FIG & OLIVE Fifth Avenue Ratings and Reviews
Food was incredible ! Love the food and the chef that did a table touch and helped us decide on our entree choice. Our servers who delivered the food were sweet and engaging. Waitress absolutely could not be bothered with questions. ALSO: Upon coming in, I let the hostess know that we were here and I gave her my name and OpenTable confirmation number and she seated us promptly. An hour after dinner, I received an email from OpenTable saying I missed my reservation and asked me to be mindful of restaurant operations ?? Eventually resolved but so unnecessary and totally annoying. No organization for Front of House staff. Poor beginning and poor ending. THE FOOD DEFINITELY MAKES UP FOR IT but that may not always be enough.
We had to constantly asked for our water glasses to be refilled. Our appetizers came out cold. Our waiter left and didn’t let us know so we were sitting there like headless chickens looking for him had to order our dessert from the bar mean while we were sitting at a dining table having dinner. Food was bland. Really disappointed.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent as well. Our server wasn’t hovering, but was there when needed. When taking our order I asked about a dessert I had in a previous visit. After we finished our meal, the dessert was there - didn’t even have to ask for it. That is what service is all about!
Excellent food - good to share for 4 - especially the crostini and the tagine. (Paella was good, but a bit on the skimpy side). Be forewarned that the place bustling (I.e, LOUD) but I guess some folks like it that way. Well worth going to for a casual friendly dinner.
The service and the meal was really poor. Our entrees came before our appetizer or drinks. The drinks that came were syrupy sweet and sticky all the way around the handle of the glass. When I told the manager that I didn't like the drink he handed it to our server. She brought it back and set it down and asked me 'what is the problem?' very rudely. Was not impressed with this spot.
My first visit (July 2017) to F&O was lovely, but this visit disappointed me. The food was delicious, but the service was under par. The waiter didn't introduce himself, was delayed in welcoming us and delivering drink orders, provided no recommendations and was luke warm in personality. I had even noted in my reservation a one-year anniversary celebration, and neither the restaurant nor the server recognized the occasion. High marks for the food...it was outstanding, but the service on this occasion could have been significantly improved.
I was on our annual girlfriend weekend, with two friends from 40 years ago. We had a reservation for 7:45 but we were done with our show and wanted to eat right away. The host graciously invited us to be seated right away, even though he had more reservations coming in soon. Jennifer, our server, was the best! She appeared when we needed her, was quick with the wine, took our photo, and overall, took great care of us. We had ample time to enjoy our crostini appetizer-I think our favorite was the goat cheese, but all three were delicious. The bread they bring out with three olive oils was wonderful! We had had a larger lunch, so opted for the salads. Mine had so much great stuff! Avocado, fig!, heirloom tomatoes, and I added shrimp. We were amazed at how fresh and perfectly seasoned the shrimp was! The salads were so big I could barely finish. There were so many fun things on the menu I was hoping we would have another night to try more.
First time and quite impressed. Energetic, cozy atmosphere, attentive and friendly service. Menu offers wide choice and certain value selections (i.e. cristini). Interesting and varied wine selections. Overall, good food at affordable prices. Would recommend and will be back again.
This was our first time at this location and we loved it. Food was great, ambiance was warm and friendly and fun. Wine list was appropriate to the entrees with good selections but wasn't an encyclopedia that you have to take an hour with. Highly recommend for couples, friends, family.
It's a good place to go but the tables are too close together. The staff are great and very professional. The food was good but I did not like the mushroom crostini. More a preference that a faux par by the chef. Good bar choice. Portion size reasonable. Menu not too long but some good choices.
This restaurant has been one of my favorite restaurant for many years. Foods here is always wonderful but seat is too close to next table and noisy level is too high , you have to shout to make a conversation. It is getting loudest and louder and seat is narrower and narrower over the years...
Packed in with no room to breathe and the temperature was extremely warm. Very noisy, tables close together...2 people can’t walk at the same time...only room for one person to walk at a time. Food was very good but it was tough to hear the waiter because of packed noisy crowd. Not the best experience, especially for the price. They charged $39 for Chilean Sea Bass and I had to request binoculars to find it.
