FIG & OLIVE Meatpacking Ratings and Reviews
Nice ambiance. Limited wine list, but what is offered is good. Service is friendly and well meaning, though a little confused. Good menu, creative and prepared nicely. Decent value, it’s appropriately priced for neighborhood, setting and quality. I would eat there again and recommend it.
Reservation was honored as requested (type of seating) and table was available at the proper time. We have visited for lunch or brunch in the past but this was our first dinner experience.
Our server was very attentive and professional. Did not rush the meal even though the restaurant was fairly crowded. Cocktails and wine selections were abundant. Had an excellent assortment of appetizers to please everyone's taste. Signature crostinis included wonderful cheeses, vegetable dishes, and seafood selections. Also had the cheeseboard which is a classic at this restaurant (the cheese is served with sides of figs and olives!). The soup was tasty and outstanding, as were all main courses and sides. There are staples like steak, chicken, and fish, as well as a wonderful array of other choices like crudos, risotto, and octopus. The branzino fish for two is filleted at the table and beautifully presented. The manager checked on all guests and dishes and was very responsive when he realized we made a mistake on ordering one of the main courses. They lose a star for ambiance because music (DJ) was fine at the start of the meal but WAY TOO LOUD as the night went on-- inappropriate for the venue-- it's not a dance club; the music should complement the meal, not overpower it. Our Open Table reservation included a note about two birthdays in our group, but this was not acknowledged when dessert was served. (But dessert was tasty and enjoyable anyway.) Will definitely return to this restaurant in what is now one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of NYC.
Not a great dining experience. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and was excited to try some of the items on the menu. However we only had the option of a set menu as it was New Years Eve. Other issues arose and speaking on just this dinner alone wouldn’t go back
Early lunch getaway during a snowstorm: heavenly! The trio never disappoints, no matter the combination selected. Difficult to split and share, but nonetheless terrific. Had an omelette, too- so difficult to get a moist omelette and they hit it perfectly. Excellent wines by the glass from which to choose, and terrific espresso capped a lovely lunch experience.
Came here for a birthday dinner. Made a reservation day-of and was seated promptly upon arrival. The venue is beautiful - especially around the holidays with so many lights. We had the crostini - in order of favorites I recommend the burrata, prosciutto and fig and gorgonzola and apple - all delightful. Took many recommendations on OpenTable and Yelp and got the mushroom croquettes - did not disappoint, the truffle sauce was exquisite. They brought us rosemary bread and three olive oils to try which was a great upgrade to the original bread baskets most restaurants serve. We shared the duck entree with sweet cabbage and fingerling potatoes - unfortunately I have had better duck elsewhere so would opt for a different entree next time. For dessert we got the sampler - i highly recommend because you get to taste pretty much all of them in smaller portions. They took off the dessert for my date's birthday which was so sweet. I give it 3.5/4 stars and will definitely be back!
Had to wait 45 mins+ even though we had a reservation. They did comp our drinks and crostini (very good, highly recommend these) appetizer. I had ordered the roasted chicken, however was informed that they had run out (wha?!?!) and had to go with another option. I tried the funghi penne, which was tasty but in the dry side. Our server was great, very friendly.
Celebrated my Mother’s Birthday. Service was average. We waited for simple things like water refills and coffee. The birthday cake went to the wrong person at our table. Aside from a few of those things the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We were not rushed which was also very enjoyable
We went to Fig&Olive Meatpacking to celebrate my birthday. The waiter didn’t care about us at all. During the dinner we ordered two bottles of wine, and he never came to fill our glasses. The food didn’t impressed either. I ordered seabass which costs $39. The fish comes with broccoli which was bitter. How can they not try what they serve to the guests. Cocktails that we ordered were too strong, impossible to drink. Will never go again to their Meatpacking location.
I love this place and tend to visit a couple of time a year. On Sunday afternoon I was there with my sisters, as usual the food was delightful unfortunately the service was very slow. It looked like our waiter was covering way too many tables on her own and at each step of the process we had to struggle to get her attention. The service put a damper on our experience.
