspired by British and Scandinavian cuisine.
Reserve a table inside the main restaurant and take in the breathtaking sunsets from the dual aspect floor-to-ceiling glass walls. There is also a large outside terrace where tables can be booked from noon until dusk (please note the terrace is not covered).
We are currently offering our A La Carte menu Monday-Saturday for lunch and dinner service, and our Roast menu on a Sunday. We hope to reintroduce our other menus very soon.
PLEASE NOTE when booking you will be given the choice to be seated inside the restaurant (Regular) or on the terrace (Outside). You will only be able to reserve one or the other.

Great pre lockdown 2.0 dinner. Looking forward to going back when we can
It was a bogof on burgers however we were offered the streak instead which was a nice surprise! Only concern was the trimmings with the meal which lacked plate appeal no mushrooms, Tom's etc... Salad was minimal. So could be improved as usually £24 for a steak meal each. Drinks OK and spectacular setting will be going again once lock down finishes
Had the tapas which was great value for money and a lovely selection of dishes. However it appeared that there were too many customers for the size of the venue during this pandemic...tables too close together which lost a bit of the intimacy when dining as a couple.
A rare find - superb location right on the sea-front with west-facing views combined with an imaginative menu that's a cut above the norm. Lovely to see (and eat!) smoked meal on a menu.
Thought food would be more flavoursome for such a limited menu, prawns on toast very bland . Also there was not much in the way of social distance between tables and no reminder to do track and trace . Lovely restaurant position for the summer.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is consistently excellent.
Only issue is can be a little loud . We had a rowdy table next to us that was swearing very loudly. This is not a venue issue but just watch where you sit .
Booked for an anniversary lunch and weren’t disappointed. First visit for us but we’ll definitely be back
Pros: Amazing food - two of us had the chicken dish and one had the ham hock. Both absolutely amazing. Two of us shared a crumble and was one of best ever had - perfect ratios of crumble to fruit.
Negs: most tables full for lunch which was great but did mean noise levels were pretty high.
No decaf coffee option
Definitely need to book to avoid disappointment and we’ll definitely be back.
Moderately priced but the food is more than worth the slightly higher prices you might pay elsewhere for a pub lunch but the quality is more than worth the extra couple of pounds each.
Not sure what else you would need - great service, exceptional food and a breathtaking location.
I can’t fault our visit. Everything was perfect! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Really look forward to coming back again soon.
Lovely cooked fish and chips, children well catered for with goujons and French fries, drink and ice cream for under £8. Very good value for money, staff and ambiance very pleasant.
Delicious food, felt safe re Covid, great service. Will definitely be returning.
Lovely food and great service.
Great value for money and friendly helpful staff!
The burgers were delicious, the best I have ever tasted as I would not normally choose a burger, but I had read good reviews and my son enjoys a burger so we chose that option. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the view of the bay was stunning, despite the rain!
The Tapas Tuesday deal is really good value. Great food at a really good price
Had the Chalk Stream Trout which was delicious. Gypsy Tart for desert which never had before and it was fabulous! Went for late lunch and enjoyed the views immensely and sat out for desert in the winter sun. Great staff and ok prices, probably amazing prices for location but then I have a certain budget hence OK prices for me.!
First time visit, will be back. Great food and friendly service.
One of the best Sunday roast ever .. staff were amazing.. will definitely be going back 😊
Fabulous meal as always at Finbars, the katsu scotch egg and burgers were amazing!! We took friends for the first time and they loved their first experience and plan to go back!
Lovely dinner experience - we missed the sunset as it was grey but the warm, friendly atmosphere made up for it. I had the best hake I’ve ever eaten, fresh and tender, and the trout looked lovely too - could only have wished for some similar quality food on the kids menu (and I know that’s not what most customers want)
The waiting staff went above and beyond - first by coming up to fetch us as we had a hard time finding the restaurant (hint: it’s in the cliff, look for Westbrook cafe sign, and the restaurant is right below!) Everyone was friendly and chatty but the service was quick and efficient! Definitely worth a visit...
Had this place recommended to us. We had dinner there. Slightly difficult to find as it is located below the cliff line and we went at night in the rain! A real find with delicious food and lovely friendly staff. Will definitely be going again when next in the area.
Fantastic meal with a fantastic view.
Already planning our next visit
We went to Finbars on a Friday and enjoyed the offer on the cod, with chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas. It was all beautiful, the fish and batter was melt in the mouth and the tartare sauce and mushy peas were homemade and very tasty. Beautiful views from the windows. We will go back again soon to try Tapas Tuesday or the a la carte menu, but we will be back as soon as the evenings are warmer and sit outside on the terrace.
Finbars is above the West Bay Cafe and has the most amazing views across the sea,
We had a lovely meal at Finbars, been highly recommended and didn't disappoint.
Enjoyed the burger and sea salt chunky chips! And two for the price of one great value.
it was lovely & will be going again, had the burgers on the deal & was very pleased.
6 people for lunch. 1 vegan burger. 1 veg burger. 2 beef burger. 1 chicken dinner 1 celeriac dinner.
And 1 strawberry cheesecake 2 winter mess
All delicious. Weather was overcast but still great to watch the tide roll in
Will be going again soon
The food was good but a little over priced for the amount. Chairs are hard&uncomfortable. I took a cushion to sit on. Floor corners by windows not clean! Waiters a little aloof for a seaside restaurant. Its not the Westend. Need to be more chatty.
Great location, food was lovely. Felt a little rushed but I don’t think that was intentional.
Been there three times, love it, first rate food and service. Love the location outside on a lovely sunny day is like being on holiday.
Food and service were excellent. Will defiantely come back but maybe in the summer to appreciate the views.x
Had a lovely meal however felt it was over priced and we were conscious that the next table sitting was quite close to us. The service however was fantastic.
Lovely evening with a friend
We enjoyed great food and all safety measures in place To give confidence
Staff lovely and helpful
Thank you
Had a nice meal good service. Good off BOGOF on the burgers. Just on criticism the chairs were too hard and very uncomfortable which was a great shame as it spoilt the experience. Would visit again in the summer for the grat viewz of the bay while eating. Hopefully by then they will change the chairs or add cushions. They definately need to do something
The food was nice, however for the cost I expected better. The service was great and I would return.
great food , lovely views , just a nice place to be.
Will definitely return! So much meat with the roast!
First visit to Finbars. Amazing view at low tide. The tables seemed far enough apart. The roast beef was excellent, as was the service. Will definitely return.
Second time at Finbars as good as first, visited with friends this time and had great evening.
Our first time at Finbars, and I'd been put off by hearing that the service wasn't too good in the first week of opening. Well, all I can say is they have made up for it! Really friendly and efficient service, and the food was delicious - my hake was just beautifully cooked, my husband said the same of his chicken. We sat at a table away from the window, but even in the dark of evening we could see it was a lovely view out to sea and the lights of Westgate and Margate. Now we can't wait to try it on a summer's evening when we can sit out on the balcony overlooking the sea!
Lovely food and friendly service i would definitely recommend visiting
