The people next to us were drunk and they were doing weird thing on our table
Fig and Olive is and has been a great location to have special occasions and everyday dining. This experience was the worst I have ever experienced. The service was inexcusably terrible. Waters and ice teas not kept full and when we asked it took 3-4 times asking multiple people including our waiter Javier S. to refill. Plates not cleared in appropriate timing, and food order of crostinis was incorrect.
Javier was sparse at best and on multiple occasions we had to ask bus staff for items. But that was no guarantee.
We felt as though we were an inconvenience to Javier and it was inappropriate to feel that way. We noticed the “manager” in a blue suit begin to walk around and ask other tables of Javier’s how their experience was and if they needed anything. It was clear everyone around us was having issues with ordering, orders being inaccurate and overall inattentive service. I was also disappointed that not once did that manager come to check on our table. We were there for almost 2 hours and not by choice.
When the bill came, which by the way was the only prompt arrival to the table, I went to the restroom and when I came back my mother informed me that Javier came to pick it up and my mom told him I wasn’t done with it and his response was “well there is a signature on it”. INAPPROPRIATE. INEXCUSABLE. ARGUMENTATIVE WITH A CUSTOMER. I tipped him 10% and that was generous. I am known to be an over-tipper and this took everything I had to even leave 10%. Javier is in the wrong business. And that is bad for Fig and Olive Business.
Of all the locations I have been to, Newport has been a favorite but it will now be a last resort for dining in Newport.
Excellent service, food is subpar and overpriced. I'll take a meal at Ruth'sChris over Fig&Olive any day.
My Mom 83 Birthday- there were 7 of us and we had an outstanding evening from Chase the valet to our waiter and bus folks- Foods was outstanding as usual!! We didn’t over 600 but man was it worth it!!
I was a pretty disappointed. The food was average at best. Crostini was good but nothing dazzling. The short ribs were dry and lacked flavor. For the price I would have thought it'd been better. I wouldn't go back nor recommend.
Nice service. Birthday for friend. Disappointed in the food Way to salty. Overall had a nice evening
Waited 30 min more. Gave us a table for 2 when I requested for 4.
First time there it was really good took my two daughters for there bday
Perfect for date night. Loved sitting on the patio by the fireplace!
Beautiful place for lunch and catching up with dear friends.
This was our second time to Fig and Olive but first time in Newport Beach. This is a beautiful venue with amazing food. True to the creative chefs habit of delivering delicious food!
Delicious food and great service. Very trendy and clean inside.
Our girls birthdays. It’s their favorite restaurant
This is a beautiful restaurant. Light and airy. We had dined at the one in LA before but much preferred this one. We awesome service and wonderful food. Very unusual things. Not your meat and potato restaurant.
From the minute you walk in the door, you know there is something special about this place...it’s beautiful decor and ambiance is amazing. The food was excellent. The portions are a bit small but the food itself was excellent. I had the salmon and it was delicious and some to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. And our waiter, Clayton, was truly the best of the best! Thanks for making our visit so memorable, Clayton!
Very nice time for a Birthday celebration
Awesome food and service.
Cocktails are yummy but food is okay.. not so good. We ordered Fig & Olive salad and it was soaked in dressing to the point that isn't edible. The Pizza was burnt so i would go there only for cocktails and brussel sprouts appetizer and hope that pizza will be better (the one on Melrose had a better pizza all the time..).
Also, there was a big party in the patio with kids which led bathrooms in disaster: dirty and no toilet paper..
Always a pleasure dining here in bright and lively circumstances.
Great and inventive choices, and friendly service.
One of the best restaurants ever!! The food is amazing, service is incredible, lovely ambiance. They have multiple gorgeous rooms in which to dine. It is truly the best dining experience I’ve ever had.
Fantastic meal! Excellent service! Our server, Sharie, was rushed off her feet but still made us feel special. We’ll be back next time we’re in town for sure!
