Food and service was very lackluster. The food looked like it was left out for a while.
The food was delicious and the service first class
F&O signature salad was blah. Dressing was bland. Ingredients were nothing special and some were missing totally. Leek soup was not very flavorful and potatoes were not cooked enough. The meal was saved by the crostini all were excellent. Cappuccino was excellent. Waiter was clearly a professional who knew how to serve without inserting himself into the occasion.
Went here for Restaurant Week, and it was delicious. I especially loved the scrumptious balsamic vinaigrette and bread, the crostinis, the potato leek soup, and the delectable sorbet. I wasn't the biggest fan of the entree, but it was still adequate. Great for a lunch, especially during Restaurant Week!
I have been to Fig and Olive in New York twice and they were both fantastic experiences, therefore, I wanted to take my friends to the DC location for brunch when they all came out of town to visit. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed in the quality and value of the food. First of all, I ordered the Poached Eggs and Prosciutto, which came with a side salad. Though I understand that side salads with brunch usually are very minimalistic, there was nothing more than the lettuce and the lemon and oil, which I thought was pretty bland. Then I had friends who ordered the Avocado Toast, which for the amount being charged, I imagined would be a lot more grand and satisfying. The pieces of toast they came on were so tiny and a very sad excuse for avocado toast. If you’re going to charge $16 or so for something like this, it better be a much more decorated and filling option. Though the atmosphere is great and I have had two great experiences at the NYC location, I was very disappointed in this experience and visit to the DC location.
Ryan was great, thanks!
Let me start by saying that they have done a great job with the menu, interior design and wonderful job with the service. The thing that bothered us was the treatment we received upon entering the restaurant.
Our time at Fig and Olive was amazing! We had but I have deemed the best seat in the house, located at a corner table in their White room with a view of the streets of DC. The services was great. Didn’t feel rushed and wasn’t waiting long for service. The food was delicious and exceeded expectations. My fiancé enjoyed himself thoroughly and we will be back to visit for sure!
We really enjoyed Fig and Olive. The restaurant had an upscale feeling and two levels, with "lounge" type table and bar seating downstairs and more conventional tables upstairs. We arrived early when it was fairly quiet, but tables were filling rapidly as we left. The cocktail menu featured some great flavor combinations and we had the Chateaubriand for two. Great service. We will definitely return, once the credit card bill is paid.
I ate at Fig and Olive with three of my girlfriends for brunch this weekend and we had a delightful time! All of our food was delicious and the ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. The service was also fantastic (the manager took his time to make sure we were taken care of)-- the only slight snafu was that our mimosas were forgotten about at the bar so they took a bit longer to get to us, but things happen!
Our 3rd visit, especially brought 2 friends from Boston - EXTREMELY disappointing !!
Service was appalling: 1 waiter for semi-empty floor yet for example bread came late, etc
Food was cold - lamb chops and without salt or liquorice. Cauliflower was cold & tasteless ...
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this to anyone: sad it was good before ...
The lobster in my lobster ravioli was very dry and obviously over-cooked while my daughter’s sea bass was absolutely delicious.
Completely underwhelmed- the food was so mediocre we were shocked.
Went to celebrate New Years before Justin Timberlake concert.
Amazing meal and service! Worth every penny! My favorite spot in DC!
The overall food and service was good. The New York location is a little better because of the cooks.
I have been here one other time and consistently hear rave reviews. Tonight was a huge miss! Severely over priced prefix menu but more importantly all 4 courses were bad. My guest and I both ordered the crab bisque for our first course and both noticed there was seemingly no crab in the soup.... We were so disappointed by this as we were there for a special occasion. The best thing we had at Fig and Olive tonight was the ice cold water.
The prefix menu option was not clear when booking the reservation and no price could be seen. When I went online to book it stated the prefix menu option was for guests staying for the nye celebration and it read sold out. It seemed there were two options but that was not the case when we arrived. Just overall extremely disappointing and unsatisfied.
