FIG & OLIVE Uptown Ratings and Reviews
So impressed about everything at this restaurant. Management (Ray) was incredibly helpful and informative about menu as well as being accommodating and generous with us. Delicious meal. Will be highly recommended by all of us. So happy to have decided to dine at this restaurant!
Thank you, Ray, for making this such a wonderful dining experience!
The menu has some of the items from the past but has changed a lot. Traditional things like steak were added along with the old favorite lamb chops. The crostini were the same and delicious as usual. The service was excellent. The wine list had reat choices. This place is a winner.
Three friends who hadn't seen each other for awhile where able to have lunch at Fig and Olive. It took us some time to order because we were talking , but there was no rush from the wait staff. Our food was very good.
The ambiance is lively and busy. After 2:00 when we left more people we're still coming in. It's a popular spot.
Between the terrific burger and the well-priced three course lunch, this location gets remarkably busy at lunch. Consequently it was a bit too noisy and cramped at our table. At least the food was delicious and our server did a great job. But I do wish they'd shake up the menu options more often. I feel like it's been pretty much the same for three years now. Still, $29 for warming carrot soup, fresh salmon and the best chocolate pot de creme, I won't complain.
I've eaten at the Rock Center location many times. This was our first venture uptown. The food was the same which is a GOOD thing. The tagine, the Fig&Olive salad, the burrata tomato salad; all delicious. My only negative is that we sat in the back after requesting a quiet table. We loved the view into the open kitchen but not so much the chatter of the bus/kitchen/wait staff that tend to congregate right there and clearly enjoy each other's company. It meant for a noisy table. Now we know! There isn't really a "quiet" corner of this restaurant as there is in midtown. Overall, though, would recommend to friends.
My wife & I were staying just off Lexington & 62 Street so this restaurant was very convenient. We decided to try it out after reading the reviews, both good & bad. We found the restaurant to be cozy & we like the ambience. The food and service was very good, was it exceptional , No but we were certainly satisfied. We knew this restaurant was part of a franchise and set our expectations accordingly. The Truffle Mushroom Croquettes were as good as any we have eaten in Barcelona or San Sebastián.
The food and kitchen service were not up to their usual high standard. We were very disappointed this evening. My appetizer of buratta and heirloom tomatoes was delicious but not all the tomatoes were "heirloom." My salmon, ordered medium rare, was served so hot that it was still cooking in the bowl (why was it served in a bowl?) of course it was well done and dry by the time I could eat it. The rest of the plate was green mush. My wife's dishes were fine though. We go here often and I was really surprised that my entree was awful. Sorry for the bad review.
We did the prix fixe option - it was a really great value for all of the food! Our meals were both delicious (I had the penne tartuffi). The wine selection, however, was disappointing. We tried 3 different reds and they all tasted sour... Not sure what was up. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was good.
Once upon a time you could count on enjoying fresh figs @ Fig & Olive. Well if you're interested in or craving fresh figs I'd suggest buying them from a street vendor because that would be the only option! Salads were quite good, my chicken dish was acceptable and my wife's bruschetta was straight from the fridge (to the hostess credit it was addressed) We had not dined at F&O for quite some time and it's doubtful there would be a return visit
Service was close to dreadful. We had an inexperienced waiter who was not supervised. We were never brought the F&O signature olive oils and bread. We were not offered more to drink and when we finally placed an order drinks were brought when we were just about finished with the meal.
