Fin & Filet
Great food and great service. The seafood Newburgh was out of this word! Would definitely recommend and would go back again!
This place reminds me of a classic European Bistro - where the owner and chef visit the tables, the servers are highly professional and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine. It is a true GEM in Reno.
Definitely a place to celebrate special occasions. Bring your adventurous spirit and try something you've never had before.
Amazing .. will recommend a and go again!
Love the foods offered here. The wine list is good as well.
Our table was near the gas fireplace which was extremely warm and the staff could not turn it down. One of our party had to step outside just to cool down. We brought wine and expected to pay corkage, however not $25 which was not mentioned to us. Typically pay $15 or $20 at most. Food was good for the most part, but the duck breast was cold when served, took another 10 minutes to get replacement. Seafood bake was quite tasty but some clams/mussels were just empty shells. Fish of the day was the best dish. Friendly service.
Everyone and everything was very nice! Service was great! We enjoyed our dinner date!
Lobster was a bit over done, but our waitress brought out a fresh tall without any hesitation. Pris fixe menu was very good. Not the best meal I've had in Reno, but very good and out waitress was exceptional. We'll be back.
Wild boar and Venison!!!!! What else could you want? The food has been amazing every time I've been here.
Sat right by the Kitchen, and we loved it! Watched two different groupos get up and move because of the open view of the kitchen. Ridiculous as we laughed at them walking away. Our blonde hair server was the bomb and always on it, the brotha who waits tables was also extremely hard working and polite.
We went here for our anniversary and it was fantastic! My wife had the salmon and I had the filet mignon. We had the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer. Magnificent! Her salmon was served over some delicious risotto, and my filet was perfectly cooked and one of the best I've had! We shared a fantastic creme brulee for desert. The service was over the top! We were the last patrons there since we were waiting for our UBER driver as they were closing up for the night. We went outside to wait for our ride. It was something like 20 degrees and snowing. The wait staff pulled up and even offered us a ride home! Our cab pulled up at the same time, so we took it but we couldn't have been more pleased that they wanted to make sure we got home okay. Talk about an amazing staff and great place to eat! Check it out!
Aside from our table being next to the door letting the cold in every time it was opened the evening was excellent. We had a birthday party next to use that didn’t have any consideration for others when it came to the noise level but their lack of manners isn’t indicative of the the rest of the clientele that nick. It is cozy with an excellent staff, can’t go wrong.
Great food and great service. My go-to place for special occasions and for pre-show dinner.
From the staff to the food. Excellent all the way around. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Overall nice experience, but a little uneven. The sole meuniere was excellent, the green curry stew entry sounded interesting but was bland and boring.
Our server was inattentive, we got bruschetta and after my date and I ate a piece, we realized all the remaining pieces were covered in mold. Instead of being overly apologetic they just comped ONLY the bruschetta. The ravioli's I ordered took forever and was undercooked. Just it was such a bad experience that I felt like I was in a prank show. Waste of time money and a meal.
A must go! From the moment we walked in until we left the attention, friendliness and professionalism was evident from everyone. We were by the door and the hostess noticed me putting my wrap on and immediately asked if we wanted to be moved. The menu had variety and creativity yet the portions were generous and almost everything among the best I have had at any restaurant since moving to the area from The OC. The ambiance was terrific and great for dates. We happened to have a loud diner next to us but otherwise the noise level and vibe was very mellow. Bonus was that we did not have to go to/through a casino. We live in Minden and will make it a point to come into Reno for the night to enjoy more meals at the Fin & Filet!
Delicious dinner, same set up as it was when it was called Feast. Delicious drinks and fun to try game. I had the wild boar shank and risotto and hubby had the kangaroo. Basil berry martini was also amazing. Will be back again.
We are so glad we found this restaurant, and plan to return many times! The food was fantastic, loved the scallops and crab cakes for appetizers. And the special Sea Bass was very good. The best was the Venison rack. It was an awesome experience. We had a issue with getting the wine in time for the appetizers, but the owner stepped in to make sure we were happy. We will be back very, very soon!
We found Fin and Filet to have an excellent ambiance, food and service, a great experience in mid-town Reno dining. Highly recommended!
The food was amazing and I can’t believe it took us so long to visit. Service was great, and we never had a dirty plate sit, need water or anything else. They were very intuitive...great staff! Cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever had. We will be back soon!!
Oh My Gosh.... This is a "Fine Dining" experience! The menu is comprehensive with a little bit of everything for just about anyone. The atmosphere is pleasant; not too big and the noise level is perfect for a converation at the table. Music is perfect. The location is accessible even with South Virginia's road construction. Ample parking in the rear of the building. We enjoyed a very nice date night. Our meal was fablous and our waiter was gracious and professional. It was a wonderful evening and I am looking forward to my birthday in February to visit again.
The food was AMAZING! Cooked to perfection and exactly what fine dining is about. The server was a bit overwhelmed because she was the only one and SO friendly and individually attentive. They made sure that my allergy was not tested except on the apps. I accidentally ate something I should not have. But for an area that doesn’t offer many specifically gluten free places, this was top notch.
The atmosphere was cozy and upscale without pretense because the food stood up to the prices and hype.
10/10 we will take our next double date there. They even sent us home with a dessert on the house for his birthday! It had a candle in it and she wrote a birthday message on the box! (It was the coconut something and he LOVED IT!)
