FIG & OLIVE Melrose Place

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous! My boyfriend and I came here for ~date night~ and were not disappointed. The hostess was wonderful and sat us at the best table inside (right under the tree w/ lights). As we were walking to our table, all staff was greeting us. Our server, Nick, was incredibly helpful throughout the night. He went over the menu, suggested wine pairings for certain meats, checked in on us at appropriate times, and let us enjoy our dining experience. My boyfriend and I started out with a cocktail to kick off the evening. I got the Rossellini - really smooth drink and really tasty! My boyfriend got the Fig & Olive. He didn't let me have a taste...so you know it was THAT good. The food was amazing. We started out with the crostini's - definitely recommend - we ordered Forest Mushroom, Burrata and Goat Cheese - delicious! I ordered the Lamb Chops for my entree. WOW. First off, I'm not a big lamb chop gal, but I thought I would step out of my comfort zone because Nick (our server) said it was his favorite dish. The presentation in itself was beautiful. The lamb chops were presented in a glass dome engulfed in smoke from torched rosemary. I paired it with a glass of Walt Pinot Noir. My boyfriend ordered the Sea Bass and thoroughly enjoyed it. For dessert, we ordered the Pot de Creme - you would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not order this. It is AWESOME. And it's the perfect way to end the night. As we left, one of the managers, Romaine, thanked us for coming in. The staff is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to go back!
We had a wonderful time, service was excellent, I do not like feeling rushed and did not feel that way once. Food was excellent and so were drinks, they had a fun cocktail list. Would definitely come back.
Food quality did not justify even half the price. Ambiance was exceptional though.
Great food, service, loved the decor, so wonderful all around!
I’m a regular at Fig and Olive and pride on having a ‘usual’. I’m always ready with my order and refuse to look at the menu haha! I consider the Chilean sea bass entree as one of my fave seafood dishes of all times and look forward to dining at Fig and Olive only to order that.
I was extremely disappointed when I dined recently. The sea bass was a let down. Even though the fish was fresh and cooked well, the romesco sauce was extremely grainy and the texture was just off. All the crisps were soggy and stale instead of being light and crispy like they usually are. I also felt like the portion/size of the fish was really tiny compared to the several times I have dined in the past. In retrospect, I wish I had told my server about the fish but we were celebrating my friend’s 21st (and it was my idea to celebrate at Fig and Olive) and I didn’t want to dampen the festivities. I was extremely excited and was really let down. I’m not sure if the dish was just left out for too long which is why the crisps were stale (?)
I just wanted to bring this to your notice as I still crave the Chilean sea bass entree that I’m used to having :)
The ambiance, as usual, was impeccable.
Portions are too small for the price. I added scallops to my dish and was very disappointed to only have received 2, especially with such a small portion. My date ordered the seafood salad and was equally disappointed in the presentation and portion size too.
Awesome as always!
Service was very slow but waiter was very nice and accommodating. Maitre d could really use an attitude check. Does not smile at all; it’s very off putting. Restaurant was quite empty so it’s not like he’s in a position to be selective about guests. Decor is tired and old; bathroom was not clean. Would not rush back to this location. Newport is 100x nicer. Food was good especially the crostini’s.
Service was phenomenal!!
Awesome service in a beautiful setting!
The server was impossible to get hold of, our table was off balance and it took about 10 minutes to get someone to come over and help us fix it. The food was fine but the lamb burger was very spicy and not presented as such on the menu. The fries were lukewarm at best.
Ristorante carino, cibo buono, ottimo il servizio
Love this place so much! I just moved to LA and it was the perfect vibe to get an idea of the area and the food was pronominal !!
I did not expect to go to a restaurant when a wedding party was happening there. I felt like I was an uninvited member of the wedding while sitting close to the door where the party was taking place. One can only imagine the loud situation we were at during our dinner. We finished eating in less than an hour and left.
Beautiful place. Good quality and fresh food.
But the acoustic of the space is not designed well. The sounds mix and loud and not clear. They need to dress up or cushion the walls or the high calling or do something about the sound, when busy.
nice place.. good healthy meal with lots of veggie options. Ambience was nice with a lot of guests even on monday evening.
Wonderful place! Bright and Stylish. A bit expensive for a lunch.
The food is always great but the food and service always seems to take time.
Always a lovely dining experience. Simple but elegant dining room, wonderful food and impeccable service.
Everything was amazing and I will be back ASAP
We love Fig & Olive, and really enjoyed celebrating my husbands birthday there.
A staple, night-out restaurant for us. Dishes are always delicious, spreads are creative, and the cocktails are tasty and imaginative. Ambience gets better after dark with the lighting, tree, and patio.
Great food, drinks & ambiance.
The place itself is stunning. The food and service were outstanding. The cocktails! Oh my, the cocktails were remarkable. The bartender is a genius. We were seated in the bar lounge area which the hostess suggested since we were on a date night. She informed us that the main dining room can be loud on a busy Saturday night. We were so thankful for her suggestion. I would recommend FIG AND OLIVE to everone!
None of the food we had, except maybe the fish, was made to order. Way overpriced for the poor quality.
Fig and Olive always have the best customer service, great food, great drinks and a beautiful ambiance
One of my favorite restaurants inLA. The food is fabulous and consistently great. Our server was amazing and she was very knowledgable about Gluten Allergys, and vegan substitutions. Love the lighting in the room and the ambience is lovely. It's just a great restaurant.
great for groups, outside seating, tables for two!
Very disappointing, food was dry, over cooked and tepid. NYC branches are much better.
This place is amazing for brunch. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic place with fantastic food and drinks. Great date night or special occasion.
Service: One of the valet parkers was rude but other than that the service in the restaurant was fantastic.
Wine: It was nice that this kind of place offers white wine by the glass starting at $13. White wine-by- the- glass prices range from $13 to $22.
Food was good overall -- a few of the items were outstanding.
One disadvantage -- the place is very noisy.
Ambiance -- This place seems to be known to have a really beautiful decor or ambiance. My advice: do not expect too much and you will love it.
Restroom -- clean
Great food, wonderful tome. Excellent service
The food was delicious as usual, but we had to flag a waiter down to seat ourselves because there wasn't a host in sight. Also there were a bunch of flies everywhere. I'm not sure if it's just the heat but they should find a way to curtail the insect situation. I'll be back for dinner though.
Mushroom croquettes and pot a crime not up to previous standard
I thought that the meal was excellent. Our waiter was wonderful. My only complaint is that I was charged $17, for a gimlet, which I feel is excessive. It is my go to drink and I have NEVER been charged that much before, no matter how elegant the restaurant.
My stars for Fig & Olive was much better than this before today’s experience, that was reason why I brought my sister.
We didn’t get to be seated even if I took a reservation because there was private event and they occupied half of the place. Regardless of occupation, the problem was service & noise level. I can barely have a conversation with my sister and our server was too busy to serve us. It took 30 minutes to get bread (not a meal), he didn’t get me a bread before I asked. He kept smiling like a nice guy, but I don’t think he hear us.
Birthday. The service, food, and I
ambience were all lovely. As was the free delicious dessert with candle. It was a beautiful evening.
We had this Sunday brunch in down
