FIG & OLIVE Melrose Place Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately one of my favorite "go to" restaurants has really gone downhill in the last 6 months. Service was terrible, part of our order was delivered to another table and we were charged for it, food was mediocre, etc. etc. While the physical plant of the restaurant remains intact, most other aspects of the dining experience have really headed south. We gave it a "second chance" last weekend but unfortunately I don't know if I can be convinced to return.
I absolutely loved this place. The moment you pull up you’re immediately greeted by staff who opens the door for you. The ambiance is amazing the moment you step inside. I friggin love this place. Our waiter was really good. We were there for Dine Out LA and the chefs menu was awesome. The bruschetta with fig and prosciutto was the best. Definitely recommend
Bottle of sparkling water was $15. Small cappuccino was $10. The place is obnoxiously overpriced. The food is good but nothing in the realm of paying $10 for a small tiny cup of coffee
We went here for Dine LA where they trick by calling it a three course meal for $40. But everything on the menu is $6 extra or $10 extra. Fine. That makes sense. But where they make up for it after is the drinks. Very disappointed in their game. I’ve been here before and they don’t charge $10 for coffee. This was a gimmick to make their money back which is dishonest. They just lost a loyal group of patrons.
We were there for a dinela dinner. Overall experience was not bad. We tried their duck breast and truffle risotto, those entrees were both pretty good. We had the croquettes for appetizer, some were served cold, not really a fan. We also got the chef’s crostini tasting, not really impressed. Dining environment is not bad.
The restaurant desires to be a chic place, but it is far from it. The service leaves a lot to be desired, the reception is confusing and totally disorganized. I made a reservation for 9pm and it took us over 30 minutes to be seated. the place is noisy and far from being a nice place. The food is reasonable
First time here...ambiance/decor was absolutely beautiful. Was 35 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic, but the staff accommodated beautifully. Our waiter was good, attentive, but not too overbearing. Food came out at a decent pace. The crostinis.... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Had the duck breast as my entree. Was very good, but oddly enough it tasted more like ham than duck😕😕😕. Anywho, if I am in that area again, I would definitely go back.
Very disappointing! Went for lunch. Had to wait for a while for host to show up. Got a crappy table, while good tables inside the restaurant was open. Waited a while for the waiter, who made me wait more after I said i was ready to order. Brought me the wrong drink. Didn’t offer a straw while every table around had one. Got the dine la lunch- croquettes were salty and soggy from being drenched in truffle oil; paella had zero seasoning; pot de creme was okay but the cookies served with it were the only thing worth $25. Left the restaurant after an hour and did not get a warm goodbye-which the restaurant’s survey asked me about. Wrote all this in my survey to them and they didn’t even have the decency to apologize. Never going back.
It’s just a beautiful room although not great table - too close to bathrooms and bus service station. Had I arrived first, I would’ve asked for a different table. But our out-of-town friends were seated and content.
Our waiter was lovely but the service was very slow to start. Had to wait quite a while for appetizers and bread - but after that things went smoothly. The waiter was very sweet and knowledgeable and actually gave us an extra dessert and more of one side that was woefully in adequate for four people.
The food was really delicious and the room is one of my favorites.
My friend and I came specifically for he restaraunt week specials and we were more than satisfied with our meals. The service was a little behind because there was a very demanding large party however our server held me over with a glass of champagne while I waited for my cocktail. I had the grass fed filet mignon, he had the duck breast. We also got the crostini tasting add on (worth it!). Absolutely beautiful ambiance, definitely coming back soon!
First time and disappointed with service from Reda. Unless he knows you he'll ignore your table. Waited forever to place our order. His 1 minute became 10 before he came back to us. Dinner came out and I never got my drink. Only then did he reappear and I mentioned my missing drink which came out tepid not chilled. The support staff was wonderful but he maybe needs to take heed from them on how to treat diners. I had specified on my RSVP and also when they called that we had a b'day celebration which was ignored. We all noticed Reda was very attentive to other tables yet ignored us. When I asked on desert recommendations, he gave his suggestions as he was walking away. I cannot say anything good about the food because the service was terrible.
Honestly the food was very disappointing, the only delicious plate was the dessert. The host took us all the way to the back room which is boring and dull compared to the main dining room. Two members of the staff greeted us ‘how ya’ll doing’ which was offputing considering the ambiance/vibe of the restaurant, also waiter did not look us in the eye. It was a strange experience.
The ambiance is great. Very elegant and chic. The food was absolutely awful. Over salted fish and vegetables. Could not taste the beautiful life of fish because it was so over seasoned. The Brussel sprouts were inedible. Sweet and tasteless. I was told that they were marinated in aged balsamic. Well, all we tasted was sweet sugar..:/: really awful.
I will personally not go back.
My only criticism is that I ordered a pot of tea -- $4. 50. Pricey .
The pot of tea was replaced without my asking. Another $4.50. Really, F + O, you could spring for the hot water.
Also, the check requires the patron to do math ! This is not a good idea.
The reason the patron is required to do math is that several tipping options (percentages) are offered but these are NOT pre-calculated and offered on the check as options. You have to add it up yourself using a calculator or a pen. I was an English major. You should NOT make me do math !!! The options are fine, but the varying totals should be pre-figured and presented on the check.
It was my first time dining at Fig & Olive Melrose Place... and it definitely won't be my last! The atmosphere was lovely - elegant and cozy. The service staff was friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food was delicious. Our party of 3 started with the Chef's selection of crostinis (truffle, ibérico ham, and duck confit). We ordered the lamb, the Chilean sea bass, and the truffle risotto for our main dishes. For dessert, we shared the olive oil cake. I look forward to future meals here!
