The one thing I have to say is that the service is excellent. Especially the waitress I had Vanessa, she gave above and beyond service. The food was quite delicious and different as well
Mediterranean Patio. Just outside the perimeter of busy Fashion Island shopping center, Fig and Olive has a covered patio area that overlooks a nice garden shaded by olive trees. The tables and pillowy booths surround a central fireplace. The setting made for a nice Sunday brunch on a cool winter day. All food was outstanding - read others' reviews for specifics - but enjoy your dining mates in a nice atmosphere.
This is my girlfriend's favorite restaurant so we went for her birthday before seeing Cirque Du Soliel. A great experience the food was excellent as was the service. I thought $12 for a Sangria was a bit excessive but was good. I was not able to book directly from Open Table but had to go to the Fig and Olive website and was directed from there.
Everything went wrong on this particular evening; we were not greeted politely by front hostess; then our waitress attempted to coerce to order more food than we desired; we ordered filet as an entree asked to be cooked medium, but it came well done; waitress never asked how the steak was; then finally, she was running around just too busy (which she admitted) taking orders from other tables and we were ignored after we placed our entree orders; asked for a check which took another 10-15 minutes because we would probably wait another hour just to get our dessert if we had ordered. It was one horrible experience at a restaurant that was advertised as one of famous and recommended restaurant for excellent food and service. I would not return to this place unless a change of management in running this restaurant operation. Overall, the expected food and service fell far beyond expectations for the price I paid. Very disappointed!!
Food was OK, not great. A group near us was very loud and obnoxious, due to the 2 bottles of wine drank between the 4 of them. Not the best time we have had there.
I've been here before and enjoyed it very much, this time went for brunch and we were sat outside where it was so noisy we couldn't carry on a conversation without shouting. Neither of us enjoyed our meal very much, spouse got steak and eggs which he had to ask for salt/pepper and hot sauce as he said there was no flavor and also had to send his meal back to be warmed as it arrived cold. Next time if there is a next time we will stick with drinks and appetizers.
Only issue was the noise level was loud so our party of 5 people had a hard time hearing each other. We made reservations but were seated right in front of the kitchen area.
Everything exceeded our expectations from the time we arrived - wonderful personality of the Valet - exceptional service from our server (Vanessa) - the best tasting food ever with a beautiful presentation. I can't wait to return!!!!
I went here for lunch- ordered 6 crostinis - (no prosciutto)2 fig/ olive, 2burrata, & 2 fig manchego... all were yummy! We ordered a chicken dish(I forget the name) but it was super delicious... melt in your mouth chicken and everything in that stewy- style dish added to the flavor that made it what it is. The apple tart to finish the meal was not too sweet- just right- I will definitely be back!
Really nice in all ways except a bit too noisy and weirdly low chairs. But everyone had a great time and food /service was superb. Great place .. try it.
We went to Fig & Olive on the recommendation of a family member at the last minute. We had a party of eight and were thrilled that same day reservations were easily accommodated via Open Table. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were charmed by its ambiance and the friendliness of the staff. Throughout the dinner service, the food was exceptional and our server extremely courteous, attentive and professional. The Fig & Olive exceeded our expectations and for this, we all agreed we're definitely coming back!
The place looks great and the food was excellent. Our server was excellent and was courteous, friendly and was not pressing us at all. We order a combination from the OC Restaurant Week Menu and their regular menu and every single dish was done to perfection.
Our only constructive feedback is that it felt our server had more tables than she could handle and took a while for her to get back to us. Other than that, it was an awesome experience and we will dining there again soon.
The prosciutto/fig/walnut crostini was a fabulous starter for us. Then we selected the mushroom croquettes which were so tastey, and then the mushroom risotto was devine. Services was outstanding. Noise was a bit much but ok. And the dessert was so deliscious, a little cup of heaven.
This was our second visit, and it was just as good as the first. We received friendly and attentive service, and the food was delicious. We started with six crostinis, then I tried the carrot and ginger soup. We also split a Fig & Olive salad (there is easily enough for two). My entree was the Atlantic salmon, which was moist and tasty. For dessert, we shared a wonderful chocolate concoction. A lovely evening.
We had the best service on Saturday! Our server was super friendly and frequently checked in on us and made great suggestions whenever asked.
I really was very pleasantly surprised by F&O. It's an absolutely beautiful space.
Had only been to the bar before, which can be loud and a Newport scene - but lunch was lovely.
Enjoyed each course we had. The service was prompt and friendly.
Will definitely go back!
