FIG & OLIVE Fifth Avenue Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit, as great as the first. Our daughter was delighted, one of her favorites. Very healthy and wonderful menu. We shared appetizers and entrees, family style. Probably not what most tables do, it a great way to taste many dishes. Highly recommend!
Party of 4 on Friday night.. promptly seated at the bar and then immediately seated at a nice table downstairs. Everything was excellent.. from starter crostinis to full entrees. Tagine chicken was perfect in preparation as well as presentation. 2 bottles of mid-priced Spanish red + apps + entrees + tip = $240.
The kitchen is really good at what they do... kudos. Always very good quality of the meals.
Indifferent service when it's busy. Food is very good although on the second floor it's a bit cramped and the service is spotty when it's busy. Several older gentlemen who are likely to be in charge are standing around discussing nothing in particular while younger folk are trying to cover tables and it just comes off as less than genuine. They are trying but they are a bit stuck. This is a management issue that is not being ignored by older gents who are not motivated enough to think about the customers who pay their salary.
This was my first time at fig and olive, I really enjoyed dining here, the ambience and vibe felt easy and chill. We were seated downstairs and I liked that the tables were close to each other as it felt more social. The waiters were attentive and polite. The food was great, me and my friend both got salads and small appetisers, for the price and location it was very good. I will surely come back and recommend this place for a relaxing dinner
Over the ears, I've dined in three of the Fig and Olive establishments and each has exceeded my expectations. Very "energetic" meaning noisy but vibrant. The food was fresh and very good: I had the octopus carpaccio which was so good, I'll return for my wife to try it! I also enjoyed the buratta appetizer which showed off a spectacular olive oil to accompany the tomatoes and cheese.
The staff were attentive and friendly. I had reserved a specific table which they led me too. In every way, I was very pleased. The ambient noise level makes it a little tough for me to hear, but it's worth it to enjoy a vibrant NYC mid-town meal.
Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service, excellent food.
The only issue was that the tables were so close that you could not have a private conversation and in our case we heard ALL of the details of a dysfunctional family. Not the restaurant fault but I didn’t need to hear all the gory details. Just to close.
We wanted a really good, but not over-the-top, restaurant and found it at Fig & Olive. Everything was just right. We loved our cocktails, starters, and entrees. The tagine is tasty, hearty and comforting. The bouillabaisse was done very well with all components cooked just right. Service was strong, not exceptional, but quite good. The noise level is a little high but contributes to an energetic environment. I would say that if you want a really good meal, good service, and a lively setting, F&O hits on a lot of notes and is recommended. If this will be your only higher end experience in NYC then you might find better, but this is a perfect Friday warm up meal to a blow out Saturday night experience, IMO.
Once again my favorite restaurant in NY was amazing! From the warm welcome when you get in to the great service all the time, Fig & Olive is definitely much more than great food! It’s love!
I and my friends (who have never been there before) loved everything. THANKS A LOT for the delicious
complimentary appetizers: the crostinis and the zucchini were superb! I also ordered the truffle mushroom croquettes and the fettuccine with shrimps! Perfect!!!
Our server was really attentive and we had a great night with you guys. You know I will always come back!
Many thanks and Happy New Year!
We frequently go here for business lunches as it is half a block from our office. Never disappoints. You can get in and out in an hour and have a tasty, well-prepared lunch. The prix-fixe lunch is a great deal. Oh and you can pay through OpenTable with Apple Pay!
Very good meal. The starters were truly amazing. Goats cheese and caramelized onions a must!!! Mains were good but lacked depth of flavor. Service was impeccable. A good choice in resturant. Perhaps I will try a different main next time. I had the salmon and shrimp arugula salad/ thought is bland.
Coffee delicious and molten chocolate with vanilla cream, a delicious indulgence!
The food at 62nd and Lex is better that this branch. I ordered the same as i ordered from 62nd and Lex which is paella and it was fresh and delicious.but here at 52nd and 5th, the food was like from the left over during New years eve.The shrimp was a litte bit hard.
The food was ok, but the dishes had more emphasis on presentation than flavors (a nice way of saying they didn't taste as good as they looked). For instance, the fries were heavy and greasy (need to check your temp levels and turn times). Also, a restaurant with such a limited selection of menu items should not run out of ingredients for any of their main dishes (especially a simple dish, such as Penne Funghi). Finally, we didn't feel the "ownership" from the service team. This is a problem with "chain" restaurants like this - they want to create a unique experience, but they forget that the experience is more than just the decor. It's about creating a connection with your guests that conveys a since of ownership and pride. Sorry for the tough review, but you have good "bones". You just need to work on execution.
