The server was not overly attentive and it took forever to bring out some of the dishes we shared. He had apologized but that was it. The hamachi appetizer we had shared was underwhelming , yet not cheap. Generally speaking, the restaurant didn’t live up to our expectations; will not return any time soon.
Always consistent and quality food. Perfect location for MOMA as well and my out of town guests loved it.
W discovered Fig & Olive on Lexington or Madison many years ago and have dines with them on 42nd Street and in Newport Beach as well and are always satisfied.
Vibrant flavors with shareable small plates, and excellent fresh food entrees well prepared. Love the new crustini bread: much easier to split and share. The bread and infused oil were sublime as always. Surprised they closed so early. Nonetheless a lovely meal!
The restaurant is very noisy upon entrance, and while the service is kind and enthusiastic, it was not the most prompt. The food was very mediocre and way overpriced for the quality and lack of flavor, considering the other options in the neighborhood. While I can appreciate their attempts at being a nice option, I wouldn’t bring anybody back here.
Food was excellent if you were looking for somewhere in Manhattan for a quick bite without too much formality this is your place!
Sooo noisy! The waiter was obsequious though attentive. The food is very good. Worse part the noise!
Had an excellent lunch with a friend. Really enjoyed the crostini appetizers.
It is a delightful venue, with warm and attentive staff. They were very accommodating and made sure my birthday was special! Thank you for a great evening! I look forward to the next visit! PS - loved the cocktails!
It took about 1-hour between sitting down at the table and our brunch to be on the table. We ordered the same meal and one was served hot and the other cold. Another +30 minutes to get a new order, which was hot but under cooked with runny eggs and half crisp, half undercooked potatoes, and a sausage that looked and tasted like it was boiled. One of the worst experiences ever. The Manager on duty stood by, hands crossed not saying a word while the server apologized. The Manager should be demoted and retrained. Trying to understand what happened to a restaurant that used to be great.
Lovely! Delicious food.
The tables are crammed so tight the waiters bang into you serving the people next to you, who by the way, have full access to your every utterance. The food is a sad attempt at gourmet and the noise level so loud you cannot hear yourself think (but somehow the people next to you can!). If you are in the mood for a community dinner, this is your place, just don't leave your wallet at home! Its pricey for all that!
Ambience not as nice as the Fig did not verify if prices are identical.
Good place to eat at a reasonable value, with a somewhat diverse menu.
Great brunch. Loved the food, service and ambiance.
The food is very good, however the restaurant was very noisy. Apart from that totally recommend.
Overall a good experience. Unfortunately, different servers came to our table to take our orders multiple times. It felt a bit disorganized like nobody knew what was going on, especially after we were lectured by one of the servers to order all at once. Beyond that our food and drinks were good. Duck was a little dry, but accompaniments helped. Great ambiance.
Duck breast overcooked & vegetables burnt... what else to say :-(
Kinetic setting of loud and louder, embodying the spirit of Midtown. Business dinners, catch-up with friends, or a group night out, it’s all here for great service, great courses, great energy, and a great memory. Love the ambience and decor, upscale and sophisticated while not feeling imposing nor intimidating. One of our favorites. Five stars.
We had good service, a little slow on the appetizers, but other than that it was very good. The food was great, and the atmosphere was lovely. Sitting up stairs is great! Much quieter. Easier to talk with your friends and family. Definitely will go back again!
bread is cold and awful, food is overpriced for what it is. the whole experience was mehhhh especially for the hype about this place... very underwhelming..
A good night. Wine was warm and I am not certain they gave me the wine I ordered, filled low on the glass.
Great dining experience!
I was hosting two out of town guests for a late lunch at Fig and Olive. Our server was pushy, rushed and downright annoying. If you want patrons out of your restaurant by 2:30 or 3:00 don’t offer a 2:15 lunch reservation. He was hovering over our table before we had a minute to read the menu and insisted that the kitchen was “turning over” so it was essentially last call for food orders. I was embarrassed that I selected this for my guests. Not a good time even though the food was very well prepared. Disappointing overall because of the service.
There was a bug on our bread and it crawled into the bread when we tried to remove it! We called our server over and she simply took away the one piece of bread instead of the tray - she didn't even offer to replace the bread!! Not only did she not handle the situation correctly, but she was unkempt looking. We did not enjoy our dining experience.