Always my go to. It never disappoints. Great ambiance, food etc. Only drawback this time, was that our waitress unfortunately had to fill too many shoes. She was our server and also was behind the bar making drinks. I don't think that should happen. Our service was good, but could have been more efficient. Plate clearing etc.
Not enough words to say how amazing our dinner was. If you come here and eat, you must request Chris as your server... she was the BEST server I've ever had anywhere dining out. She knew exactly what we needed before we did, had impeccable taste and recommendations, and had a charm and wit that could not be beat! If you are in Newport Beach... run, dont walk to Fig & Olive!
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT-everything about it is beautiful!
Your restaurant in Newport Beach is a beautiful place. The Best Seating is outside.
Less noisy. We came with a Special Friend to celebrate her Birthday.
I mentioned it in my Reservation OPEN TABLE, and I mentioned it again to the hostess,
but the waiter was clueless....he finally brought us some leftover very average tiny slice of cake.
Which was really disappointing to ALL .We left it almost untouched. Usually you made the Raspberry Souffle for my other friends.
Do I have to order it in advance You never asked for it at OPEN TABLE.
That was the only disappointing part, the Service was a little slow too.
There is always room for improvement pls. bring back the Birthday Surprise Souffle.
That was your Trademark!!! Don't become one of the many others....Please !!!
We had reservation and asked to be seat in the garden area but got refused. Some other had no reservation and was seated in the garden . Maybe the waiter did not want to loose customers of his section? Not very happy since I bring my friend there because we love the garden ambiance and not choosing other restaurants. Also when I walked in the host not very friendly ignoring me , I have to approach her instead of her asking me if she can help first. Need to retrain your staff.
we had great dinner and coctails.
the atmosphere and ambiance was so comfortabale and at he same time we could talk each other so easily because of the stable music volume.
Delicious food and friendly service! Only reason gave 3 stars on service is because they brought out the hot food before the cold appetizers. Bartenders are enjoyable without being overly obtrusive. One of our favorite go-to restaurants in any location!
Our server was very attentive, and accommodated our requests.
Here for Restaurant week. Excellent in all areas. Great servers who were very knowledgeable about different foods.
The food and the ambiance were good but the service was terrible as the waitress added items we didn't order.
Nice place service wasn’t bad, kinda slow for the amount of people in the restaurant. Food was ok nothing too special as I thought it would’ve been considering all the hype.
Our waiter was excellent!! He made our evening an awesome experience! The gentleman who presented us with our food was so helpful with telling us what were eating. The man keeping our water glasses full was very attentive. Overall a 5 Star experience. We loved how you present bread and a sampling of your olive oils on our table. We hope to return to Fig and Olive this week before we fly back to MN.
Wonderful ambience and delicious food! Will definitely go back!
Food was good. Service was fair.
Great service and spectacular food
Great european style food service exceptional
When Fig first opened it had flare and class to go along with the high price of the food. Now it seems to be tired and lacking it’s original luster. Looking at the faded and ripped seats we sat on, dirty wine glasses, very fishy smell of the sea bass and our seasoned diner type waitress we definitely will not be returning to this place. Our 600 + check was not well spent.
It was our first visit (in honor of our anniversary) and while the room is pretty; the seating arrangement offers very little intimacy. You are virtually sitting next to strangers on both sides. Our server took our drink order but is was quite some time before we got our drinks. The crustinis were very good but the appetizers were just okay. My $49.00 steak was just so/so and my wife’s salmon was a bit ‘fishy.’ Our experience was just average with nothing that left much of a big impression.
You only get to turn 40 once and this was my wife's turn. Thank god and baby jesus F&O didn't disappoint. Front the valet to the hostess to the server to the food delivery to the menu, nothing failed to impress. Mind you our meal came to a bit over $500 for four, but there was no guilt signing that tab.
We were there for my birthday dinner as a family and really enjoyed the ambiance and service. Our server was very kind and helpful. Even though we did not ordered ant dessert he brought us a cake with candle. We loved the food and the service.
This has become a favourite, local restaurant. We were seated late, lots of lingering couples, perhaps celebrating St. Valentine's Day still, but were seated by the fireplace in the room to the left of the entry so our table was nice. Our waitress, Shari, was friendly, had great suggestions, and was attentive. The Fig & Olive Salad was plenty to share and we both enjoyed it. My grass-fed filet was cooked perfectly and I tried the olive oil bearnaise which complemented it. My friend's lobster-bisque styled bouillabaisse was good, and the suggested addition of shrimp was also a good choice.Ordered the dessert, but in spite of it being delicious, we just could not finish it. Next time: come hungrier!
Great food and service. Wonderful from start to finish!
