FIG & OLIVE Melrose Place Ratings and Reviews
I have dined here before and the food is just great. Try all the Crostini’s but if you spy a table of twenty something girls with one or two token boys move as fast you can. For three hundred bucks for two people I would have preferred not to hear the cackling drunken teens on top of the push cart which is so damn loud in the back room where you don’t want to sit. The noise was pretty lousy and ruined the night. I like Barton G and The Bazzar but at least the rooms are big enough to displace the sound of the annoying shrieks of girls using Dad’s credit card. Again the food is great but check out where they seat you - the bar is actually the quietest
This is a beautiful restaurant and great people watching. The food is interesting although I ordered a pumpkin risotto and the portion was so small it was like 6 bites. The wine was corky. This was my fourth visit but I probably won’t go back as it seems to be slipping.
We like to take guests from out of town here, as the ambiance is the epitome of Southern California chic. Beautiful dining room and a lovely bar.
It wasn’t very crowded so the noise level was low. For being not crowded , the service was a bit lacking however. I had to call over a waiter to get my drink order taken , having waited for 10 minutes for him to come. But overall , the food was good, the lamb chops stellar and the wine list good , albeit on the pricey side.
The best thing about the restaurant it the beauty of the space and light there. It is a pleasure to spend a couple of hours soaking in the Southern California vibe.
Came to celebrate a friends birthday so we decided to do brunch. The menu is extensive but easy to navigate. There are ablotnofnoptions and so many good choices that it was hard to narrrow it down! Needless to say, the crostini selection is just amazing: the flavor combinations are truly delicious. I also would recommend dessert 🙂
Quite disappointing as they had two large parties that took over most of the restaurant. The pleasure of it is sitting in the light airy atrium. We had to sit in the Bar area in the lounge seats not a regular table. The party was very noisy as well. They should have let people know this at booking.
Our meals were amazing and was brought to our table quickly. The atmosphere and general presentation was also amazing, however, the service we received dampened the experience. We noted we were celebrating a birthday & anniversary which the hostess passed along to the server, however nothing was ever said or done. We also asked for a drink menu, but our server never took our order so we stuck with water. We asked for bread while we looked everything over, it came out at the same time as our meal. We sat long enough once brought to the table that when the waiter greeted us, we already knew what we wanted. Overall, we would go back, but I hope the service improves on what is known to be a popular hot spot in LA.
Great start to finish in terms of appetizers to main meal. Had the Cheese plate and Lamb. Simply amazing. Go for the lamb chops, you won't regret it. Love the trio of olive oil and also had a great appetizer, gotta order at least 3 signature Crostini's. Little pricy, but heh it's LA. If you want quality you gotta pay for it
I visit this restaurant often, mostly for business meals. On this last dinner I was with a "particular" client, which affected the evening. On the other hand, I've taken much more high profile clients to dinners here, and they have loved it. As for this specific evening, I'm a casual sorta guy....so it was good, but not as good as usual. Great server, sincere and nice person, and that goes a long way for me. The food prep wasn't up to par, however, or at least as nicely as they usually do. I've been so many times that I have my favorite dishes which I love....but on this night the chefs seemed to have faded (my fav lamb and fish dishes failed unfortunately:(). Doesn't matter...I still trust the restaurant very much, and I think it was just an off night. The restaurant is usually great and does a superb job. I've taken 1 person, and also hosted groups of more than 40 at the location....it's usually a great restaurant...but just being honest about my last visit, and we all have our off nights!!!
the old fashion was smooth, my friends cocktail was light and bland. the drinks were overpriced at $20 a drink. i ordered a skirt steak, the meat was juicy but the marinate was very sweet (teriyaki, maybe even a sugar glaze), the potatoes were bland, the rapini was really bitter. i don't think any part of the dish complimented each other. my friend ordered a truffle risotto and added chicken. the chicken came out in a skewer, she said it was juicy and tender but the risotto was bland. the strawberry jam/sorbet dessert was great, but neither of us felt we got our monies worth. we left hungry and unsatisfied. our waiter was courteous however he didn't check on us until he walked by and heard our conversation about service. the ambience was nice but that's it. i wouldn't recommend this place to friends.
