FIG & OLIVE Fifth Avenue Ratings and Reviews
Horrible service. So loud that we couldn’t talk to our waiter when he would stop to grace us with his presence. Had to ask for table to be cleared, left in middle of meal after waiting 50 minutes to order entrees but weren’t given the opportunity. Tiny tables did not help the situation, either!
While the food is really good, the service was only OK. They were extremely busy and the restaurant was incredibly loud. It was difficult to have a conversation without yelling. I've been here for Happy Hour and would go back in the evening, but would not recommend for lunch or any sort of serious conversation. If you don't have anything to say to the person you're eating with, this might be the place for you.
LOVE this restaurant!!!! The grilled octopus carpaccio is OUTRAGEOUS!!! All the bruschetta is fantastic as well!! I had the shrimp fettuccini and my husband had the filet. Both were delicious! Our server was very nice and didn’t hover over us! As always....Fig and Olive never disappoints!!!!
I ordered the bouillabaisse. I got two seared scallops, five mussels and a small piece of white fish. The broth was served separately, 5 ounces of room temperature broth that was about as inspired as the napkin . I’ve had this dish dozens of times at French restaurants and make it occasionally so I feel some obligation to tell this restaurant this wasn’t what it ordered . It was a cheap joke . The glass of wine I asked for before the meal arrived 30 minutes after the meal was served. My guest faired no better. $140 for two tiny and poorly prepared dinners , run , run away and never go here ...
It was good but we wanted a table by the corner and ended up next to the kitchen stewarding and dishwashing wares so very noisy.
The food was great. I love this place. Service was okay.
I am fond of fig and olive. The meat packing location is better though. This place is a little run down.
I was expecting top notch service. Our waitress didn't introduce herself just what can I get you. On my reservation on the details page I stated it was our 1st trip to nyc. Other establishments have acknowledged the comments but this place did nothing to make us feel invited. Our drinks were wrong. We weren't charged. I even pointed to them on the menu. Our waitress didn't apologize just told us she'll get us the correct drinks. It was down hill from there. Chartreuse platter was ok. The chicken Tanjine was nothin spectacular and my shrimp pasta tasted as if it was cooked in a microwave...the noodles were scalding hot. So not impressed. Just terrible for what we paid.
We came to celebrate my cousin’s birthday, and shared the olives, mushroom croquettes, octopus carpaccio and quinoa salad. Everything was fresh and tasty. We also did the octopus, mushroom and shrimp crostini which did not disappoint. For dessert we shared a pumpkin valcharin, which I had never had before. They were very nice to comp us dessert for her birthday, which I thought was a very nice touch. We enjoyed a bottle of cava throughout the evening due to our celebratory mood, and had a wonderful evening of lively conversation.
This was our first visit to the restaurant. We went on the recommendation of friends. We started with several of the crostini which were spectacular. I then had the branzino which was well prepared and came on a bed of lightly roasted vegetables and mini potatoes. Delicious. They had a very nice selection of wines by the glass, and although we didn’t have a bottle, the list looked complete with a good representation of American, Italian, and French red and whites reasonably priced. Our waitress was very thorough and helpful with our selections without being intrusive. I would recommend this restaurant, and am sure we will be back on our next visit to the city.