Went for New Years Eve to celebrate with my mom who just helped me move from Detroit to DC. Have been to this location once before when visiting and loved it. Our server was fantastic; smiling and engaging. The recommended bottle of rose was amazing. The decor and ambiance is always beautiful but was even stepped up a notch for the festivities with a tv and a balloon drop. The food was fantastic all around from start to finish. I will say that the recommended cooking temp was medium and both filets came out red medium rare, which actually turned out even better based on my mom and my preference. The only critical note I will say is that I was completely unaware of a Prix-fix menu. I understand it would be hard to post that on Opentable but when the restaurant called to confirm the reservation, it would have been good business to let the customer know due to the occasion that there was a set menu/price. Other than that, it really was a phenomenal experience ended with a champagne toast to ring in the new year.
Previous dining experiences at Fig & Olive have always been quite good but today was exceptionally disappointing. The food was mediocre at best and the service poor. Our waiter never inquired, as is common, if we were satisfied or needed anything.
The steak came out the wrong temperature. We had to send it back. The food was fine but in my opinion, too small for the prices.
Ate here with good friends and we all had very good meals. Our server did a fine job recommending the wine paring. My wife really liked the crostinis and olive oils.
Server didn’t offer the oil and bread that other tables got. Only complaint...............................
Went there for lunch for daughter's birthday. We really liked the food, specially the mushroom croquettes which were recommended by our waitress! Service was great. Seating very comfortable. We just found it rather pricey with 4 lobster ravioli at $38....thank goodness the bread and olive oil are delicious and filling.
When we walked into this restaurant we were overwhelmed by the smell of truffle oil. We were ushered upstairs where all of the people of a certain age were seated. Our waiter, who was not knowledgeable about the menu, claimed to have worked there from the time restaurant opened. We ordered a the filet and although it was good, the sides on the plate were of hot bar quality. The mashed potatoes were overly whipped, and the beans were flavorless and raw. Our appetizer of carpaccio was so overly salted that we could not taste the beef. We noticed the there were 8 cameras in the ceiling near our table and when we asked the waiter about it, he claimed that there are 58 cameras in the restaurant. This seemed to be beyond security and into the realm of snooping.
I love Fig & Olive! The food, the service, the ambiance are awesome!
Amazing experience - great atmosphere and food/drinks. Good place to bring someone to impress. Look forward to returning!
It was a dismal visit. Unfortunately I’d chosen Xmas eve to visit, so few other choices. I’d made reservations but sat at the bar since it was only me. The bartender, without looking at me, greeting me (and forget a happy holiday!) told me I needed to hurry and order as the kitchen was closing. And he walked away. It was 7:45. I had not been told the kitchen would close early. I chose to ask the staff at front to give me a table. The staff there were marginally better. I left a 30% because it was a holiday. But rest assured I will never go back. And what on earth makes this a “French” restaurant anyway? A tiresome experience I hope to forget. Overpriced and hardly worth the effort. It’s a shame. It’s a pretty restaurant.
Overpriced, food came out after just 5 mins of ordering, which was bland and underwhelming. Are they still heating prepared food from frozen packs? Service was prompt but unfriendly. My guests were visiting from Dubai and wanted a nice dinner on Christmas Eve, we were disappointed.
Ambiance is key with good food snd service and they deliver
A perfect place to celebrate the holidays with my colleagues.
Fog and Olive always exceeds my expectations. Their food is consistently excellent and their staff really tries to enhance your experience. The space is fantastic for a business meeting or cocktailing after work. Two thumbs up.
It was nice
The food was subpar given the cost - I have a nut allergy and the waiter did not stay attentive to this throughout dinner.
If you enjoy eating expensive food, while laying on a couch with deafening music, this is the place for you! Seriously, the seating is the worst. While the living room casual feeling looks cool, it's really uncomfortable unless you have core muscles of steel. Also, by sitting in these lounge chairs, your dining partner is seated at least six feet away - unless you can read lips over the DJ's music or enjoy speaking loudly like you're in a club, go elsewhere. Or get take-out...the sea bass was amazing.
Great experience. Very hip, with DJ at first level. Ask for a table instead of sofa/lounge chairs and you’ll go upstairs. Expansive dining room, very nice atmosphere. Great food.
excellent service , the food was well prepared and promptly served , despite the fact that the place was very busy with Xmas parties, strongly recommended
Date night with friends.
Nice ambiance and a very good Happy Hour deal every day. Waitstaff was a bit rude/intrusive.
Great atmosphere and service. Delicious food. Will be going back in the future!