Fin & Filet has become our new "GO-TO" after having our 2018 company Christmas party there. This last visit was my wife's birthday, and there was no discussion about where this day would be celebrated. Great job!
Great experience and the service was outstanding. The food was good and they had an excellent selection for drinks. Highly Recommend!!
We took my son and his fiance here to celebrate her birthday, both are vegetarians and loved the selections available. We are carnivores and loved the fabulous selections in that area. in addition to being fabulous, the food is well presented. The service is amazing as well - the waiter even suggested that he decant our wine to enable it to open up. All in all it was a great experience. We can't wait to go back with friends and try one of their feasts with wine.
Everything was outstanding!
Excellent food and great presentation! Nice bar also. Staff is impeccable
Good meal but not over the top. Bonus points for the sauces being gluten free and allowing substitutions. The one downfall was that it was a slow night so they crammed everyone into one small area as there was only one waitress. But the restaurant is small so not sure why we could've have been spread out more.
We had been in Reno for a conference and had been dining at our resort. The hotel food was mediocre and we wanted to find a nice restaurant that wasn’t part of a hotel. We stumbled across Fin and Filet on open table and decided to give it a try. They have great ambience and the owner visited each table to ensure the guests were happy. It’s always nice to see the owner out and about on the floor helping. The ambience was great, it was busy but not noisy! It had an eclectic flair and the menu had something for everyone. I had the iceberg salad and the sole both of which were excellent! My husband had the brussel sprouts and filet. The Brussels were yummy but the steak was a little underdone for medium rare, still very good though. Our server did an excellent job finding us a great bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend this establishment and if we are back to Reno we will definitely have dinner here again.
Nice ambiance. Impressive menu including wild game.
We attended Safari Club this year and were looking for a great place to eat outside of the hotels. Fin & Filet had posted a wild game menu on their website that lured us in. Their menu had something for everyone, focused on flavor and the best preparations, and our party of eight left full and happy. The portions are just right, even for men, and the pricing was appropriate. We will be back next year!
This place was great. Reading some of the bad reviews and I'm wondering if those people when to the same place.
We had 5:00pm reservations (which is when they open) and were sat promptly at our choice of table
The "tonight's feast" special menu looked amazing, but unfortunately my wife doesn't like game meat (see picture of menu)
I got the boar shanks and my wife got a filet oscar.
I saved my appetite all day for this meal and I couldn't finish my plate...and I'm a big guy. Whoever complained about small portions must have a special eating disorder
The only complaint would be my wife's filet had a light taste on the bottom like something had been burnt on the grill before cooking the steak and some of the char flavor got passed on. She cut that part off and said the rest was wonderful and perfectly cooked
We got a bottle of wine and a dessert to split (their cheesecake is about the size of a deck of cards and must have weight 10 lbs...excellent homemade style if you like very rich cheesecake!)
I thought the bill would have been double what it was. Of course it's a little expensive, it's a fancy sit down restaurant (again not sure what the previous reviews were complaining about)
We will definitely be going back
My wife and I dined here while visiting Reno for the first time. The restaurant was highly recommended and did not disappoint us. I had a venison rack, and my wife had the sea bass. Service was great, and we would return to dine here again.
Awesome food! You won't be disappointed. On our first visit as out of town guest we liked it so much we made a reservation for the following night.
Excellent. Great food, great service. I was here for a business dinner. Small dining area, quiet.
We were there for New Year’s Eve 5 course dinner with wine pairings. Service was excellent and the venue is warm and inviting as well as intimate. Loved the appetizers of food gras and oysters. The lobster bisque was just how I like it... not too rich. The main course was a bit bland. I had surf and turf which was lobster and filet. Although the filet was perfectly cooked it lacked any flavor and the lobster was dry and rubbery. The sides also lacked in flavor. I have been here a few times, however and that is not a normal experience so will certainly be back again.
What a find! Visiting Reno and had to make a last-minute reservation. Family here had never heard of the place so I guess it’s fairly new and in what’s considered a ‘not great ‘ part of town- but that’s all changing. We were blown away by the service, quality of food, and value. I cannot emphasize this enough. My wife and I travel a lot and eat at very nice places and I’m telling you- this is one of the best. We are seriously considering going back before we leave town.
We always enjoy our family "Feast" experience!
The food is terrific and always something new to try. Eli medallions and seared scallops were particularly good this dinnner.
After being seated we were encouraged by our waiter to order the five course holiday special meal. Both I and my client were impressed by the waiters in depth description of each course and we both ordered the special. After several requests to open our carry-in bottle of Caymus Reserve to allow it to breathe the server uncorked our wine. A few minutes later we were advised that the special was no longer available. We then reordered other appetizers and entrees. The Ahi Tartare was okay but not exceptional but the deviled egg appetizer was very bland not what you would expect in a four star restaurant. My client was impressed with his wild boar entrée but my roasted duck was undercooked but after a return trip from the kitchen was okay. A shared dessert and coffee (espressso was not available) was good. Overall service was poor. We did not see our waiter other than when we requested him via our bus boy to have my entrée repaired and request a dessert menu until he presented us with a check. I might give the Fin & Filet another shot because it is close to my residence but not with a client along with me. JZ