I haven't written a review for Open Table for over a couple of years now, but whenever I get to Fig & Olive, I'm always compelled to. I've been going to the restaurant every year now for six years now, and I always have a great experience.
The crostinis were great as always (beef, salmon, shrimp, pea, burrata, and prosciutto) and the chateaubriand for two was perfect. My friend suggested medium rare, which I'm usually not a fan of, but Fig & Olive delivered, indeed. With a side of shallots and asparagus, my friend and I were both incredibly satisfied. And, of course, the side breads with three olive oils (regular, citrus, and peppered) were complimentary to the whole meal. (We had it brought to our table three times.)
Now, the dinner was in celebration of my friend's upcoming birthday (9/10), and I left them a note asking if they could put a candle on the dessert when they bring it out. After they took our entree and just before we ordered our dessert, the waiter brought out their bruleed cheesecake with a candle. The timing was perfect. Most restaurants fail to read the note, but Fig & Olive *always* reads it (I almost always come here for a celebration, and when I do, they never fail in this important part.) My friend, who usually doesn't eat dessert, so this part is usually just ceremonial for him, actually ate the dessert. And so we decided to order one more dessert of our own -- the pot de creme. Both desserts were a perfect end to our two and a half hour birthday meal.
The waiter was very attentive, the staff was courteous, and the ambiance was sweet -- all adding to the wholesome experience.
I highly recommend anyone reading this review to come here for dinner, especially for a special occasion. The experience is worth the price. I look forward to my next meal there.
Very very small portions for the price
Food was not good. Fois gras overly greasy and not flavorful. Lamb gave me horrible stomach ache after the meal. Paella inedible
We got married on Saturday and our cousins having dinner with us mentioned it to the waiter....Brandon. He was over the top bringing us a desert with a candle. Food was amazing as usual. Our cousins were still with us because they live on the coast of FL and could not get home. They loved the experience and can’t wait to come back!
Brandon our waitress was the best. He was very knowledgeable on the menu. He also made to us very good recommendations.
We were are a party of 10 and everyone was positively impress.ed. Thanks Brandon and Fig & Olive. We can’t wait to come back.
Had an early dinner before a show while on a recent visit to NYC. We started with some of the signature crostini for the group - the goat cheese and caramelized onions, the manchego and fig, and prosciutto were the winners for us. Also ordered a shrimp cocktail, but it was not memorable. For entrees, we ordered the shrimp pasta dish (fantastic), the sea bass (tasty) and the mushroom and truffle risotto (amazing - although I’m not a huge fan of truffles). We were pretty stuffed, but my husband ordered the apple tart at the recommendation of our waiter. It was okay - we probably would order again. If you like cocktails, the peach sangria was refreshing and tasty!
The service was great as usual from start to finish. We were greeted very nicely by the hostess who showed us to the steps where we were greeted by another very nice hostess who seated us in the upstairs space. The dining room was spotless and the conversation was not to loud. Our waiter came over right away and spoke to us about the specials and took our drinks order. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious as always. The bathrooms are spotless which is a big thing with me. The whole experience top to bottom was great!
Buono , senza lode e senza infamia.
Cucina italiana , rivisitata in stile Usa.
Il locale pecca di ricircolo aria , e servizio
Non all’altezza .
Valutazione scolastica , 6 meno .
The Fig and Olive house salad and crostini appetizers are GREAT. Main course dishes a little disappointing. The bouilliabase looks better than it tastes and the chicken taurine was good but not great. However you can certainly make a meal out of the first two items + desert.
Very good! Expansive creative menu with healthy options. Everything tastes great. Fresh clean flavors. Professional service in a lovely room. Table next to us we're diners from Paris,so a very good sign. Try it
A special mother- daughter dinner before college move in. Service was perfect. Grapefruit sangria was an awesome summer sip. We shared 3 delicious crostini, the rigatoni, and chocolate dessert. Lovely Sunday evening.
Empfehlenswerte mediterrane Küche in netter Atmosphäre, ein wenig zu lauter und zu kalt temperierter Speiseraum. Sehr gute Weinauswahl, wenn auch nicht gerade preiswert. Sehr aufmerksames, freundliches Personal.