This restaurant would get my best of the year vote. The people working there are extremely knowledgeable on what the ingredients are, what beer/wine/custom cocktails pair best with not only flavor but textures of the menu items. I had the lamb and would highly recommend it. The outdoor seating "the patio" is really nice and comfortable area to enjoy dinner. Just a heads up, you will want to schedule an earlier reservation as the place gets very busy, very quickly. Also, the coffee with a small sample of a desert was the perfect size "dessert" for us. We were there just over 2 hours and enjoyed every minute of it.
The food and service was great but the music too loud. We were having a late lunch and the restaurant was almost empty, but the music was so loud we could barely hear each other across the table. We asked the music be turned down, but it wasn't.
Food was excellent. Great service. Will definitely go back when in the area.
Food was fabulous, as usual. I just did not like during next to an outlet, next to the service bar.
Very noisy!!! Love everything ... just had to shout!
We came here for their Easter brunch and this was our first time to this restaurant. The brunch menu was somewhat limited. We had a couple of appetizers, mushroom croquettes and eggplant tapenade. Both were very good and then the meal came. My wife has pasta and while she enjoyed it, she said it was nothing special. I had a lamb burger. The first time it was served cold and I mean cold. The second time is was served, it was lukewarm. The waiter took Greg CRE of us and did not charge us for the burger. Nevertheless, that the same item came out cold and then lukewarm suggests a service problem in the kitchen. For the price, we will visit other restaurants.
Great food and service as usual. Clay ton was so attentive and wonderful!
Food was delicious - love those bruschetta . Service was excellent (thank you, Jake!)
We came away filled and happy.
They’re food used to be better and larger portions. I had the mushroom risotto with chicken added. It was so salty I couldn’t eat most of it. The add on chicken was dry and literally 3 bites on a kabob. The octopus carpaccio was tender but we didn’t like the sauce it was in. When I had been there when they first opened their Signature Crostinis were to die for. These were smaller, mushy and so-so. My fiancé’s paella was good but the smallest one he had ever seen lol. Overall pricey for what you get and not as good as it used to be.
Greet experience. Always surprised that there is a charge for valet.
Food is okay but too expensive for quality and selection.
We have had several enjoyable meals here in the past, but this time three entrées arrived and the fourth about 10 minutes later. This is absolutely unforgivable.
Hostess rude. Had to wait 25 minutes for table even having a reservation. Service was a bit weak. waiter forgot appetizer. Could see him chatting with others in bar and we could not get his attention to get our bill so we could leave since it had been two hours long.
Good food, excellent ambiance, would recommend.
The wait staff was not as attentive as one would expect for this priced restaurant.
1. He did not pass by after service of the food;
2. I had to waive the bus person over and ask for pepper and ketchup for my potatoes, etc.
I did not punish an tipped normally, bc I wanted to give him a chance, but if I have him in
the future and ##1 and 2 or something else gets overlooked, I will.
Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback and enjoy a good evening dinner.
Love the ambiance of the restaurant! Food just wasn’t that good this time. Had to send steak back as over cooked. Salad wasn’t tossed frittes were cold.
Wonderful meal. Very attentive wait staff. Beautiful setting.
big space well organized semi-open kitchen big bar. sleek elegant modern and still casual. we enjoyed very much of food and atmosphere. we ordered 6 crostinis and all are good with our wines. after meal, we ordered cheese plate which has good variation and two jams. loved crunchy praline (probabry the best of the night) that comes with coffee.
The one thing I have to say is that the service is excellent. Especially the waitress I had Vanessa, she gave above and beyond service. The food was quite delicious and different as well
Mediterranean Patio. Just outside the perimeter of busy Fashion Island shopping center, Fig and Olive has a covered patio area that overlooks a nice garden shaded by olive trees. The tables and pillowy booths surround a central fireplace. The setting made for a nice Sunday brunch on a cool winter day. All food was outstanding - read others' reviews for specifics - but enjoy your dining mates in a nice atmosphere.
