I've been to Fig & Olive in the past during restaurant week and they had better food. Not so good this time but will give it another try before i call it quits. Their cheesecake was horrible.
We ate hear a year ago and it was wonderful, which was why we returned. I’m sad to say that was not at all the case this time. Apart from the location and decorations, it might as well have been a different restaurant entirely. We were ignored by our waiter, except when he would come by to grab things off our plates or poor water while thrusting his arm inches from my wife’s face. When we asked questions about the menu, as my wife has food allergies, his responses varied from absolutely clueless to casual and careless. It took us nearly 10 minutes to get a dessert menu we had asked to see and an additional 15-20 minutes for the single, small piece of chocolate cake we ordered to finally arrive. The table next to us was so close that they might as well have been a part of our party. The only thing I can figure was that we opted to start with sparkling water rather than wine and because of that were written off as not appearing to be a wealthy enough table. Despite the fact that dinner still cost us over $100. I’ve been recommending this place to friends when they tell me they are coming to the city. I won’t be doing that anymore. Stop making snap judgments about customers based on whether or not they want alcohol immediately upon sitting down.
Too noisy. Impossible to hear anything above the sink. Tables are packed together to Max out the space and the result is a crowded, insanely noisy environment that detracts from the good food and service
this is one of our favorite restaurants. Great fresh healthy food Always treated respectfully The roasted cauliflower appetizer was excellent and plentiful. Our salad and chicken tagine were delicious
The food is excellent and interesting. The atmosphere is unexceptional. A good spot for a casual lunch or dinner.
We arrived very early, before our reservation and we were seated right away. Food was fabulous and we had a great time!
The experience was limited. We left after the ride host at the door greeted is with "hi you need to order in three minutes or we cave serve you ". We had not even sat down yet. The restaurant takes reservations until 9p (it was 8:34p)when we arrived so one assumes the kitchen is open at least 30 mins to an hour after that. Everyone in the dining room got the same service and were talking about it and also wanted to leave. I think the amateur staff at the restaurant just assumes everyone is a tourist and they can treat people that way, which is wrong. This restaurant in NO WAY COMPARES to the meat packing location, and it's an embarrassment.
Really a little gem. High quality food and good service. Definitely to be added to the reliable favourites.
We loved every minute of the hours we spent! The food and drink were phenomenal. Our server was engaging and accommodating. He didn’t rush us out.
I have been to this restaurant several times now. Last night The chilaen sea bass was cooked perfectly. I had the pasta dish with mushrooms and truffle oil. The last time i had it everything was in a beautiful cream sauce with lots of truffle flavor. This time it was a bit disappointing. Barely any sauce somewhat greasey and the pasta was over cooked and mushy. It was the first time my dinner partner had tried a creamy truffle sauce and she liked it but i only ordered it so she could experience it fully and it was barely ok. The waiter was good. Ambiance was awesome. We had a seat in the corner by the front upstairs window and that was perfect.
Great for lunch!
Quality of food has gone down hill. This used to be one of our favorite spots, but now I can safely say it’s no longer so. The dishes have gotten overly cheesy/creamy and greasy. My pasta dish was so heavy I couldn’t finish it. Until that changes, it is definitely not worth the price.
We had a wonderful server and our food was brought out so quickly! The food was delicious!
We had a reservation and an girl ,who speak portuguese, was saying that we were next, but she was putting a lot of persons in our front. Also the food was horrible for it price.
Extremely loud on second level, but it was lunch time. Waiter was rushing us & constantly coming to table & interpreting our conversation every 5-10 minutes. Lobster salad was terrible- tasted old, rubbery & soggy like it had been sitting pre-prepared for hours w artificial looking red croutons & over-dressed. Didn’t say anything bec it was a business lunch, but will never return! Convenient location, but extremely disappointing experience!
This is the 2nd time that I order a salad that seemed pre- made straight out of fridge- super soggy
Always fun and sophisticated. I come a lot to this location with visitors to NYC and folks who work in midtown because it's near MOMA and Rock Center. Menu is great for people with various dietary concerns - lots and lots of vegetables, lots of options for non-meat eaters. Pricey but not crazy. Food is good.
Having enjoyed eating here before, we were disappointed with the quality of the food this evening.
We totally enjoyed our visit to Fig & Olive Fifth Avenue - GREAT food, comfortable atmosphere, GREAT service!
The lobster salad was ill-conceived, spiced beyond recognition as lobster. The service made us feel rushed as dishes were brought out within minutes of being ordered, raising questions as to when they had been prepared. Our check was brought before we asked for it, delivered with an ironic "no rush"!
What’s with the wait staff?
Delicious food served by a lovely server in a pleasant setting!
Very busy crowded restaurant. Server was pleasant. Food was bland, visually pleasing but no flavor. Not worth the price with so many great choices in NYC.
We thought the food was good above average the service was a little lax at times. The part of the restaurant that we were seated in was cold. Every person seated against the wall basically kept there coat on. Probably wouldn’t go back soon!
Few options , terrible service , forgetting itens , hard to find a waiter that could help you and , the masterpiece !
After standing up twice to order for salt , the waiter said that .... they had run out of salt !!
And brought me a saucer with a little salt .... from the kitchen !!
No other chance for them , so sorry !!
Messed up most orders and was not attentive to us
Best crostinis I've ever had!
Siempre agradable. Comida ligera y deliciosa ! Ideal para ir con amigos y familia. El local es amplio y comodo.
It’s twice in this restaurant. I love
Fig & Olive salad, tapenade trio of smoked salmon, shrimp, and burratta. Delicious. Great date night.
Delicious. Great service. Pricey but great.
Good food and atmosphere near theater district. Very busy at 5:30 so reservations a must !
good dinner but certainly over priced.
Fig and Olive on Fifth Avenue is one of my favorite restaurants when visiting NYC. I love the seasonal menu, the creative cuisine, and the menu choices - small plates, full entrees, perfect for just grazing or a full meal. And, be sure to save room for dessert, as all items are awesome. This particular Fig and Olive site is always busy, which is a nod to the excellent food and wonderful employees. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Service was not good at all. Disappointing visit. Waited to place an order. Server forgot to deliver whipped cream for the French toast. The hostesses was not friendly. Just bad service.
All around amazing! Food came out in good timing and was impeccable! Drinks were tasty, ambience was friendly, tighter than the meatpacking location, but still very good evening.
Good as usual. A favorite when we’re back in the City.
